Another "Best of British"
7 November 2017
Another British Drama that shines like a star. I think, although in terms of genre, it is Crime Drama , it's very similar to the magnificent "Wire" They go in different directions, but still provide the same scale of quality. If we've never seen it, you're in luck. You can binge on the series. You will not be disappointed, wonderfully crafted and acted 9/10

An unexpected gem from Netflix
11 March 2017
I stumbled on this series on Netflix. Hooked after the first episode. Great acting from all the cast, especially Aden Young and Adelaide Clemens. After the first episode I knew I was in there for the long run, it's a series like True Detective or House of Cards, it's all about the narrative. Many before me have written plot summaries, I can't better them so I won't try. If you love great drama, please please watch this, it's a work of art. You will not be disappointed

A masterwork of Cinema! Yes I said Cinema, I have no doubt that 10s of Thousands of fans, would be happy to pay a double price for a seven hour marathon on the big screen.

So many brilliant performances . SurelyMichael Drayers' performance as "Eddie"

will lead to starring roles also Ben Vereens appearance was great.

The first time I saw Giovanni Ribisi, I knew he would be a star one day, he has a unique style and personality Writing this as I have episode 9 & 10 queued up. I know the last episode got a 9.7 on here so I'm hoping the series will be renewed

Suicide Squad (2016)

A highlight in this dull year
5 August 2016
Loved it from alpha to omega. Never lacked pace It must be so difficult to make a good film, in the insane world of Comic Movies.

I will opine SS has overcame the difficulty, and produced a cracking good film. Watched today in a 4DX cinema, most people would look at the prices of 4DX showings and look for normal showings. 4DX is ridiculously expensive, £30 for two seats😱 When you experience it, you will save your money to go to the next one. At this time 4DX is the best cinema experience you will ever have.

Suicide Squad is the benchmark, brilliant.

Brilliant film and 4dx is a awesome experience

NOT a lightweight
16 June 2015
I can watch an episode of many popular U.S. TV series, Bones, Good Wife, the CSIs etc. never had an urge to watch the next episode.

Great U.S. TV series I.e , the wire, sopranos, breaking bad etc, you can't wait for the next episode. The plots of White Collar, are smart, not brilliant but smart. What elevates this series is the cast. Every main cast member is superb, MoZ is my Favourite, I'm sure I'm not alone. That's why I became addicted to White Collar. The empathy between the cast is brilliant, An absolutely must see TV show. Pure entertainment! If you want entertainment? This is your show. It's on Netflix

Hard Men (1996)

The best British gangster movie ever
6 January 2014
A lot of reviews seem to slag of this film because it's Tarantino style, It most certainly is, does that mean it's not great, no certainly not. It's brilliant, it's funny and pathetic, it's comic book , every character is Perfectly cast. Many scenes are quite gruesome but it's all surreal !

There are only two DVD that I watch every year, Hard Men and Ghormenghast.

If you have never seen this treat yourself, you will Not be disappointed.

Just buy the DVD and enjoy you have nothing to lose

Future star in the mix
4 February 2013
Not a bad film, good cast of British actors. But remember this, future superstar in the making... Jack O'Connell. This young man is going to make it big. He was outstanding in the TV series ' The Runaway' and also in the Film the Liability.

The first time i saw Tom Hardy i knew he was a rough diamond,he just kept learning and polishing his act. I truly believe that this kid has the chops to make it to the top.

I also hope Sheridan Smith gets a big break, she is a hugely talented young lady. Watch the film you will be entertained. Watch out for Jack O'Connell, tell your friends, the kid is mesmerising.

Masterpiece of the genre
22 October 2012
Its Jesse James it must be a "cowboy movie", it is but it isn't. It's a drama set in the last years of the Old West. I often can't get my head around the fact when all this stuff was going on, here in England we were expanding our underground railway system. Ride the underground in London or or spend the time in the undeveloped states. Like everyone who saw this film, we are not going to really understand how hard life was for the majority of the USA in these times. The beautiful majesty of this film begs the questions.... Why didn't Brad Pitt, get best actor for this? After not winning for this, why didn't he get Best Actor for Moneyball? Why isn't he a 1 to 100 bet with the bookies to grab Best Actor for "Killing them softly" Casey Afleck also turned in a brilliant performance.

where did the budget go ?
15 December 2008
80 million budget. On what? For that sort of money I was at least expecting some spectacular scenes. Nothing ! So we are left with the film, I could say it was a long time since I had seen such a bad,big budget film, but I saw "the Happening", which was abysmal, well this is sub-abysmal, the dialogue is awful, the script is awful, the acting is awful, and I never thought I would say that about Kathy Bates. Keanu needs to be finally consigned to stud. I loved the Matrix, Constantine and Point Break, but lets be realistic, the man is a plank, he can't act. Often a film will be good enough to carry a bad actor, well this isn't that film, he's going down with the boat. Save your money and buy a loved one an extra Xmas gift. Use the few hours of your life you will save on a nobler pursuit.

Another winner
26 March 2007
Once again Shane Meadows comes up with a gem. He stands beside Mike Leigh as a true and honest film maker, who portrays English society with frightening accuracy. He once again casts known with unknown, and Thomas Turgoose stands out as a huge talent. Along with Dakota Fanning,Abigail Breslin and Haley Joel Osment he offers so much, let us hope Thomas T.succeeds. I am unsure if those outside of the UK will really understand this particular film, for what it is. The theme and message within the film is timeless. We are all swept along by the influences of our generation and are often led along the wrong path, only the stronger willed can avoid falling into the hole that had been dug for us. In "This is England" we do see some redemption. Why hasn't a Hollywood studio mogul kidnapped Shane Meadows and Mike Leigh and gave them a blank cheque and a year or two to give them a blockbuster. This is unlikely but possible. At present "Dead Man's Shoes" is Shane's best work. Along with his long time friend and co-band member of "She Talks To Angels"(inspired by the Black Crowes track of the same name) Paddy Considine and Paul Fraser, they put together the masterpiece that is "Dead Man's Shoes". The Bourne Ultimatum will hopefully put Paddy onto the Hollywood A list. If Hollywood doesn't grab him I will still wait in high anticipation for his next film.

The Village (2004)

How low can he go ?
12 December 2004
Sixth Sense, I loved it; naught but a jot of originality, but superbly acted by the 3 main characters, and direction and photography were superb. Signs, zero for originality but again well acted and same for direction and Photo. Unbreakable much as Signs, but the rot is setting in. The Village, well, beautiful to watch, but stunningly bad. I have seen many people ask why such excellent actors such a William Hurt and Sig Weaver sign up for these films, well it's for the money, one bad movie isn't going to take you down. When MNS understands that it might be a good idea to adapt a great story or maybe have an idea and then get a great screenwriter to mold it then he may achieve what he is capable of. I very rarely post comments on IMDb or Amazon for DVDs, but sometimes you just have to say something; and that is usually when a film is either incredibly good or stunningly bad , The Village is the latter...in spades!
