The Forgotten Army - Azaadi ke liye (2020)
Missing soul
First of all Kabir Khan did not get all facts right or did not cover them. There is no mention of Rash Behari Bose. You cannot make a movie or series on INA and yet not mention Rash Behari. His role was instrumental.
The INA was formed on September 1, 1942 but the show shows a time line before this date.
There was prisoners primarily from Malaya, but the show stresses on Singapore only.
And then Subhas Chandra Bose.......A shadow of him is just shown not the full face (not considering the real video cuts from 1942). His role was pivotal. Why mention him in just one or two words?
Ok enough of historical facts. Let's talk about the series as such. This is just a love story in the back drop of INA. If you are searching for real historical facts, this is not the one. It lack soul. It doesn't give any goose bumps.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Will not end as best ever show
GoT will now not end as the best show of all time. Credit to this episode. I have been a GoT fan for last 8 years and I am a bit disappointed after this episode.
One thing is good for me. I was in a dilemma - whether GoT or Breaking Bad will end as best ever. But I am certain. GoT does not have the chance.
I now don't ever care who seats in the iron throne.
Sacred Games (2018)
The first REAL series made in India
Unbelievable! That Bollywood or India will pull off this kind of series is simply unbelievable. Thank you Netflix for changing the way India looks as series, for changing the concept of what a series means.
It was unstoppable. I started watching the first episode and could not stop until it finished...No stoppages in between..it is that much gripping..breathtaking.
You get to see all you have never seen before in an indian series - thrill, suspense, mystery, crime, investigation. And above all the direction and actiing and the story and the plot.
I never though I will ever see an Indian series like this. Some thing that will remind me of the Hollywood series FARGO or NARCOS. Yes. This one is at par with these series or maybe even better.
Eagerly waiting for next season, if there is any. And NETFLIX, please bring more and more and more of such kind to series to India...The new and young generation is bored of watching saas-bahu, fantasy, no-head-and-no-tail soap serails!!!!!
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
Mushkil for Dil And Dimag to understand this
After watching the whole movie I could not understand any heads an tails of it. The movie is made just by combining the story and scenes of other romantic bollywood films of Yash Chopra and Karan's own previous films. The ending is no different than Kal Ho Na Ho(KHNH). Every scene reminds of that film and as usual this on is no near to KHNH.
Why did Karan Johar took credit of writer and director? Anybody who have watched Chandni, DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, KHNH, Yeh Jawani Hain Deewani can come up with such a rotten story.
Karan is only good with his 'Koffee' and filmfare hostings.
Really did not understand who loves who...Whose love is uni- directional and whole love is bi-directional....This is not a love triangle or love quadrant...This is love polygon...You never know how many sides are there..
Tge only reason I could watch till the end was because of Anushka...Thast one star for me and the second star is because Karan has not taken SRK in lead role...
Satyanweshi (2013)
Will make you fall asleep
Movie is dull. Casting was awful. Direction is pathetic.
While there is a whole new wave of same old sleuth, private/consulting detectives being created worldwide, it is very likely to expect Byomkesh in a rejuvenated format. The re-incarnation of Sherlock created by BBC or our own Feluda by Sandip Ray has raised the bars. Byomkesh could not cross this hurdle. Even the two Byomkesh movies played by Aabir (I don't remember the names) was better.
Even more irony - Ajit looked smarter and sharper than Byomkesh.
You can refrain from watching this movie even if you are a die hard Byomkesh fan. No harm done. Nothing to lose.
Chander Pahar (2013)
Stunning
The first Bengali movie that left me spellbound. I have seen a lot of Bengali golden era classics. But this one will have a separate place in my heart.
I am not a drama lover. I do not expect all movies to be dramatic and so I give this movie a perfect 10. yes, you may find some faults but you have to consider the budget constraints.
The first half reminds me of 'The Ghost and the Darkness' or should I say it even betters the Hollywood flick. Then the treasure hunt and lastly fight for survival.
The movie picks its pace in the opening scene and this pace never drops. The intensity remains the same throughout and this is where the director/editor deserves full credit.
Waiting to see such king of movies from Tollywood - a industry that was once considered one of the the best in world cinema. Come on Tollywood-- - you are back!!!
Talaash (2012)
Fails to excite...boring...not upto Aamir's standard
You might have seen movies with great start and mystery. You would like to see how the mystery unfolds. How the detective comes to a conclusion..That's what keeps the viewers tied onto their seats. You always have a sense of urgency.....what's going to happen next?...
Well this movies starts with a promising note..but as it progresses its loses the grip...sometimes even bores you..you also won't like to know what in store for you next.
And then when you see the climax (I hate to call it climax) you are left with a question - how on earth, in this 21st century, can someone create a solution like that? Often you see when a story writer cannot find a solution of a good mystery he will at the end tell it was all in dreams, or it was some unearthly spirit...you lose interest...its like stabbing your now creation. Do not write mysteries which you yourself cannot solve.
I judge movies by its intensity, depth and story. Not by acting, camera works or cinematography - I don't even understand those technical terms.
If you are like me refrain from watching....Better watch Kahaani one more time...
Sherlock (2010)
Mesmerizing....Absolutely brilliant..except 3rd season
Sherlock Holmes has been my childhood hero. Among all superheroes I have read/watched He stands out high. He is no super hero but not from this planet either...
I always wanted to know how would Sherlock Holmes solve mysteries had he been in this era...My wish has come true...Full credits to the creators.. A perfect tribute to the original SH.
And the ways Benedict depicts Sherlock is amazing. Depicting Sherlock is not a joke. Because people already have His image in their heart..
A must watch for all crime, thriller lovers.. Cant wait for the season three... ...........................
Now i start with season three...In one word a complete disappointment. First episode focus on the reunion of Sherlock and Watson. A drama was expected and was done with elan. Though nothing much on investigation side.
The second episode goes to my worst ever list. It acted like a sleeping pill to me. No intensity, no fun - a kind of marriage party. Moreover there is drunken Sherlock trying to solve a case and after all these an abnormal explanation of door-locked-from-inside-murder.
The third episode was picked up a little but yet no way near to any of the episodes on first two seasons. there are lot of unexplained answers which you will definitely find in a moment if you are a true Sherlock an fan.
At the end showing Moriarty is coming back for 4th season...WHY??? Isn't he dead? What is this? Sherlock jumps and came back in 3rd season. Fine. Now Moriarty also coming back in 4th season...Not fine. What next? Magnussen coming back in 5th??
Not waiting for next season....
But I would recommend every one to watch the first two season and give rest a slip.
Ra.One (2011)
Nice one
A milestone in Indian cinema...
I was getting bored and irritated with all the mindless movies that get released every now and then. This one comes as a refreshment. "Thoda hatke". Don't except to match the technology used in Hollywood movies. This movie has its own style - a blend of Hollywood with a feel of Bollywood.
There are few memorable scenes with good visual effects. Truly, you haven't seen anything like this on the Indian screen and the three action set-pieces — the first in London, the second on a local train in Mumbai ramping the victoria terminus and the third in a designed gaming arena — take your breath away.
It worth a watch.
