Okay but I wouldn't recommend...
3 September 2009
I bought this DVD for my young son who loves the ToyStory movies. I never expected it to be in the same league as the Toystory movies but what I got was just another lazy Disney cartoon, way below what I expected from Disney/Pixar. The story is unoriginal, the characters are dull and two dimensional, the animation is below par, even Buzz isn't that great. The movie could have been so much better. I especially hated the paint by numbers storyline. I know it's meant for kids, but even kids know when something stinks to this level lameness.

Although I did enjoy some aspects of the movie, I really liked the opening section of the movie, with the slag mutant monster, it just went downhill from there.

Dark City (1998)

One of those movies....

Dark City is one of those films that you love, but everyone else seems to dislike or even hate. I've always liked this film, ever since seeing it back in 98. I love the way it's hard to pigeon hole into any particular genre, it reminds me of many films yet never loses it's uniqueness. The movie also contains what I feel is Keifer Sutherlands greatest part as the tortured Dr Shreber, along with the Richard O'Brian playing a great role as Mr Hand. A sequel would be nice, I've always wondered what became of the City after the credits have rolled. I'd imagine the various fast food giants would be first to exploit the now free city, with numerous fast food restaurants appearing throughout, along with a multiplex cinema and possibly a bowling alley or two.

Matango (1963)

This movie needs to be seen by more people...
5 July 2009
I'd never heard of this film until recently, I bought it as part of a R1 Toho box set, mainly for the Mysterians. Matango really is a great movie, since watching the film, I've been trying to get more people to watch it. It should be hailed as a Sci-fi classic but instead it's a fairly obscure cult movie, which is a real shame as it's such a great movie. I'd love to see a directors cut/special edition of this film, complete with deleted scenes and all the other usual stuff you get with special edition DVD's, maybe then it would get the respect it deserves. Until then I'm going to force as many people as I can to watch it! The only issue with the film I have, is what do the mushroom people do once they've become mushroom people? Must be pretty boring just hanging around being a fungus.

Transmorphers (2007 Video)

Its got giant robots!!!!
4 June 2008
All I can say is THIS FILM HAS GIANT ROBOTS! Okay so the acting and effects aren't the best, but I've seen a lot worse. I really like this movie, the only real similarity with Transformers is the name and the fact its got giant robots, although the robots aren't really robots but Cyber-organic constructs, the stories good, the robots look cool, I can't believe this film got such a pants rating. I actually prefer this film to the recent Transformers movie. If you like low budget yet still cool sci-fi, you should give Transmorphers a try. Another good point, is the fact this films great for kids, I'd have now problems with my young son watching it, he loves it too BTW :-) We need more giant robot movies in the world!
