Hollywoodn't (2009)
The perfect Hollywood nightmare scenario
There are many reasons to recommend "Hollywoodn't", from it's gorgeous cinematography, it's powerful score and it's sense of humor seamlessly interwoven with it's sense of horror. I don't want to reveal too much, but according to their website, they're trying to launch this as a full fledged series, which would be great! I'd love to see a well done horror show about the dark side of Hollywood. I was a big big fan of David Lynch's "Mullholland Dr." and had heard that it was originally conceived as a one hour drama, but the plug was pulled at the last moment. "Hollywoodn't" is not of that caliber, and it's much lighter and old school horror movie in it's tone, but I think the filmmaker was channeling Lynch combined with a healthy dose of John Carpenter when he came up with this tale. The guy who plays the director in this is hilarious, he reminded me of a Brett Ratner interview I once watched. All of the acting is superb. I think writer/director Jeremy Sklar has a great idea here and a great eye for visuals and a great ear for dialog and music. I'll watch out for this show if it makes it on, otherwise, I'll just keep an eye out for this filmmaker's work which shows a lot of promise.
