Transformers 2 rocked my world!
14 July 2009
How amazing was this movie?! Michael Bay is a genius and a visual artist. This movie was exactly what an action packed kick a** summer movie should be...entertaining as hell. The special effects were insane, as in, I can't even tell they are special effects, I mean, seriously, didn't the robots look real?! It's kinda trippy when you think about it. Shia and Megan are back and they do a great job of keeping a human element to all the robot action. Obviously the robots are the main draw and Michael Bay really delivers. I really do think everyone should pay to see this in theaters. You will get your money's worth and it will make you forgot about all your recession blues!

Dance Flick (2009)

Dance Flick was GOOD!
28 May 2009
I went to see Dance Flick, really unsure what I would think but still had an open mind...and I REALLY liked it. I was hysterically laughing the whole time and I really loved the dance sequences too. It's more than just a spoof movie...it has plot, humor, romance but the humor was what I loved best. It really will make you laugh and you are sure to have a good time if you see this movie. Take your friends, so you can all laugh together and quote it afterward. The Wayans always know what they are doing and they got this one right! Take your family, take everyone you know...just go see it and have a great time. Good summer comedy!

Hotel For Dogs is Fun for EVERYONE!
26 January 2009
I'm obsessed with these dogs. They seriously are so fun and adorable and I loved seeing this movie. I went and saw it with my cousin and she was freaking out...couldn't wait to go see it and she loved every second of it. Friday, the main dog, was her favorite. Anytime he did something fiesty she would laugh hysterically. I loved the bulldog, cooper. The scene where he has a vending machine full of old shoes is genius. I really liked all the smart and quirky inventions that were used. This was a great family film...really honest, fun, enjoyable and totally entertaining. I would definitely recommend this film to someone who wants an easy, carefree, good time!

I love Benjamin Button!
26 January 2009
I went to see this over New Years and absolutely loved it. I thought it was the kind of epic movie that Hollywood used to make back in the day. It was smart, classy, timeless, beautiful, subtle, moving, sweet, endearing, powerful and thought provoking. David Fincher stepped out of his comfort zone and the risk payed off. He did an amazing job with this film. The sets, the costumes, the score, the acting...all add to the power and magic of this film. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are stellar. I alway absolutely love Julia Ormond's performance. It was soothing, nurturing and helped tie the story together wonderfully. It really is a terrific concept for a movie, a man aging backwards, and makes you evaluate your own life and what you want to make of it in your limited time here. So so so so great!!! See this movie!

Woo Hoo for Mad 2!!!
11 November 2008
I went to see Madagascar 2 over the weekend with my nephew and we both thought it was a riot!! It was such a fun and entertaining movie. I had seen the original and loved it and was totally jazzed to see how good the sequel was. My nephew had never seen the first one but he was totally able to understand and get into this one. I love ALL the characters but my favorites were the hippos, the penguins, the monkeys and that meerkat. The animation is awesome, the plot is fun and comical and it was just a fun movie. I can't wait to either see it again with my other nephew or buy it on DVD and watch it 20 times. It has that kind of appeal...to laugh and dance and enjoy it over and over.

Eagle Eye (2008)

Eagle Eye is awesome!
2 October 2008
Eagle Eye is AWESOME!! I went and saw it last weekend and thought it was RAD. I read online that this is the same director as Disturbia (another great movie) and this is Shia's and his second movie. I think they make an great team. The action was amazing, with one of the coolest car chase scene's that I've seen in a long time. Not only was this a kick ass action flick, it was also really funny at times. Shia gives some great one-liners. He's cool and charismatic. The plot is freaky too, everyone is being watched at all times!?! Go see this is you want a fun, entertaining action film. Really, this is a cool movie that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Ghost Town and Ricky Gervais Rule!
22 September 2008
Ricky Gervais is comedy heaven. He seriously is so funny in Ghost Town. He is just so darn snarky but at the same time so likable. I think this was a great role for him and he delivered the goods. I have never seen him in The Office or Extras, but he was so good in Ghost Town and I've heard so many great things about his work in those shows that I feel like I should go watch those now. Again, having never seen his work before, I can certainly say that I am a now a big fan.

Kirsten Wiig in a supporting role in Ghost Town was HILARIOUS as well. Love her! She's going to be the next big breakout star from SNL.

I really loved how smart this film was too, I found that to be incredibly refreshing.

Tropic Thunder made me laugh so hard!
17 September 2008
I know this review is a bit late but I felt like I had to write it. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet...you must go see Tropic Thunder. It will make you laugh so hard it may just hurt. It is a bold and shocking comedy that is sharp and smart. This ain't no stoner pic...it's more an epic, large scale, beautifully shot, smart-ass, bloody, comedic glory pic. All the characters brought their A game and truly deliver laugh out loud moments. Jack Black is hilarious, Robert Downey Jr. is genius and even Tom Cruise shows up and delivers a knock out (and shocking) performance. Katie must be proud.

Again, this movie is pure entertainment and I hope everyone goes and sees it in the theater. It's worth your bucks and your time!

WALL·E (2008)

Wall E surprise me and proves that animated pics are still in my future
8 August 2008
I didn't think I wanted to see Wall E. I kept seeing ads and wasn't impressed and was very disinterested. I don't want to see some kids movie. So the movie is out, does great and everyone is talking about it and I get a little interested and finally go see it with little or no expectations. Then out of nowhere, 3 minutes into the movie I'm LOVING it. I was thoroughly entertained the entire time, laughing, enjoying myself and totally engrossed in the film. It really was so fun and a real gem. Wall E couldn't have been a cooler, more affable protagonist. I mean this was an adventure movie, love story and sci-fi flic all thrown into one. It just so happened to be animated...and VERY well done I might add. I guess I need to be more open-minded about these animated features because you know what else I loved...Kung Fu Panda. These films have great stories, excitement and just leave you feeling great. I feel like I have a lot of animation in my future. Wall EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Rules!

Mamma Mia! (2008)

Mamma Mia...we need some real singers
25 July 2008
I love Abba music. I have to start off by saying that. I truly do love it. And maybe that's why I was disappointed with the new film Mamma Mia, because I just love the music too much. I just truly felt that Meryl Streep and especially Pierce Brosnan butchered the music. I'm sure they both were convinced by their agents how amazing this movie would be.."Look you guys..you've never done something like this before, it would be so brave of you. I know you can't sing but we'll get you lessons. Take a chance on me...you'll be great". But it seems so gratuitous that they did this movie. We need actors who can actually sing (Ewan McGregor, Catherine Zeta Jones, Renee Zellwiger, Jamie Foxx, even Nicole Kidman faired MUCH better at their attempts.) The truth is I think Meryl is a great actress....just not a great singer. And my lord....how AWFUL was Pierce Brosnan's singing. It was truly painful and I was literally embarrassed for him. Shame on him for thinking he could do this role. His ego must be out of control to think he could pull it off...because he truly didn't. The only one out of the whole cast who could carry a tune was the charming and beautiful Amanda Seyfried. Now that's a girl that can act AND sing. I was just really disappointed by the film. The scenery was spectacular but the film wasn't. Too bad. I'm sad.

Christian and Heath light up Dark Knight
24 July 2008
I finally was able to get to the theater last night and watch The Dark Knight. The movie was spectacular. I thought Christian Bale was amazing and Heath Ledger was seriously INSANELY good. This really was such a stellar cast...Caine, Freeman, Oldman...all delivered solid performances. Maggie Gyllenhal seemed an odd casting replacement for Katie Holmes (wonder what she was thinking turning down the role?! Hope it wasn't for Mad Money)but Maggie did an ample job. I think his performance was a marvel and his acting ability boundless. The plot was a bit confusing at times but the action, drama and spectacle more than make up for that. Even the musical score was fantastic! Such a great summer picture!

The Love Guru (2008)
8/10
i saw it too!
18 April 2008
i was at the screening too, mike myers is back! packed theater w. non stop laughing.

i was pretty surprised as i wasn't sure what to think going in - jessica alba is so hot.

she plays the owner of the toronto maple leafs who is trying to get their best player back with his wife, who's dating his hockey rival (justin timberlake who is actually pretty good) so, she hires mike myers character, who is a guru with a complex, always #2 to another guru, deepak chopra (sp?) to try to get them back together so the maple leafs can win the stanley cup.

I don't want to give too much away in my review, but there are some great scenes of mike myers character as a guru in training in India.

it's like they superimposed his head on a kids body, hard to describe, but it's really funny.

there are definitely some classic austin powers like moments that had the audience rolling, and mini me is back from austin powers as the coach of the hockey team.

fans of the daily show & colbert report will be in for a nice surprise (no spoilers though people).
