intriguing, fascinating, brilliant
29 September 2003
This may be one of the best films I have ever seen. It provides thrills and style, but contains haunting psychological aspects, too. It is an example of excellent character development. Nikita, the main character, is frightening in some scenes, and endearing in others. The lead actress gives a stunningly good performance. Every actor is great, no matter how small the role. Every character is a three-dimensional one. Nikita begins as a tough, unfeeling street punk. She remains tough throughout the film, but at the same time, she is a tender, passionate soul. I loved the romance story, it was sweet, but realistic. A brilliant, simply brilliant, film.

good, and unusually graphic
31 May 2003
I saw the episode about the bulimic girl, played by Calista Flockhart, in health class. It provided a visceral, graphic look into eating disorders and stayed with me a while. The whole vomit-in-the-closet thing was disgusting. The movie overall showed the horrifying reality of bulimia in an excellent way.

very entertaining
26 May 2003
"The Matrix Reloaded" was highly entertaining. It wasn't an oscar winner, but it was well above average. The action sequences were all fantastic, especially the freeway scene! The acting was good, and the romance was nice. The only thing I didn't like was that ten-minute freaky dance scene. It would have been cool for three minutes, but it started to grate on my nerves. Overall, however, this movie was a high-octane, very entertaining film!

South Park (1997– )
much more than it lets off
25 May 2003
I know South Park looks like toilet humour- and in the beginning, it was. But it moved on to hilariously brilliant political satire! The Earth-Day brain-washing festival, NAMBLA's poster child, native medicine- oh my god, it's funny. Although often crude and crass, it reaches a brilliant, frank level of political satire that isn't usually shown in it's marketing.

Hannity & Colmes (1996–2008)
Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-Dum
21 April 2003
Although I usually enjoy debate shows, this one is very average. Even though I usually side with Hannity, there's no denying that he's just not all that intelligent. He just says whatever all the other conservatives are saying. The liberal Colmes isn't much better. They do have good guests and war coverage, though.

Cute and funny!

This movie was witty, clever, and made me laugh! The flashbacks are hilarious, and I loved the message and the eighties music. Janeane Garofalo was great, and so were Romy and Michele. I thought that it was an adorable film!

Smart House (1999 TV Movie)
This is pretty bad
22 March 2003
It's a horrible movie, but it's not annoying. It' simply bland. The acting is awful, as are the special effects. It does have a good concept, but it is completely destroyed. None of the characters have any depth- yes, I know this is a disney movie, but still, a little character development would be nice. The party scene may be one of the most ridiculous scenes in a movie- ever. Eighth grade boys are not fans of *NSYNC. They would not dance around like a boyband. At this age, they're probably exploring their darker side with rap or rock. The main character and his crush, Gwen, have no chemistry. The whole film is just bland and stupid.

7th Heaven (1996–2007)
They're all so perfect, it's really, really annoying.

First, let me get something straight. I have no problem whatsoever with religious programming. I myself am a devout Roman Catholic. But this show is absolutley HORRENDOUS! The father never gets angry or raises his voice, and they all have an unrealistic politically correct way of solving all their problems. The characters are always serious- I never see them laugh or joke around. It is good to portray a functional family, but this is just intolerably peaceful. Another thing that annoys me about the show is that it gives Christianity a "lame" label. The parents don't really get what's going on. It's awful. I swear, I would go crazy in this household.

You Wish! (2003 TV Movie)
Nothing to Special- A little corny, but pretty enjoyable.
17 March 2003
This film wasn't too great- no golden globe winner- but it was a lot better than I expected it to be. The acting was good, and it had a connective storyline and interesting characters- something not usually found in a disney movie. I really enjoyed it- corny and cliched, yes, but annoying, no. I liked the characters, and the film occasionally gave us a little depth in the characters. I enjoyed it- 7/10.

So Little Time (2001–2002)
Stupid!
16 January 2003
Actually, the twins aren't such bad actresses- not Oscar winners, but they have decent comedic timing for lighthearted fare. But the material- UGH! This is the most unrealistic show ever! For a start, nobody's parents would get them a beautiful sports car like that to drive around in. Also, no one can afford a new outfit for every scene. The outfits are actually hideous and garish, and the hair and makeup is all scungy and nasty looking. Nobody has guys swarming to them at all times of day- and for another thing, they're always at school but they never, ever have class! They never learn a thing! The characters are stupid and shallow, and the parents don't even look old enough to be parents. This is just a trashy, trite, unrealistic show that gives teens nothing to relate to and little girls a bad, ditzy image.
