Bold, brash and a lot of fun

Bold, brash and a lot of fun.. More from where this came from. Loving Phoebe Waller Bridge's writing , and if you are a fan of hers then do not miss this 6-episode roller coaster.

Brutal, gritty, hard-hitting

Gritty, hard-hitting, brutally disturbing and real. Very well made. Not for the weak-hearted.

Just an average show with decent humour
7 August 2020
Season 1 starts of very well and keeps you interested throughout until the initial episodes of season 2.

as we move further in the series, it gets highly monotonous.. the writing deteriorates, the love story is dragging, there are plot points and newer characters introduced which I found highly boring (especially in Season 3 with its 26 episodes, most of episodes I fast forwarded or slept through because nothing significant seemed to be happening)

Season 4 tried to putt it back , but overall I have lost interest ..

In short - I would recommend watching Season 1 and drop if you start losing interest post that

Mediocre adaptation of The Night Of
5 June 2020
Good actors, good direction and production values.. mostly maintained the original storyline..

But it misses the many layerings, darkness and the grim seriousness that The Night Of has. The character of the key defence lawyer (Pankaj Tripathi) has been made unnecessarily comic. The court scenes aren't that effective or gripping not are the jail scenes. The family angle could have been completely or majorly avoided.

Overall the Hindi adaptation doesn't have the same effect or hold found it strictly mediocre.

Decent thriller with good music and acting, but more of bollywood style.
10 April 2018
For starters, this is a copy of the 1993 Harrison Ford/Tommy Lee Jones starer Fugitive.

The plot is basically the same, the first half drags on with the love story which is made unnecessarily boring with a triangle sub-plot and some typical couple dance numbers.

the movie gains pace in the second half, and the acting by Nagarjuna/Ramya is quite good. Background score is super and haunting and personally my favourite part of the movie.

Overall, its a decent flick.. Fugitive thriller plot + bollywood mirch masala of love triangle and songs.

Watch it for its brazen and defiant attitude!
9 March 2009
Here's a movie which shows you what the words "bold" and "brash" actually mean. Not only that, I think DevD has given a new meaning to Indian cinema and creativity.

Hats off to Anurag Kashyap for making this in-your-face gutsy flick!

As the promos state: it's a lust story ("Come, fall in lust") I do not want to say anything about the story here, because I don't want to spoil it for you. Just 2 words: "mind-blowing".

It is "loosely" inspired from the story of Devdas (its characters and the storyline) - but this one is all fresh and new. It's based in Punjab - the characters are all contemporary and hilariously "weird" - weird because you don't expect such characters and dialogues in Bollywood movies. But, at the same time, you can very well relate to them.

The acting by everyone is A-grade. Abhay Deol is brilliant in his best film so far, as the brash, arrogant and shameless brat who cares a damn about anyone. Both Mahie Gill and Kalki - play their parts of Paro and Chanda superbly. Their outspokenness and audacity is too cool. Not to forget everyone in the supporting cast (especially "Chunni") - they are all marvelous.

I think a lot of credit for this goes to the director - he had the guts to make a movie which takes the so called Indian "culture" and the concept of "love", and turns them over their head. Dev D is indeed a cult film and I hope it inspires other directors to trash their formulae and think out-of-the-box.

The music (Amit Trivedi) again is another star of the movie, (with no typical song-and-dance sequences) the songs carry on in the background, taking the story forward and depicting the characters state-of-mind. Cinematography is flawless. At 2.5 hrs, the movie is well-paced.

To sum it up, a classic out-of-the-mainstream movie which will be remembered for years to come Watch it for its brazen and defiant attitude!
