When Trumpets Fade (1998)
when trumpets fade
When Trumpets Fade is a very decent war movie, but the fight scenes seem a tad bit fake. They are fighting a battle in Hurtgen Forest at the border of Belgium that seems to be impossible to win, and the platoon attempts many pushes against the German line with no avail. The main obstacle for the US troops is the tanks and flak 88 guns that their artillery cant take out. The newly appointed Sergeant Manning is given a squad of 4 men and ordered to go and take out the flak guns across from the bridge. The movie shows the difficulties and mental stress that comes with leading in war, and how sometimes you have to go to drastic measures to maintain control of the situation. This film is a great tribute to the remembrance of a very important battle that most people don't know about. I recommend it to everyone and you should all learn to love SANDERSON!!!
Band of Brothers (2001)
Band of Brothers
This series tells the story of Easy Company, of the US paratroopers that landed in Normandy, and tells it in such a raw, realistic fashion that you'll be hooked after just one episode. The men of Easy company are just your average soldiers, but the series will change how you define an average soldier. Easy company is confronted with countless obstacles on their long road to victory, and that is where i think they truly become a 'band of brothers'. The hardships of war and the raw emotional bonds that are form from them are things that will be remembered by all those involved, and this series puts much emphasis on that. A specific struggle focused on in episode "XXX" is that of the WW2 medic. Easy companies doc spends more time scrounging for supplies around the ranks than he does putting them to work. He is constantly out of morphine, bandages, and every other necessity of a medic, which makes his job ten times harder than it should be.
Midway (1976)
Midway says it all... 5/10 stars
The battle of Midway was the turning point in the battle for the pacific, and the motion picture gives the audience a glimpse into the intricate strategies that went down. The movie captures not only the warfare, but also the romeo & juliet affair of a soldier in love. Six months after pearl harbor, one can imagine the tensions between Americans and Japanese citizens, but none the less Tom falls in love with Horoku. They long to be together but are forced to be separated because of their racial difference. This movie accurately shows the affects that war can have on society, and how hate of the enemy is sometimes considered enough to cancel out love. throughout the whole movie, the characters must overcome odds and go above and beyond to win, and they do just that. It was a good movie and everyone should watch it to learn about Japanese vs America... THE ULTIMATE SMACKDOWN
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
private ryan
at the beginning of the movie it starts out on the beaches of normandy, and the action and battle scenarios there are very violent but gnarly at the same time. The movie is very fast paced, with many epic gunfights, but there are also times when the actors show very passionate emotion which gives the story more feeling to go along with the constant killing. the men in the platoon sent to rescue pvt. ryan are goofy fellahs themselves and joke around with each other all the time so there is also some comedyish parts in Saving Private Ryan. the soundtrack to this movie is epic it is well directed and the acting was muy bueno (good) the end of the movie was well done with the fadeout back to the present time and his face changing from young to old!
