So I can look at the original and see how good it its. The story is horrible. The movie is boring. The acting... .well. I don't have words. I can't say if Brandon Routh is a bad actor. I can say that he is a bad, bad, bad superman. He looks like Reeve, and his voice is really good, but he only got one face. The director always frame him from his back, maybe because he cant act, or in close ups. I Love Kevin Spacey, but he is so average in this role. He is not Gene Hackman. Sam Huntington is quite good thou.
Now let's get to the really messy part: LOIS LANE. I always thought that the mistake of the original series was that they got an ugly Lois (Teri Hatcher was the perfect one), but at least Margot did an AMAZING job as the sexy, smart, fast talking LL. Kate Bosworth is not only uglier than Margot, but looks and acts like a teenager. She is so, so, so, wrong in this role. The character is too dramatic, not funny at all.
How about that kid? A Superman kid ?? i don't think so. Check out one of his lines: "I Love you Superman". I can write better than this. Sounds Like a bad Disney movie.
THE SPECIAL EFFECTS: They are especially bad. Superman looks like a cartoon, like people from Shrek. I don't think Brandon did much real flying scenes. He is so white sometimes that he looks like a Vampire. They couldn't do worst even if they wanted.
The music: not even that. They had this amazing classic sound track and they use it only in a few parts.
Its so, so, so, so, so, so, bad that: 1- You can look at SUPERMAN IV (not a very good one) and think: This is far better than supermen returns. 2- You can look at HULK and think: This is far better and perfect than Superman Returns 3- You Can look at SUPERGIRL and think: This is as bad as Superman Returns
