The Devil to Pay! (1930)
A delightful, witty comedy done with class.
Willie Leyland (Ronald Colman) returns to England to old girlfriend (Myrna Loy), but meets new girl (Loretta Young). The repartee between the characters is delightful. My favourite scene is when Ronald Colman is writing a letter to Myrna Loy to break off their relationship. He has gotten a dog upon his return to England, and he asks for the dog's comments while he's composing the letter.
The film is well done, and the charm of Ronald Colman and Loretta Young makes the story a "must see".
Thelma & Louise (1991)
Not my type!!!!.
Personally i thought that this film was boring. It is probably the type of film that older people would watch. Although the film bored me in most places, there were 2 or 3 good parts. I thought that is was good when Louise shot Harlan. I also thought that it was funny when they blew up the oil tanker and drove off laughing.
Sometimes i couldn't even understand their accent as it was very western. I would not have watched this film if it wasn't a school project.
A Time Out of War (1954)
A Civil War story distilled to perfection.
"A Time Out of War" is based on the short story "The Pickets" and takes place during the Civil War. The emphasis of the story is on the personalities of the two Union pickets who are across a stream from two Confederate pickets. Realizing the futility of their situation, the soldiers decide to call a cease-fire for a few hours--a time out of war.
The film is tightly written and edited--every scene is necessary. I highly recommend this film.
