Dakota Bound (2001)
8/10
Post apocalyptic softcore
22 November 2009
In a post apocalyptic future, a group of young women hide isolated from the rest of the world in an bunker only leaving for gathering food. On day they come in contact with a group of raiders. During the encouter the girls kill the raiders and free 2 female slaves. After the death of their old leader, sister Helen, the girls conclude they can't hide forever and decide to head for sanctuary in the Dakota mountains. One girl however sees the opportunities this world offers to the strong and chooses a different path.

Probably the best in the post apocalyptic themed Bound Heat movies in terms of film-making. It has definitely a stronger story than the others and quite a bit of action through it. Even if these action scenes are on C-movie level, the production values are bigger than in Lloyds other erotic movies. Of course it has still all his usual trademark scenes: Slave auctions, halfnaked girls working in the mines and the washing/preparing of the slaves. There is less nudity than in later Bound Heat movies, which is not that bad in my opinion, as some of these scenes in other movies tend to be overlong. Here the amount of nudity is just right. What's most outstanding of the movie is it's star Fawnia Mondey. This is all her show, she for sure likes her role as bad girl and plays it with verve. With her athletic body she is also credible as a strong woman who can hold her ground in a harsh world. Her Liz is one of the best lead characters of the Bound Heat series. While her later performance in Lloyd A. Simandls "Cries of Innocence" was rather mediocre, here she's very charismatic, on the same level as Kira Reed and Rena Riffel (the top actresses in Bound Heat movies, but not appearing in Dakota Bound), if not even better. There are 2 lesbian scenes with Fawnia of which especially the first one is very erotic. She knows how to move and seems to enjoy making out with other women. Also the other girls here are not bad at all. For a low budget movie it's quite nice, just don't expect this to be an action movie, even if it's sometimes marketed as such. It's a softcore movie with some aesthetic nudity/sex scenes and it's definitely worth watching for Fawnia Mondey.

No Escape (2008 Video)

Uncommon WW II softcore
16 October 2009
It's toward the end of world war II, the Russians are cosing in on the eastern front. A female nazi officer is planning her personal retreat, but the emeralds intended to ensure her future welfare, were stolen by a bunch of fugitives. The soldiers under her command kills some of them and capture on of the girls, while another girl is able to escape. The captured girl is first interrogated the hard way but then becomes the lover and complice of the officer. The escaped girl hides in the house of her cousin who isn't that pleased with her appearance. The cousin accepts her as a house slave and her mood is lightened up, when she hears about the hidden emeralds. The race for the treasure is up.

I guess there are only a handful erotic movies with a WW II setting in the last 20 years, so this is quite exceptional. While you can't expect a huge production design the movie does quite well in the portrayal of this time, so it does feature original military vehicles and authentic looking uniforms. Even though the beginning scene looks more like a weekend meeting of WW II fans or memorial, together with the sets and other clothes it manages to set the atmosphere of the time. The cast of women is smaller than in other Bound Heat movies, here you don't have the usual bunch of half naked slave girls. There are basically just the 4 women described above, but all cast well. In my opinion this works better than just having a number of decorative beauties. Rena Riffel, whose career in Bound Heat movies spans almost 10 years, is as usual the dominant woman (as female officer) and looks hot in her uniform as well as in her fashionable civil outfit. She has some hot lesbian scene with Sabina Barne (the captive girl). Sabina is also very seductive and is constantly teasing Rena. While the officers room has some luxury, the setting of the cousins house is one of poverty and even starvation. It's devoid of any glamour usually seen in these movies, but has a charm of it's own. The sex scene between the 2 girls here is more kind of funny than erotic. Besides the 2 lesbian scenes there are also some other sexually suggestive scenes which are more on the nasty side. Character and storywise "No Escape" also differs from other movies by LLoyd A. Simandl, as at least 3 out of the 4 women are strong-minded, quite unscrupulous characters who are willing to kill for their purpose and not just innocent victims. All in all this may not necessarily be a movie for the casual viewer of erotic movies, but those who want to see something new and uncommon will sure appreciate it.

The Slave Huntress (2007 Video)
7/10
Slow start but good second half
2 October 2009
Walking on open hayfields is a dangerous thing in these post apocalyptic times. When sisters Anna and Mary just do so, Anna is caught by a slave huntress, while Mary is able to escape. With no intention to give up Anna, Mary follows the tracks of the huntress. She manages to take her down in her hut, but at this time the slaves are already sold in a military guarded outpost. Mary pretends to be a slave buyer to get access and finally manages to find her sister. Now she just has to find a way to get her out.

Some patience is needed with this movie, as the first half is pretty slow moving. While the girls are goodlooking as always in Simandls movies and there is enough nudity, there is just a lack of tension, both storywise as in terms of erotic encounters. It doesn't help that the dialogs are mostly offscreen and dubbed. Then the lesbian scene between the huntress and Anna is not very exciting. Zuzana Pressova (aka Deny Moor) as the slave huntress is not bad in principle, she sure is very goodlooking and can be sexy, but she doesn't quite has the charisma of other leads in the Bound Heat movies. Also, she's more the glamour kind of type and not necessarily the nature girl hunting in the wilderness. But now for the good part, things improve considerably in the second half of the movie. Dialogs are now spoken directly and the storys focus is mainly on Lucie Oborna as Mary, who is more the kind of strong woman typical for Simandls movies. And Lucie gives a good performance here, it's just too bad there is no lesbian scene between her and Zuzana, instead the huntress gets a whipping by Mary. Anyway, there are about 4 or 5 scenes of women getting whipped (by other women of course), so if you have a fetish for that, "The Slave Huntress" may be a movie for you. There is also one very hot lesbian scene with Lucie: When Mary pretends to be a lesbian doing business with the slave trader, her sister is given to her as company for the night. When she notices the slave trader is spying on them, she has to make love to her sister to hold up her cover. This scene alone is worth this movie.

School of Surrender (2005 Video)

Bound Heat at its most erotic
4 September 2009
After the death of her husband Veronica inherits a grand piece of land, but to properly exploits it, she needs the agreement of her stepdaughter, who prefers to make a national park out of it. To break her will, Veronica intends to send her to an specialized institute, where she shall be teached obedience. To proof the lasting results of the institute, the warden lends one of the trained girls to Veronica as company. While Veronica and the girl spend a happy time together in the countryside and even fall in love with each other, the stepdaughter is having a hard time in the dungeon of the institute.

I felt the story had some potential that wasn't fully developed. Veronica and her stepdaughter don't even meet in the movie. From the moment Veronica and the girl leaves the institute, you have these two on one side and on the other side the women in the institute, but hardly any connection between them apart from a phone call at the end. Focus is mostly on Veronica, but none of the characters has enough screen time to develop. But then with a cast of so many beautiful women, it's hard to do all of them justice. The warden (Petra Slavik) is the usual dominant woman and well played, but the story doesn't give her much to make a lasting impression. What's really outstanding here is the chemistry between Veronica (Dagmar Vejnar) and the girl (Bound Heat regular Marie Veckova) as lovers. There is a certain tenderness in their scenes, but also much erotic heat. Dagmar almost seemed a bit too nice here for a woman causing her stepdaughter so much pain. For both Dagmar Vejnar and Petra Slavik "School of Surrender" remains the only movie they ever starred in, which I think is a pity. I sure liked to see them in more Bound Heat films. Disappointing is only the actress in the role of the stepdaughter, she's totally boring and unconvincing as a supposedly defiant girl. Her scenes also feature some electro shock treatment which can make you feel a bit uncomfortable, though it looks not that realistic. As always with Simandls movies the photography is very stylish and the use of kimonos and traditional Japanese hairstyle makes this one particularly elegant. Overall "School of Surrender" has one of the best cast of the Bound Heat series and also some of the best lesbian sex scenes, which makes it a good starting point if you haven't seen any of these movies by Lloyd A. Simandl yet.

Run with Fear (2005 Video)

Simandls take on Nunsploitation
1 August 2009
Besides leading her convent, the mother superior also runs a slave trade, selling young girls to the orient. She fakes certain signs of the plague on some peasant girls to explain their later disappearance. Since she also needs some virgins, she sends her men to kidnap 3 noble girls, one of them the daughter of an important aristocrat. These girls are meant for the sultan of Istanbul, whose emissary is expected soon at the convent.

You won't find a real story, well-developed characters or even some glimpses of social or religious topics of medieval time here. The focus of director Lloyd A. Simandls movies is on naked young girls in chains and beautiful wicked ladies as villains. While "Run with Fear" is far from belonging to the best of the nunsploitation genre, with it's polished photography, nice settings and plenty of good-looking women, Simandls movies are the best you will today in the sexploitation/erotic movie genre. As these are independent/low budget production they also have their limits. In this one there are some ridiculous fake sword sounds in the fight scenes, but that's about the only time the movie feels cheap. The costumes are rather simple but effective. Performance of the main actors is pretty OK and rather playful. At least the actors in the villain roles seemed to have some fun. There is plenty of gracious nudity here, actually the scene towards the end with washing and presenting the girls to the emissary is a bit overlong. There are 2 good lesbian scenes with one of the girls (as nun) giving a very sultry performance. While Simandl usually sticks to female only sex, here are several "sex" scenes between men and women, although the men keep their clothes on and the women are half-naked at best in these scenes.

I recommend this movie to nunsploitation fans and those who like undemanding but visually sophisticated erotic movies.
