Disappointing. Failed to deliver.
2 June 2020
2.5 hours wasted. Its not horror, its not thriller. There is no suspense, no character development.

Stay away from this movie. Better watch a turned off tv for 2.5 hours, you will be entertained much more.

Cloverfield fans, enjoy.
3 April 2020
Simple as that. Its an action thriller, and if you are an Alien/Cloverfield fan you will definitely enjoy this movie.

Nothing mind blowing. Cliche? Yep.

Having said that, i enjoyed the movie cause it has no fillers at all. Other viewers are shovelling because there is no character development, and its done with laziness. Seriously now? You are expecting character development from an Alien/ Cloverfield clone movie? Also, have you watched the cgi & the effects? Some people complain, just to complain.

Its not a classic, but its pretty damn good.

What you see at the trailer is what you get in the movie.
27 November 2019
I do not get it, why the low ratings? Granted, its not a masterpiece, but for a low budget action movie it surpassed my expectations. Action is good, plenty of gore and blood, and .... well that's it. Hey, its an action movie alright, what else do you want?

Overall it falls somewhere between 6-9 depending your expectations, but its nowhere near as bad as other reviews. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Failed to deliver the hype.
26 April 2019
Its probably the first marvel movie where i was playing with my phone and that says a lot. Its a boring movie, full of plot holes, only 20min of fight scenes in total and drama. LOTS and LOTS of drama, moaning and crying again and again.

So, to sum it up: * Plot holes not even the biggest fans can ignore. * Inconsistencies between the movies. * Way too many characters, just to appear on the movie, doing basically nothing. * Huge changes to main characters, making them also useless. * Almost no fight scenes! Set the alarm clock after 120min in the movie. * Drama, crying, moaning, REPEAT.

You have been warned, but it doesn't matter because you will ignore all the negative reviews and still go and see the movie. That's what i did, the same mistake. Go grab a pizza and watch Arrow, trust me you'll have better time.

Its all about survival
23 April 2019
That says it all. Its all about surviving in the moment! Not planning for next month, not for next week, not even for tomorrow. Just survive NOW.

There is nothing stupid about the series and the decisions taken. Its simple everyday people just trying to get through the day. Not carrying swords, not experienced in sort of combat. Let alone gun head shots from 100m like other zombie series.

Cinematography, actors, tense music, everything is done flawlessly. Its by far the best post apocalyptic zombie related series/films i have ever seen. Forget "good guys, bad guys". Just survive!

Wasted opportunity....
30 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Off to the good stuff first. * The killer clown is the creepiest and scariest i have ever seen. * Considering its budget, the cinematography, gore, effects and make up are outstanding. * The killings are amazingly enjoyable. In this part the movie does not hold back! * It starts out very promising.

Now for the bad stuff: * They kill the main actress at the half of the movie. So.... there is no one really to care about. * The killer clown could have EASILY been killed AT LEAST 5 times during the movie. Once you realize the pattern as a viewer (the clown hurts the victim, victim fights back, knocks off the clown, runs away, the clown re-hunts the victim), it becomes extremely boring and predictable. * They put supernatural stuff crap at the end of the movie, so the clown can be resurrected at any time, hoping the producers to have an easy sequel excuse.

The worst thing of the movie is the "pattern" as i mentioned. I ruins a movie that had the potential of becoming a cult classic.

Awesome for what it is, but definitely NOT a horror movie.
9 September 2017
The movie is one of these "slow burn, take your time" movies. In a nutshell its just a house with some people trying to survive from an unknown virus.

The problem and all the hatred its based on two things: 1. THE TITLE OF THE MOVIE has nothing to do with the movie itself! Nothing comes at night, nothing is happening at night, basically its like calling the "walking dead" series "it comes at night". You got my point, its completely irrelevant. 2. THE GENRE OF THE MOVIE is not horror, action, splatter or anything like that. Its strictly drama. Drama and only drama. The virus is just an "excuse" to create the whole plot.

So there you have it. A very good drama movie with an out of the blue title. If you watch the movie knowing is very slow paced, with a semi-open ending, you are good to go and you will enjoy it. Simple as that.

The Monster (2016)

The monster 2016. It will bore you to death!
11 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Boring, boring, boring!

1. From the beginning you can see the movie tries very hard for character developing. And what is the best way to do that, by continuously having memories! Half of the movie is memories which adds to the boredom. It kinda gets the job done, but too many flashbacks boomeranged the purpose.

2. Very low budget. I don't mind for that, but the monster does not look real. Having said that i must admit they did their best for the given budget and the blood/gore was good.

3. Stupid decisions. Again, for a million time its one of those movies where characters actions make no sense. (SPOILER: Pretty happy the monster killed almost everyone. Idiots! Also, the monster outrun the ambulance, how the heck a little girl will outrun it and survive? Suriously, that is your best plan as a mother?)

4. They are supposed to be stuck on the main road. OK granted. Why the f*ck are there any other cars passing by? Not even one?

5. The final blow was just dull, uninspiring and unrealistic.

Overall the movie tried very hard for character development, but succeeded to bore me with too many flashbacks. It also tried to be "realistic", but the characters are just plain idiots. Do not watch the movie. Want something good and original? "Dont breathe" (2016) is an excellent one. Trust me.

One of the best "found" footage horrors
29 August 2015
When i saw the trailer i thought "oh, man not another shaky cam horror film" and "gosh, if this trailer is so boring, the rest of the film must be terrible".

Well i was dead wrong! The movie is a straightforward "cam horror" type but everything is so well done. It takes off after 40min but that does not mean you should skip it. Trust me on this one, you will need it for the end.

I must mention 3 things i loved in this movie:

1. Literally the are NO JUMP SCARES! Yes, not even one!

2. The "camera on hand" shows everything you want to see clearly. Yes it is shaky when they run, but every time horror comes, it is there and steady.

3. The last 10min where everything ends and wraps up with a twist felt so good! After the ending i was satisfied for seeing this film and did not felt cheated by the producers & writers.

Overall ignore the haters and go see the movie. It is miles better than Paranormal Activity and VHS. By far one of the best horror cam films i have seen and i place it high with "As Above, So Below".

Why so underrated?
10 August 2015
I do not understand why this movie is so underrated. It's fun, entertaining and for a horror/gore fan it gets the job done pretty well.

Not perfect by any means, but a nice film that kept me from beginning till the end. Did not get bored for one sec. Actors are good, editing, special effects and gore all done well. Again it is not perfect, but not that underrated i see here in IMDb. This is not a drama, or action adventure, so by judging it as a horror/gore film it falls between 6-8. No more or less than that.

Do yourself a favor and check this out. It will not write history, but you will have a good 1.5hour watching this.

A good horror film.
22 May 2015
Lets take as facts the movie has very limited budget and its a typical horror film. Having accepted that, the movie easily deserves a 10 and it was a pleasant surprise to watch it, since nothing good has came out for a while now. It is only 1hr20min including the intro, so there are hardly any fillers. It gets straight to the point. Limited drama and personal life info allows us to watch what horror fans want: a twisted horror movie. I do not want to spoil anything, just keep in mind that if you liked the trailer you will love the movie. It is nothing less and nothing more from a horror movie done well in all aspects according to its budget.

Like loop movies? Then you will love this!
23 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is an excellent example that a movie does not need high budget to be good and enjoyable.

Don't want to mention much, but be prepared for 1:30hr with only one house and 2 actors. That's it. So, having said that if you are the kind of type who liked "Burried (2010)" (only one actor in a coffin), and "The Triangle (2009)" (loop movie horror) then you will love this one. It combines these two films and does it perfectly well.

Keep in mind this is not a pop-corn movie, to watch with friends and comment the movie. You need silence, lights off, and your attention to it (no checking emails, fb, etc) otherwise it will be extremely boring and dull.

Did i mention this is one of the few "loop" movies that actually has an end? Yeah, this movie has an end, and a really good one!

Godzilla (2014)
3/10
Disappointing in almost everything.
23 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a film someone is going to see for the CGI, we already know that.

Thing is, it fails in everything else! No character plot, no story, but most importantly Godzilla appears only 15-20min in total of 2:30hour movie, and with interrupted short fights! It kinda reminded me of Dark Knight Rises and Superman Returns, where you only have about 10-15min (at best) fight scenes. Finally when the fight starts with the two bugs, it is continuously interrupted by US soldiers trying to do their stuff. I did not pay to see US soldiers, but Godzilla!

Looking for a story? Well, the excuse of a new Godzilla movie is that Godzilla "must restore balance to nature, that's why he must kill the two bugs". Real movie dialogue! Go figure. At least in the 1998 movie it wanted to reproduce, that's why it surfaced. We had a reason for its appearance.

Overall, please ignore this insult to the Godzilla movie history. Still my best movie is the 1998, and i really do not know why reviews bury it. Prefer the original 1960's Japanese movies. They are so much better than this, and Godzilla fights much more, with extended screen time appearance.

Terrible, terrible, just freaking terrible!
26 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Plot: long story short 2 friends end up being on a "true filming" bizarre thing where it must end somehow. It tries to be "original" but fails in all the aspects. Hey, it doesn't even have an ending, how nice is that!

First off all for all those user reviewers idiots here in IMDb claiming this is a horror movie, ITS IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE!!! Were the hell did you see the horror in this?

Additionally its core story is so small, that it gets filled with fillers all the time, introducing characters with no meaning in the movie (ex the salesman, talking with a chained guy, like these things happen all the time, so why worry about it?). If it was a short 20min film it might have been interesting. But 90min for this film is way too much.

This is one of the top 5 worst movies i saw in 2013, seriously flirting the 1st place. God why do they still make crap like that?

Bad! Really bad! Avoid it!!!
13 October 2013
FYI all other reviews claiming how good this movie is, are just staged. Maybe written from producers, actors, i don't know, but there is no chance anyone in this world to like this terrible film.

All of you comparing this to "Texas Chainsaw" should be ashamed of yourselves. This movie is a total crap, nothing makes sense no matter how much you try to accept certain facts for the sake of the movie. Its just not believable by any chance.

Don't WATCH IT! I really want my 1hr 27min of my life back, and you staged reviewers are part of this scam, telling people to watch this insult to horror films.

Why so many good reviews?
29 February 2012
I decided to watch it cause the hype made around this movie. I knew it is a family movie, so i wasn't expecting anything but a "cliche drama style". And it was exactly that, BUT nothing more.

Boring from the beginning till the end, i couldn't care less about any character, all the scenario makes no sense, and the flashbacks are much more than the "present" in the movie, explaining again and again why & when anything happened.

2 points from me due to production money spent on this crap, transferring an excellent atmosphere to the viewer. All the rest can be summarized in two words, BORING and CRAP.

Low budget film with no ending.
14 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
After reading all these good users reviews in IMDb, i thought i'd give a chance & watch this film. I didn't expect action, cgi effects, but really good script.

PROS: The truth is the actors get the job done, makeup is extremely good considering the films budget, music is also pretty good, and as for the script it keeps you till the end of the movie.

CONS: This film has only one flaw, and for me it ruined the whole movie, and that's its ending. Basically, it ends in a moment you didn't expect & as a viewer i expected to see at least 10-30min in order to clear things up & end with a conclusion. Any conclusion would be accepted at this point it ended.

Personally i hate films with no ending, letting the viewer thing whatever anyone wants, especially on films like this where possible scenarios left so wide open, making me thing that producers & writers are planning to make a sequel, which of course i will not fell on the same trap again & won't bother to see. If thats the case, the why bother seeing it from the first place?

Why do they film movies like this?
24 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the trailer when i saw it & was waiting to watch this movie. First of all mistakes have happened even before starting the film: the trailer itself shows you the best 2 minutes that occur almost at the end of the film (main road with cars smashing everywhere) so this kinda sucks. OK now, the movie is REALLY slow! I mean come on, if you have nothing to show us, make this movie shorter. Don't torture us (ex) with 2 whole minutes watching the girl going from the house to the toilet. And there are many similar shots. Also have you noticed the movie is called "Children of the corn"? Well, damn me if you see children for more that 10' & there is no corn field at all! Story makes no sense at all after half of this movie and even before that you'll be bored by its extremely slow pace, things happen just to happen, and acting is not good with the exception of the husband doing excellent job on his role. I was left with one question during & after watching this film: why the heck producers did you even released this? Didn't you saw it first? This movie is terrible and a disgrace to horror films.

PROS: First part of the movie is clear enough of whats going on. Really good job by the "husband" actor. Liked the policeman's death & the smashed cars.

CONS: The movie's existence & public release. First part of the movie is really boring, second part makes no sense by any means. No corns at all (are you serious???). Slow pace in many parts for no reason. Ending levels up the "no sense" phrase to "i want my 1:30 hour of my life back & first thing if the morning i will sue the producers".

No thanks, i'll pass...
18 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I like European cinema, i really do. And the producers of french horror/thriller films tend to create excellent atmosphere, effects & acting. This movie has all these i mentioned but, unfortunately nothing more. First 1/3 was interesting and wanted to see more. But as the film progressed i was getting bored, and at the end i couldn't care less about anything and anyone on this film. It lacked scenario and tried so hard to shine from the bunch of its kind, that failed miserably.

pros: as previously written effects, acting, atmosphere. cons: really bad "wannabe good" script, no character development, classic till "bored to death" ending.

What a mess!
11 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
First of all i'd like to mention from all reviews i read the best one is from user "dean2804" with whom i agree 100%.

Having said that, yes this movie is a mess. The good or the bad way? Well basically the mediocre way. Its 3 movies all presented in one: begins as a typical thriller with religious Christian psychos a-la "God hates gays so we kill them all", continues as a war/action and concludes as political.

The GOOD: nice work by the actors, camera, music, direction. Loved them all. Nice character development, not even one of them is a "random character just waiting to die" type. Really good job on changing the film from thriller/action/political without annoying the audience. Explains pretty much everything in the end, plain and clear.

The BAD: The "echo sound" at the end of the movie was useless & almost hilarious as an explanation. Simply put, just ignore it. Although liked the film & kept me till the end, i felt there was something missing. It was an OK film, but for some reason lacked the "wow" factor.

OVERALL: i'd suggest you to check it. You won't regret it and even if you don't like the whole film, at least you'll enjoy some of its parts.

OMG what a crap!
15 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This film has... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Extremely low budget without scenario, and some dumb twists (or they wanted them to be) to spice up this, uh, film. I expected it to be similar to "BURIED" (one man only for 1.5 hour putting yourself becoming one with the character), but no, this crap has nothing to do with that. Avoid it at all costs. I watched it on 2 "empty" hours on my job and still felt that i lost 1.5hour of my life! Prefer to see an episode from "the love boat" instead of this. And yes, you might find it too much, but this movie is THAT BAD! ---SOME NOTES FOR THE MOVIE--- 1. Almost 50minutes of the movie are just camera shots with literally nothing happening. 2. The main character actually does try & gets the job done, but there are so many flaws, that he just wastes his talent. 3. Don't want to add spoilers, and how could i since there are none to mention!

Love it or hate it
10 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This is a "love it or hate it" movie. Obviously from the rating i hated it.

I must admit that it kept me from the begging till the end, just to let me down so much by its end. This movie starts good, keeps going really good, and after 60 minutes it goes way out of logic and sense.

Some rich people torture young females just to find out "what exactly" is on the other world? They beat the hell out of them & even put their skin out in order to make the young female see the other side. I mean, come on! And when a woman learns it at the end of the movie, she kills herself without informing the others. I mean what??? She says "keep wondering". Yeah, right. You kill people for the last 20 years, you finally know whats going on the other side, and your best decision is suicide. Well, that makes sense!

Not to mention where the girls kill a whole family, but yet they sleep on their beds like nothing happened. Or when a girl finds a prisoner, instead of getting her to the hospital or call the police, she just sleeps by the side of her dead girlfriend, letting the poor prisoner suffer by its wounds. Well, all of these make absolute sense!

I also don't know how some of you guys compared it with Hellraiser or Hostel. This movie has nothing to do with any of these films.

3 out of 10 just because (despite its flaws) it kept me till the end. -7 out of 10 because the end disappointed me very, very much.

Jake's Closet (2007)

Drama or Horror? This movie has lost it!
11 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Basically there's a family where a little boy (Jake) thinks there's a zombie in his closet & his parents are fighting all the time.

This movie is slower than a soap opera... and suddenly, Jake decides to become Rambo and kill the zombie.

OK, first of all when you're going to make a film you must Decide if its a thriller or a drama! As a drama the movie is watchable. Parents are divorcing & arguing like in real life. And then we have Jake with his closet which totally ruins all the film! I expected to see a BOOGEYMAN similar movie, and instead i watched a drama with some meaningless thriller spots.

3 out of 10 just for the well playing parents & descent dialogs. As for the shots with Jake: just ignore them.

.. don't even waste your time renting it
2 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
simply because its THAT awful. This is one of those movies where you wonder "why" did they even bother writing it, and "why" did they even put money on it! In summary, there's just a guy who killed his parents, gone to prison, learn karate in prison (say what???), and after that tries to find his sister, but ended up somehow just trying to be the best on fights.

Did i mentioned the scenario twist? It makes you suffer 2 whole hours for a twist that's so pointless, and by the time they serve you this, you have no interest about the movie. His sister has killed their parents, now she works as a ho-re & sees his brother fighting.

No, i haven't read the original manga, but after this movie, i don't even have the curiosity to do so.

Overall, stay away from this movie as hell. 2 stars only for some semi-good fights, but even those are not special or something...
