Closure is a beautiful thing
28 September 2020
The chilling ease with which an incredible number of murders are achieved makes me want to check the door locks every other minute. The deaths are completed as if the murderer were ordering dinner at a drive thru"Extra ketchup please." As for the actors, I'm going with Cusack. He may have been around longer than Velveeta compared to the others, but his delivery shines. Every time that smug mug was on the screen I found myself surging closer to catch every syllable. I can dilly dally along with most drawn out propositions on "who did what to who" but this really took my patience and whipped it around like a dog with a toy. It took until episode 8 to finally give me clue about what I was supposed to care about. By then, like a dog, I had buried my I Give A Rats Arse bone and was just along, like many relationships, for closure.

Hard core Company Man leaves entire career behind for kid he has known two hours. I don't think so. Way too formula and unbelievable.

So painful to watch I had to find a tylenol
17 September 2018
This movie, despite it's cast, or perhaps because of it's wonderful cast, was so painful to watch. I felt bad for each of the women trying hard to make this debacle work but failing miserably. Each one of them respectable actresses with top notch work under their belts...reduced to this muddled mess. Diane Keaton, god love her, is way past the stage where her fumbling cuteness would inspire the love of a dashing pilot. She looked more like his mother than his lover and their kissing scenes were incredibly awkward. Thank god the editor knew when to close the door. At least Candace Bergen got to play it for laughs and that was refreshing. Jane Fonda's scenes where she had to play sexy included a pursing of her lips and heavy contouring makeup. She is 80 now and looks great but still, the magic wasn't there between her and love interest. Did I care about any of these characters? Not really.

Murder Most Foul
10 November 2017
The exquisite cinematography alone was breathtaking. Combine the visuals with deft, smart writing and you get an award worthy script. Each performance by the multitude of great actors was inspired. If you appreciate seeing a movie with more than just chase scenes and mass killings, then this is a must see for you. This is a double thumb-er in my opinion. 👀 🔪♥️♥️♥️

Ray Donovan: Abby (2017)
Season 5, Episode 1

Really I love this show, but this...this was Not Good
7 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The writers have so much more in them than this. Apparently Abby has gone to the Great Beyond and all we got was a tee shirt showing Abby smiling at Ray like he was the second coming of Christ and not the man that cheated on her constantly and let her down more often than a new hairdresser. Frankly if they threw in the pottery wheel from Ghost and the theme song from Love Story we would have a trifecta. Abby and Ray NEVER looked at each other or talked to each other the way they portrayed them in these saccharin sweet flashbacks. This felt like carnival hucksters throwing smoke and mirror gimmicks to deal with Abby's death...way too Common.

Adjunct: A wedding looks like it may burn out before it begins. A friendship is formed with Rays daughter and a male that may be harboring some of her mothers body parts. Bumbling brother continues to bumble. Ray is introduced to Susan Sarandon who, by the way, still has it.
