Trotsky (2017)

Part of me wishes this were more of a documentary.

I agree with the other comments wrt it's dramatic value and historically dubious facts but as soon as I started watching it I knew Much was missing and went to refresh my memory on the history and facts surrounding Trotsky's life. It's a good production with great acting that keeps true to the major facts, a good intro for most people. And if the fill in some of the gaps with some more historical information they will enjoy the program even more. I hope it spurs them to read more on the topic the Russian revolution and it's main characters because it is so interesting and filled with deceit, violence and terror. It couldn't be captured in one series or a couple of seasons of episodes.

I can see why this was cancelled

A very novel and promising premise that is being ruined by over indulgent scenes showing the romance's building between the various characters. These scenes go on too long and the music is nauseating to me. Going on this long does nothing to advance the story or add to the plot. As a result the story goes from tense and gripping to boring.

Losing its way
13 November 2017
What started out as a unique idea and was well written and acted has quickly gone the way of most TV and lost it's way. This last season is simply an annoying repetition of the various characters dysfunctional relationships and in ability to cope. In many ways a lot like my own family which drives me totally nuts. It did better when it was examining the issues and angst of becoming a trans late in life but now has decided to abandon that theme and go on to frustrating portraits of Jewish angst. We cannot follow this show any longer and have abandoned it for more intelligent viewing. This is now nothing more than a copy of all of Woody Allen's earlier movie themes.

Went downhill fast
5 June 2016
Season one was promising and a good set up but season 2was very self indulgent and became a perpetual girls night out. People this insane couldn't possibly exist anywhere but in LA! It becomes a gong show of dysfunctional narcissistic women living their second childhood. Adult women acting like 15 yo girls. I barely made it to the end of the second season and won't watch anymore. Gag me! Life is one long party for these poorly written shallow characters. If these characters weren't so childish all the time it might be a show worth watching. However the situations are superficial and repetitive full of immature bad decisions. I found it painful to watch and inane much of the time. I really don't know how many times I have to repeat myself to get the minimum of 10 lines. People need to be warned how much of a waste of time this show became so quickly. That this show has gone 5 seasons shows how shallow and intellectually numb most viewers are.
