Cristina (2016)
I only wish it was a longer film....
This is an intimate look into the life of a cancer patient.
There is much hoopla surrounding new hope for advanced cancer. So many talk about treatment and survival of many years. But the statistics for mortality remain nearly unchanged. And there is no happy ending here. Cristina's life ends just five short months after the stage 4 diagnosis. Her unwavering love for her husband (and his love for her) are evident. Over everything else, she refuses to feel sorry for herself. She implores the viewer to live for NOW. Important message. Do not miss this.
Modern Love: When the Doorman Is Your Main Man (2019)
Sweet Starter
This episode was very well done. The lead character is a young woman trying to navigate her life as a single mother.
The doorman in her building appears to be quite judgmental of her boyfriends, even calling cabs for the ones he doesn't like! He is like a best friend to the main character, awho seems not to have many (any?) other friends.
The last scenes of the episode prove that the doorman is truly her best friend and that he has been looking out for her the whole time.
Modern Love: On a Serpentine Road, With the Top Down (2021)
Loved this episode!
I thought this was really a nice episode of the series. I have always liked Minnie Driver and this was no exception. Each episode is really different. This one features a woman (Driver) who is struggling to sell the car that is essentially the last tie she has to her deceased husband.
To the people who gave this a poor (1/10) rating, I do hope you aren't watching any more of the series. You do have to suspend reality, relax, and let the story flow. I thought it was beautiful, but if you don't agree, just move on.
