The Price of the American Dream (2001)
it was just bad
I felt like I was watching a bad after school special. The idea was great, but the execution was terrible. I had a huge problem with the dialogue, mixing the Mexican slang with English slang seem unrealistic and excessive. The Acting was another problem. The father of the little girl that gets shot seemed like he was nervous in front of the camera. The crying and the reporter was unrealistic. What type of news reporter interviews mothers of dead kids right at the scene with the paramedics, police officers and neighbor looking like they wanted to cause a fight. It was a free for all. The Reporter was at every scene right on time and what was going on with the boom mic guy. He was at the scene with the reporter. FYI: Reporters don't need a boom mics. The American guy in the movie OH MY GOD, what was going on with that character. He seemed like he was trying to hard to be a "crazy grigo" The little girl that gets shot on the shoulder and falls into a coma, Rosa says "poor little girl that got shot on the head." WRONG,ROSA. There were a lot of details that weren't paid attention to. A lot of editing mistakes, like the fade to black for no reason. The random change of shots. The whole scene when Rosa was having a dream of her daughter falling into a black hole and cutting back to the daughter getting raped just confused me. The cool montage of Christian threw me off. The montage was well edited and well shot, but it didn't match with the rest of the movie I understand that this is a low budget film, but I have seen many low budget films with less people and there very well shot and the acting is believable.
