This was a horror movie?
18 November 2011
This movie does have some jump scenes in it, but I found it to be satirically hilarious. The entire movie I was laughing and screaming consistently. It's absolutely bizarre and hilarious. I can't imagine this wasn't a joke. If it was, this is brilliant. If it wasn't, oh well, watch it anyway, it was still funny. Definitely fun to watch, definitely funny, great movie to watch with friends. The movie has kind of a cheap look to it, and the costumes and special effects are absolutely terrible, which just makes the entire movie more hilarious. Very solid acting, unexceptional sound track. Don't think it's not scary, there are some very intense scenes, but you're going to be laughing more than screaming. Enjoyable, fun, frightening... can a movie get any better?

Like a bag of jelly beans... but not in a good way.

If you read the book, please don't see the movie. I repeat, if you read the book, please don't see the movie.

I just read the book, and was by a RedBox and decided to see how well Jackson could put such a beautiful, poignant novel into a movie. I should have known, when it was so short, that it couldn't be any good. But honestly, I was appalled at just how bad it was.

The one thing that can be said is the actors did a wonderful job, and it's pretty. There's a couple good scenes in it, but overall, it's just sad.

They kind of took several flavors of jellybeans and threw it into a bag. It has nothing to do with anything. I did not get buttered popcorn, I did not get cherry, I did not get strawberry daiquiri. I just got a lot of sweet, bean-shaped tidbits that kind of, halfheartedly formed something resembling a plot.

The book made me sob. The movie? It kind of confused me.

It was so bad, I started making notes on green sticky notes and sticking them to the bottom of my television.

I would so not watch this. Don't bother.

Simply Terrific

Warning: Spoilers
This move was terrific. I have seen it three times, twice in IMAX. The first time I saw it in normal theater, and when I saw it, I HAD to read the graphic novel.

Which I did.

And then I saw it again. I really recommend seeing this a couple times. You'll miss stuff otherwise. It stays as true to the graphic novel as it possibly can. It's as long as I think you can possibly make a movie, and it's truly wonderful. The special effects are breathtaking, the dialogue is natural and true to the book. Being a fan of Harry Potter (the books) I am a true lover of films that stick to the story line, and this DELIVERS. Fans? You'll love it. Never seen it before? You'll love it, too. The movie is food for thought, with a nice plot twist at the end that will remember for a while. My first thought after I found out what Ozymandias did was, "Wait... he *did* it?" Each character has such different moral guidelines, each character is superbly well cast. And the special effects? It's kinda gross, but darn these are great effects.

I can't even put into words how much I loved this movie. It was excellent.

I will say, though, that in the book and the movie Dan Dreiburg is weird. He has an UNHEALTHY obsession with owls. Make sure to pay attention to that. Everything he does has to do with owls. :)
