Not a Love Story: A Film About Pornography (1981)
Symbolic Violence
This film simply shows how the porn industry reiterates the oppression against women in a symbolic and sexual way. A man in the business stated that men have fun seeing women being submissive because of female emancipation, because "men don't want to be equal to women". Men have always had power over women. Even today, women are hurt, raped and humiliated in most societies of our world, and female sexuality is still controlled. So that's a good film to think about all the consequences porn has in our everyday lives, for this is sex education, but this is also a reflection of the mentality of our sick society.
Of course, if a guy sees in a film women being raped and the rapers are seen as cool guys, this will desensitize him, as the psychologist states. The pornography shows violence against women as something exciting and there's no way it could be a positive thing.
Dogville (2003)
The end is worth the pain of watching.
This film is really painful. I confess I couldn't stand to watch everything, because the violence and abuse are sometimes too disgusting.
However, in the end we have a real twist. We get to understand the whole story and suddenly we get in touch with the revengeful core we have inside ourselves.
I think it's a film that shows how much evil can be found inside people. Jealousy, envy, hypocrisy and the desire to take advantage of someone who needs help.
The main character is nothing but nice and sweet, yet she's seen as dangerous to everyone. The only reason is everyone kept abusing her, what brought light to their unseen failures.
It reminded me of Allegory of the Cave in a few moments.
Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009)
Misogynist and sexist
A misogynist and sexist film. In addition to displaying young and beautiful women's bodies as objects, they are killed in grotesque ways for having committed the crime of being lewd and lesbians. And they die by being crossed by a sword that resembles a penis and explode in a white jam that seems sperm.
One might say I'm exaggerating, but how to justify that the fat coward boy has the idea of filling condoms with holy water to throw at the vampires?
The only girl who is saved is the virgin who wears more clothes.
This film is a synthesis of practices that Bram Dijkstra calls therapeutic rape. The girls who show their sensuality are all punished by symbolic phalluses.
It's very disappointing that a film for young men educates them with such a disgusting mentality.
Questionable taste jokes complete a movie whose veiled message is that sexy women are dangerous.
If it were not my professional duty, I would never had wasted my time watching this pure garbage.
The Vampire Diaries (2009)
Triangle poorly constructed and a pinch of Manichaeism
I don't know how can anyone not read the books this show is based in. Of course we don't expect it to be just like the books, but the original energy shouldn't be changed.
That's why my vote is not 10. It's been too changed. When I first knew a show would be made I was pretty excited. I've waited anxiously for the Pilot.
Unfortunately, the second half of 1st season kind of disappointed me. The support casting was ignored and we were forced to swallow a fake triangle. The truth energy of the characters was forgotten, and one more time the TV way to do things won.
I hope they have more respect for the original story next season, and make screenplays more consistent.
