Better than I thought
5 November 2006
I just got back from seeing this movie and I have to say it was pretty good. I didn't go to the theater with high hopes, however, so it was easy to meet my expectations. We loved the other 2 movies and had to finish the trilogy! This one could be titled Santa gets a midlife crisis--the plot is based on Scott's frustration over having so many responsibilities and not enough time with his family. There are some disappointments; of course, Bernard isn't in it and we all love him; just one line with no explanation tells us he must be gone. Also, Santa doesn't seem himself; yes, he's frustrated, but you don't see the excitement he had before. And,the plot gets resolved so close to the ending that you still haven't processed it, and the credits are rolling! But if you liked the other movies, go see this one; it's not as action packed, it's a little sappy, but it's clean fun and you'll laugh if you let yourself!

Just remember that it's not Shakespeare, it's just a Christmas movie. Go and have some fun! Enjoy the Canada subplot, eh?

sorry-last not best

The majority of comments I had seen here reflected my own disappointment with this movie. I like Star Trek, and TNG crew is my favorite, but come on, guys, there wasn't an original thought in this whole movie! As far as movies go, it was ok, but as a sequel, perhaps the last, it didn't make the grade. I will say I did enjoy the ATV scene in the beginning, and I enjoy seeing the characters have fun. I was happy to see a sense of closure(Riker/Troi wedding) and a sense that they were all getting on with their lives after 15 years. But the cliches, the same old jokes, and ESPECIALLY the stealing of ideas/scenes from other movies, Star Trek and others, were just too many to make this a truly enjoyable flick. I don't want to spend two hours seeing old movies rehashed! I was doing ok with it until the firefight on the Enterprise when Riker told Worf,"Cover Me" and dove into a side panel after the bad guy. That sent me over the edge! George Lucas scripted that "garbage dump" scene much better 25 years ago! Instead of spending my time on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next, I found myself watching "clips" of various sci-fi movies I had seen in my life. If this is the last Trek, what a bad way to go out--sorry, guys!
