This mega-psychotropic inducing movie makes as much sense as a rat making love to a grapefruit..... that is, not everyone would enjoy the scene; but, the vision will be remembered for years and decades to come! Dali was a man onto himself...and the story of his love for his wife Gala makes for a great love story on it's own. The viewer is not quite sure if Dali was a mad-man or a true genius..but, my opinion is that the latter applies, after one sees his art-work. The movie itself is a true work of art that one would expect from a cinematic magician, like Orson Welees (who I believe helped to produce said movie) The cat piano scenario is the closest anyone will come to seeing a LIVE Warner Brothers cartoon!

Something super-toxic must be pulsating in Brampton , Ont. Canada'a water these days (could be the cosmic energy of it's popular, award winning & beloved, arts/hockey-supporting mayor: Susan Fennell)...it seems that just like the convergence of star power that in the late '80s and '90s centred on Scarborough which produced such diverse bright lights as Mike Myers, Jim Carrey, The Barenaked Ladies and Paul Tracy, just to mention a few Brampton (aka Bramladesh, B-town, and Brownton ) is the hometown or hot-bed residence of a new wave of celebrities such as ; (Metal Queen:) Lee Aaron, Russell Peters, Tyler Labine, Michael Cera, Paulo Costanza , Shawn and Aaron Ashmore, Keshia Chanté, (comedian) Scott Thompson, Richard Marsella ,(Broken Social Scene member) Jason Collett, Vivita, Lewis Mercer, Mike Burry, Dave Lei, Brandon & Brittany (or is that Britney) Watt...and 'er, Myself. Well 'Worm' film-maker: Richard Powell might as well join this talented lot (Hell, me too!). My date at a preview screening (Vivita, actually ) was very surprised to learn that it was a Canadian, short & not a feature from a major studio. Powell is on the right track by hiring pros and spending a crap-load of money on this short. If I were a hep, influential producer ( which I ain't; either her or influential), I'd take this to a Major Producer (to get to someone like Jack Nicholson; say) to be made as a Major Studio feature (like the filmmakers of 'Sky Captain' did). Powell's (and Zach Green's) insight into psychological horror film-making is commendable. If this trend & growth of home-grown talent keeps up; B-town should be a viable contender for being the 'premier' film-making capital of Canada!..Let's hope all of the above mention talent could stay in Canada, join up into a super-cinematic think-tank & create some amazing feature films that''s blow the world away...as for Richard Powell & his associate: Zach Green..Keep your eyes on these two filmmakers, genre-lovers ...they are a-movin' on up!

This Canadian television program was ahead of it's time with it's cutting edge, racy humour. Just as the Richard Pryor show was in the 70's. Some of it's best sketches deserves to be on a compilation. Kenny Robinson used some of the best Toronto and international stand ups/comedy writers, and reached cult status in the black & fringe community. It was not for all Canadian tastes at the time , but for today's 21st century audience it would fit in just fine. The overweight 'Fat-Assed' dancers were a hilarious go-go feature for late night Canadian t.v....not something you'd see in SCTV or hilarious house of Frightenstein, matey...but, may be right at home on Canada's modern MTV (actually would have been an improvement). A Canadian comedy club icon, Kenny should branch out into making motion pictures, for which his irreverent wit is best suited. Hats off to Kenny!

This movie can be seen with or without psychotropic medication..but it helps.

Great art-rock techno-score..great art-house visuals..great b-movie fun! A cool, sick & loving homage to late 20th century grindhouse/drive-in fare & J-Horror! Definitely has the makings of a cult 21st century frat-house fave. Not for the squeamish. An intense hammer-to-the-head study of ecological waste. Director James Hawley's sure to be someone to watch out for in the future...whether rock vids, or feature flicks... He is definitely an inspired chap. If you see this movie, be aware that it's a tribute to b-movies. Anything less is 'civilized'.

After the toxic fallout of the 60's love generation, this 1971 avant guard film captures the mood, confusion and questioning of life from a fractured generation; which is still relevant today. Look past Lloyd Kaufman's crazy Troma Studio persona..this is a very deep, intellectual, here. Kaufman plays a dual role as the director & 'Abacrombie' a geeky ineffectual man, in the post-hippies, early '70's America, his struggles with authority (eg. cops and his boss,played by Stanley Kaufman), trying to fit 'in'; trying to get out of his 'bag' & 'get in with the beautiful' & 'groovy' but never seeming to; as most of us in general have felt in our lives...he is chasing his dream girl (Lowry), who finally comes around, when it's too late. In the B&W documentary like scenes..hard questions are asked,to various characters; but we hear in the crew's background Kaufman (in the role of director) being chastised by the crew as a bumbling director, who lacks authority. One gets from from this movie (especially the climax)..the disillusionment & death of the flaccid "American dream", as personified by Kaufman's (the actor) nebbish character. I cannot think of any other way of understanding or 'getting' the message of what director/writer Kaufman is trying say cinematically, than this movie. It's relevant to any lost generation, out there, trying to adjust to the ever-changing, rapid 'culture shock' of the 21st Century. Whether you are a homey, jock, hipster, emo, suit or freak...this movie is a 'stone' American hidden filmic treasure...worth studying or being viewed more than once, whether watching 'straight' or 'turned on', Ma-a-a-an.

This look at six regular North American suburban pals in their 20's is almost documentary-like in it's execution, but also shows the multi- talented film-making/actor Butler Brothers' cinematic comedy teething period; as most of their self-made movies (I've seen) are almost a parody reflection of their own personal lives (like Canadian Laurel & Hardys meets Woody Allen or modern Canuck Marx Brothers meets Grumpy Old Men)..The low budget style of their movies reflect stark reality & humour. ..One should check out "Larry & Burt's Gut Rot" their (2010) online episodic dark-comedy effort on Youtube; it could be seen as a sequel to 'Bums'. In the 'Gut Rot' series (which I can see being eventually compiled into a classic feature movie or movie series)...the Butler's tragic characters are older, more bitter,pathetic, lonely and dealing with the harsh reality of the early '10's; with the boys' 30-something characters having to deal with baby-mothers, unemployment, apathy and dead-end jobs...Jason & Brett Butler (much like their counterparts in Frankenpimp (2009) & The Notorious Newman Brothers (2009)) have arrived as fully realized, comedic film characters (Which one may say is like comparing early Peter Seller's tamer 60's Clouseau portrayal, to his broader 70's playing of the same character..more slapstick & satirically defined..but, still a tremendous joy to watch; either way). Thankfully the Bums-like characters (tho' not written as such) are seen to be individualistic survivors, struggling in a gloomy, unforgiving world...I look forward to seeing more similar themed Butler Brothers films..to see how the rest of their lives play out. Grumpiest Old Men, maybe?

If you mix Iggy Pop, Bowie, Freddie Mercury & Mick Jagger with the Misfits and Metallica...You still would not come close to measuring the charisma of Southern Rocker/Front Man: Erirc Scealf. I have had the pleasure of seeing this amazing rockumentary in Toronto and it is one of the greatest musical features I have ever seen. We see through archive and latter day footage, Eric and the boys go through their trials and tribulations of balancing a raunchy rock'n'roll lifestyle with their personal family lifestyle. It ain't pretty, but is a sonically and visually awesome & a beautifully American-Gothic cinematic experience for rockers cum cine-files. The music is awesome as well...don't be surprised if the Unsatisfied band gets a major record deal in the near future...the ARE the hardest working band in rock & definitely it's future!

I'm not sure if the movie's torture theme came before Saw movie series, but,I'm sure it did. I must admit, I was very, very squeamish watching this b-feature (& I'm in the horror industry). It is a primal, bloody and maddening picture. When it first came out theatrically I had not heard of Saw yet...the more shocking aspects of the movie, was it's realism, because of it's low-grade, low-budget, documentary-like visuals.

Even the soundtrack is rocking and gives the movie an edge. The Unsatisfied band's southern-rocker front man: Eric Scealf, in the lead is great (as the psychotic horror director), who could play ominous to bat-sh*t crazy in a heartbeat; with the best that Hollywood has to offer.

Anti-Horror is an underrated an indie blood and guts gem..the rest of the public should very much beware!

The Batman series creator must have been overworked to have created this schlock! I suspect that he was either misogynist or he really did not want to make this series and wanted to show the studio gate-keepers a lousy pilot, on purpose. The Diana Prince actress and her overbearing earth mother's acting was cheesy enough to rate a lifetime achievement award on the Razzies. The prancing in front of the mirror was awful really awful. Cheesy music, Cheesy set & Cheesy SFX,,what fun!!! DP's Wonder Woman costume as ill-fitting and looks like a cheap wonder woman costume. The actress playing a good looking Wonder Woman, in the mirror reflection (apparently how DP sees herself) was a complete bimbo...the awkward flying out the window was a gasser..don't get me wrong, I dug these affectations. A 5 year old youtube fanboy could create a better pilot..ya gotta see it, man!..Wow, it's awful! As a lover of bad movies (The Room, Troll 2, Grindhouse, Frankenpimp)I gave this short flick a 10...then again..maybe I should get my head examined.

John Ervin the writer/director is a studied fan-boy...He loves movies... While Vixen Highway is not a perfect B-Movie Classic.. it is a flawed masterpiece that shows Ervinknows his way around the block as a writer/director & cinematographer.

If Russ Meyer (and in some 'insane'circles, Ed Wood)had a younger brother, it would be Ervin....

..& I like'em both! Vixen Highway captures the auteur spirit of the 60's french new-wave & and the grit of 70's bad-boy directors. He has a cult-filmmaker's mentality and a self efficient talent, not unlike Chaplin or Woody Allen..that being said...Ervin's flicks vividly capture the freewheeling human spirit. I hope John Ervin continues to make motion pictures, because he has got a light..a joyous spark that shows the potential of a great filmmaker; if given more chances!

We don't watch Zombie Movies for the sinematic ambiance, good acting or for Oscar-Worthy Qualifications ...as gorefests go...this is a flawed Masterpiece....

As for the sfx its Great....one cannot ask for less in a Zombie Movie... It takes itself seriously and does not have any element of lazy parody or any winking at the camera like a lot of schlockfests, of late....It's a movie man...it's only a movie..

Wooden acting...Bad dialogue...my goodness..that sounds like a classic horror-flick to me....I dug it...Even paid to see it theatrically.. The movies gonna last; and live on; when all the negative reviews are forgotten...I give the young filmmakers credit..My two cents, Baby!
