Sliders: Just Say Yes (1998)

Decent episode, lots of puns
20 July 2021
This is just a normal episode, not to great and not bad either. That said, the one thing that I really loved about this one were the reverse drug puns.

If you like puns, you'll love this one.

The Whispers (2015)
9/10
Great show, although it starts off a little slow.
30 June 2015
I, like a lot of the reviewers, didn't think much of the show when it first began. The first couple of episodes were quite confusing and left the impression that this was going to be one of those dull shows with sluggish plots that take ten episodes to tell a story that could have been told in three - I was wrong.

After the first few episodes the show eventually began to open up and everything started to make sense. The show goes from a confusing series of unrelated events into one big brilliant interwoven plot that leaves you wanting more. Although a lot of what's going on remains a mystery, there is enough progress being made by the characters to keep you interested and entertained.

I see this show really making it big if it stays on it's current path. Definitely one of my favourites this year.

I advise anyone out there to give it at least 4 episodes before writing it off, you won't regret it.

Pacific Rim (2013)

The best action flick I've seen this year
7 November 2013
I approached this movie expecting to see lots of action and out of this world special effects and that is exactly what I got. The movie keeps you at the edge of your seat from start to finish and it does away with boring sub plot lines that have become the norm. If you're looking for a love story or a deep thought provoking movie, you will not find it here, this is a fun, save the world, kick-ass action packed flick and it does that very well.

I really don't understand why other reviewers are giving it low scores for doing exactly what it set ouu to do. You don't go to watch a love story and complain that there isn't enough action, so why do you go and watch a "robots Vs monsters" movie and complain that the plot lacked complexity?

If you want to watch a good action flick that delivers pure adrenaline fuelled mayhem minus that mushy crap that they seem to be putting in movies all the time, then you'll love this. Want something else, find that and watch that.

The Legend of Korra: Beginnings, Part 2 (2013)
Season 2, Episode 8
10/10
Hands down the best episode in the whole Avatar series
25 October 2013
I just finished watching this episode and I just had to come here and sing praise about it. The music, animation style, humour, drama and effects come together into one beautiful, seamless and free flowing story that scoops you into this beautiful fantasy world, leaving you with a level of love and understanding for the main character that I've never experienced before in any show.

I just have to mention that this is part 2 of a two part episode so I'm also referring to the episode before this. If you haven't watched it you need to GO WATCH IT NOW. You don't even need to have watched the series as this is a prequel, advanced knowledge of the story not necessary. I honestly believe that they could get away with making a part 3 and a part 4 and releasing it as a box office movie.

After watching this episode I feel as though I've reached the climax of the show, I feel as though no other episode, no matter how good will ever be as good or as entertaining. But you know what? I don't even care, this episode was that good.

Not only is this anime unfinished, it also has a major plot flaw
27 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this anime and fell in love with it instantly. It has a nice even mix of style, action and comedy that I haven't seen in any other anime before. It's one of those animes that use to be the highlight of my day...

...that is, until it reached around the episode 10 mark, which is where you actually find out that the fun and lovable characters that have kept you glued to the screen are only the little kids around camp the fire whose only purpose is to facilitate a not so fun story. The whole anime is dominated by a back story that happened 2 years prior to episode 1 and it has a totally different feel to the present story. Furthermore, at the end of it all, they leave the present storyline incomplete.

That said, the back story wasn't bad at all, it just wasn't what I signed up for.

Stargate Universe (2009–2011)
5/10
A good series but deviated too far from the originals.
24 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
After a very promising start of the series, it goes stagnant and turns into a somewhat daytime drama format. It misses all those things that make SG1 and SGA classics.

There is little exploring, and that little exploring is kept to limits that can be very clearly felt by the viewer.

Also considering that this series goes through 2 new separate galaxies, the only alien intelligence they come across, and I kid you not, is 1 biological and 1 AI.

Lastly, the Stargate is replaced by a ship as the main focus of the series. This wouldn't be half as bad except this ship contradicts itself all the time. E.g. it's supposed to be pretty much the most advanced ship in the universe yet it seems to be losing battle after battle. Also, for some weird reason, it cant go in and out of hyperspace without a rest otherwise the engines would be damaged.

As I said earlier, this new Stargate is like a day time show. It focuses on internal matters; meaning a lot of the episodes are about the crew infighting, something happening to the ship, or cowardly powering away from smaller ships.
