Terrible Plot But At Least The Actors Are Trying to Make it Better
9 January 2016
Why did I see this movie? …. I don't know..maybe it's just because I love watching movies. Nothing makes me happier then watching a movie unless it's a bad movie. The Ring Two continues the same story and gives us more victims of the video tape as well as more questions to the original back story given to us in the first film. Now first of all what is going on in this film? Seriously, the plot is a mess. It's all over the place and on top of that it's boring. It's not even very interesting. The performances are okay they make the film a little bit better. The direction also made no sense and there were literally a few shots in this film that made it look like a made for TV movie.

It's Called Artificial Intelligence for a Reason
9 January 2016
This film takes artificial intelligence to a different level. Ex Machina is about a highly intelligent engineer who builds an artificial intelligent woman and allows one lucky technology whiz to come to his house and interact with this new robot being. Unfortunately things get complicated when the robot begins to develop feelings for the young tech whiz and he begins to develop feelings as well. This little group of actors were given almost very little to work with but made it work. Especially applauding the performance by Alicia Vikander as the artificial intelligent being. While some scenes were quite slow, the build to end of the film made those other scenes worth sitting through. The movie also puts you in a box just following these three people. You do feel though as if you are there with them experiencing this. This film was definitely well made though it slightly lacked in keeping the story at a good pace.

A Good Time for Horror Fans
9 January 2016
Not gonna lie the thought of being sucked into one of my favorite movies might actually be kind of fun however if it were a horror movie that might be kind of terrifying. The Final Girls is about a group of friends who do just that, they get sucked into an 80's b- horror movie full of every horror cliché imaginable and attempt to survive the runtime of the film. Now you may be saying to yourself I have heard the premise of this movie before but differently and yes there was a movie, Last Action Hero with Arnold Schwarzenegger. However this film does play the story differently. It has some unique touches that make it stand out. Some of this film was a little too melodramatic but from certain things that happen I could understand what they were going for. They may have just overdone it in some scenes. The acting was great though especially from Taissa Farmiga and Malin Åkerman. Basically if you are a horror movie fan you will probably love this film. All in all this movie was very fun and surprising.

Is it just me or is this movie just okay...
9 January 2016
It is surprising to say this movie didn't really scare me. The Ring is about a woman who comes across a video tape that seems to be causing the deaths of people who die seven days after viewing the tape. It's probably my own fault I waited too long to see this movie. I have seen so many horror movies that this film didn't really scare me. However that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. It has a good story and some really effective imagery. I was not scared but I was pretty creeped out. In my opinion if you have yet to watch this film and if you are easily scared watch it. But if you are not easily scared watch this with a group of friends so they can get scared and you will have a good time with it. It does have its ups and downs but it was an okay horror movie.

Welcome to the Park
30 November 2015
It's been awhile I think that I have labeled a film "a thrill ride" but seriously though this film was a real thrill ride. It takes place about twenty years after the events of the first film. There is now a functioning theme park on the original island. They get thousands of guest and they have tons of money making attractions. But then the people who run the park get a little greedy wanting to make more money and bring in more people so they create a new attraction, one that is more dangerous and scarier then the T-Rex. This film was fantastic. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard lead this film very well almost as a good as Sam Neill and Laura Dern did in the first film. The kids as well Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins did a good job. Colin Trevorrow also was a great choice to helm this film and he did a fantastic job directing. Now yes this film was a sequel and a great one at that. It's been a long time since I have felt that a sequel is just as good as its original. This film to me is really good and just as good as the first film. The special effects were great and one of the best parts was the music. I have been a Jurassic Park fan since I was a little kid and this is actually the first of franchise that I have seen in theaters as well. So this was definitely an amazing experience for me and hearing that original score in this film literally gave me goosebumps.

It Follows (2014)

It Doesn't Stop Following You
22 November 2015
After all the buzz I have heard about this movie, I get it now. It Follows is about a teenage girl who through sex develops a way to see an entity, it could be anyone, that will follow her until she is able to pass this unfortunate curse onto someone else. This movie makes for a scary good time. This girl is constantly being followed by someone that you may not see it coming right away or you do see it coming but it's creepy tone almost makes you want to run away. The music in this film definitely drives this film in the right direction. That combined with the film's unsettling plot make the perfect mix. After all that is what made Halloween a great movie. It has good performances but also has a few dumb character moments. This is still a must see for horror film fans and have a good time with.

Some Parts Funny, Most Parts Predictable
22 November 2015
Now there's a way I rank comedy, there is comedy that will last forever. After several watches of a film or a TV show that was really funny the first time it may still hold up and will be funny no matter how many times I watch it. And then there is the other side of comedy where it's only funny once and its pretty easy to see it coming when they are gonna try to make you laugh. This film fell into second category. In the movie Reese Witherspoon plays a cop who has to escort Sofia Vergara's character to another city where she is gonna testify against a drug lord. However things get out of hand and the movie takes you down the typical road of where two people who hate each other have to find common ground in order to survive each other so they can make it to their destination on time. Yes there were lots of funny parts they weren't gut busting laughs and now talking about them again they weren't even as funny as they were in that moment. Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara however did work well together and I could see them being a comedy team in another movie.

One of the Better Remakes
22 November 2015
A young girl, Mari, and her friend are brutally tortured by a group of strangers and left for dead. Soon after the group gets caught in a terrible rain storm that leads them to take refugee in the nearest house which just happens to be the house of Mari's parents. When the parents stumble upon the events that took place and become aware that the culprits are lying dormant in their home they begin to exact their revenge. This is one of the best remakes I have seen. It takes all of the good elements of the original film and escalates them to a level that you don't expect. From the beginning to the end, this film has a thrill level that just goes through the roof. Monica Potter and Tony Goldwyn as the parents of the young girl play their parts so well that you literally feel as if these are real people and you even feel bad for them because of what they are going through. You desperately want them to win. This film is a great re-imagining of the 1970's classic and it kept on the edge of my seat as a fantastic horror thriller.

You're Missing Out If You Don't Watch This Show
22 November 2015
To be honest I knew very little going into this show. I haven't read any of the comics and I didn't watch the trailer before viewing. I am glad on the trailer part because most trailers give away too much anyways. I think because of that I was able to get sucked in right away. From the first episode I was hooked into this dark yet realistic like world of a superhero who doesn't take crap from anyone. Most superheroes are like that but this one was handled and brought to our screens a bit differently. Her picture was painted with large brush strokes from the start to show us a vivid character portrait of what it is like to be a superhero in the real world. Not all superheroes wear capes and not all superheroes make good choices. As soon as the show opens with Jones doing her normal day to day investigating routine you are invested because of how good this show is made. This show is very well written and directed. And the acting is superb from the lead actress, Krysten Ritter, as well as the rest of the cast. This show deserves to be seen and you should watch it, clearly if you are reading this you probably are already interested. I am telling the truth when it comes to viewing this show though, it's so worth your attention it's not like the cookie cutter superhero films we have been getting almost every year. Not to say those films are bad because they are not. But this is finally something different that actually explores real issues too other then just aliens attacking New York City. It pushes the boundaries of what you would expect in a show like this and gives you something better then what you expected to see.

Should You Spend Your Vacation Watching This?
20 November 2015
The Vacation films are the kind of films that you can't take too seriously and in fact you shouldn't watch it unless you have a group of people to laugh along with you. The films are a fun time with a group of friends or maybe some family members. The film is about a family who goes on a vacation that of course doesn't go their way and they end up going through chaos. This film is not that great as your typical comedy film. Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins do provide the film with some good comedic moments. There may not be enough to laugh your butt off the entire time but there is just enough so you are not completely bored. This film was not as great as the previous vacation films but still remains somewhat decent and is worth at least one watch.

A Thriller That's Worth Your Time
20 November 2015
I unfortunately didn't get to see this in theaters so I had to wait for the DVD. But that's okay because it was worth the wait. This movie about a man who is basically stalking a married couple and invading their lives which causes conflict. Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall did great in this film. And the standout was Joel Edgerton, who in fact wrote and directed the film. His performance as well as his writing and directing were fantastic. It's a well paced, well made thriller that really will surprise you and keep you guessing. It's not a very predictable film. Certain plot points leave wondering if mistakes from the past can really have a harsh effect on people. It doesn't seem like something to think about while watching a movie but this film paints a good picture of why you shouldn't bully people.

A Underrated Movie Definitely
19 November 2015
The plot follows a man who discovers he has been brainwashed to kill a government official. This film was very good. It is a well made thriller that doesn't seem like it got the kind of audience that it deserved. Yeah it does have some lacking parts but none the less still holds up pretty well. I actually didn't know this film existed until a friend told me about it and they loved it, so I just had to see it. It is a very underrated suspenseful film with a good story and some great performances from Michael Dudikoff, who I had never seen in a film before but really impressed me with this film. Also Heather Langenkamp, best known for the Nightmare On Elm Street films, did really well and she also impressed me by proving that she could be great as a drama film actress as well as a horror film actress.

Did Poltergeist Really Need to Be Remade?
19 November 2015
Now I loved the original Poltergeist film. It was original, creepy and in some cases unsettling. I could understand remaking this film if the filmmakers wanted to try something new and make something scarier. But that didn't happen. This remake follows the same story, a family moves into a new house and they soon discover the house is being haunted by some spirits that want to take the family's youngest daughter. This film is not a good remake. It's the same basic story and the only thing that is really different is the upgrade of technology so it's just a modernized version which is completely unnecessary. The original version still holds up today despite being made in the early 80's. The scares in this film also do not work, they are all predictable and didn't even remotely disturb me.
