Squid Game (2021– )
10/10
I wished I could unwatch this. An EST you need.
19 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As many people already said: it's VERY disturbing. And I've seen a lot of disturbing things.

This show will confuse you and will engage you. True emotional rollercoaster. For me - it was brutal. A little too brutal. It was brutal to the point I had to disconnect, sit back, thinking it's just crazy. Sick.

But under all this brutality - incredibly beautiful. As life, as its true beauty you can only appreciate in the context of death. My brain was freaking out. On a subconscious level - I was playing a game. I was barely surviving. I loved and I hated. I was crushed and I was happy.

This show was way too original to ignore. Way too fresh.

Good idea. Many surprises. OK, I guessed 2 plot twists, but still, it was surprising. Not a cliche. Not "another show".

Most of the time - completely different experience. Good acting. Interesting characters. Intense action.

Yes, I wanted to unwatch this. But then again, one of the best shows I've ever seen. I think I will never see games (any games) the same again ;)

Metro (I) (2013)

I won't forget this movie soon
29 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The movie has its mood. Great effects, simple, but nice story, some tension equally distributed between private and main disaster. I was engaged in watching, in the story. Also - great camera work, great pictures.

What I didn't like is the part where some passengers were electrocuted, well, I'm an electrician and I don't understand why did it happen WHEN it happened. The lights in cars were lit - so why nobody got electrocuted as soon as they started to get out and there was water all over? Then - the control crew tried to TURN OFF the power from the tracks, and it looked like they turned it on instead. It makes no sense, I haven't understood this part. I know, it probably was like they failed to turn off the power (due to some technical malfunction), but still it doesn't add up.

Last but not least - I didn't like the acting of the actress playing Irina. She wasn't very convincing, especially running like hell with her stilettos. Is it even possible? If it is, she is a good runner ;) Andrey and Garin characters were very convincing. They did a great job. In my opinion their part was the main part. Though their story may look trivial, it's leaves some thoughts.

Not outstanding, but a very good movie worth watching.

Lost (2004–2010)
10/10
Unbelievable good
3 December 2009
I'll avoid writing things others wrote before me. What is it about you can read elsewhere. I'll explain why I give my 10/10 to this one.

The characters: I find them full and real. The story is SF, however characters are so well made you can easily forget they are fictional. Their behavior is probable, yet not fully predictable. Each of them has unique motivation and problems. Each of them has real personality partially exposing in every scene, partially hidden like in real life. All of them are perfectly acted. By perfect I mean perfect. No glitches. I just cannot imagine how they could be more convincing.

The plot: Simply a masterpiece! I can't believe they actually can show this! I can't believe they made it! In a world where a viewer is just a consumer, kept dumb enough to buy stuff they told him to, dumb enough to be manipulated. The show touches subjects that are not often talked among common people. It touches a taboo: "why", the most basic "why all this". Who we are. Why do we do things. What is life and what is reality. Dealing with such heavy questions the show manages to remain interesting and packed with action.

I see some great inspirations from the greatest SF writers, like P. K. Dick. It's the most P. K. Dick show ever. The show creators are just my fellow P. K. Dick followers :) What's more, it's appealing even to average viewer. It's really eye opener for some. I'm glad some very important Dick's ideas can be presented to wider audience. Even if they don't quite understand all they see, some of the message will remain in their subconscience.

Yes, there are some inconsistencies in the plot. Like in every story. Some things look silly, like the perfect makeup all the time, changing makeup in following scenes. But the show is so damn good we can forget those tiny details. Yes, sometimes the characters do something really dumb. Well... just like real persons.

I don't regret one single minute spent watching Lost.
