Grandpa's Psycho (2015)
Not Bad for an indie but no ending!
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
The movie was not bad for an indie movie. Some of the filming is not very good, and you can't really tell what is happening, like what he is doing with the bodies in the boat. Like Also parts of it are not believable, for example that so many women are total bitches and sluts. It must be like the town they were talking about in Tommy Boy when they think if the factory closes the whole town will go under "thats when the whores come in" LOL! Also, that the grand daughter doesn't tell anyone that her grandfather is torturing and murdering women. It leaves a lot of questions, like does the daughter know? Some of the acting isn't too terrible, and the plot is totally believable; there is no supernatural stuff going on. So that makes it more scary. but.........
it has no ending! How can a movie have NO ending? It just leaves you hanging! Terrible thing to do to a person! To watch the whole movie and it just seems to end right in the middle of it. That just ruined the whole movie for me.
The Abandoned (2006)
Pretty Good, Not too scary
Only writing this because I searched every page of reviews for "bridge" and no one else has, what is up with the bridge being out? If it was already out, then how did SHE get there? Or is she already dead before that, since Misharin is her father, and he is a ghost, BTW, if he is a ghost, how did he contact her ALIVE and in CA to get her to go there? That seems to be breaking some kinda ghost rules. Also, why do they see the doppelgangers when they are supposedly not dead yet, or are they? Also, they do not say who the other people in the other house are where the truck stops in the beginning where the mother dies. Unless it is just a neighbor and not a relative. Other than these details, good movie. Scary enough, not a lot of gore, but just enough mystery and artsiness.
Meadowland (2015)
Fantastic Ending!
Those who didn't like the ending, or said it left them hanging, just didn't get it.
First off, I think the movie was, most importantly, REAL. It was how real people, in the real world cope, not Hollywood people, or how Hollywood THINKS real people would. The real world is ugly, dirty, and selfish, but can also be beautiful, innocent, and full of wonder if you look at all of it and don't just focus on the negative. Its about a couple falling apart and doing things they normally would not do. With her the cutting, having sex with a stranger, smoking DMT, and listening to metal. Him, using his pull as a cop to find his meeting friend's daughter's killer's address. The loser brother-in-law whose life is a mess (doesn't everyone family have someone like this?).
As for the ending, she promised to take him to Africa to see the elephants, but instead actually ends up finding him an elephant! And by doing so, she looks into the elephant's eyes and realizes that she lost her baby too. They lock eyes in mutual pain, loss, grieving, understanding. In that moment, she is able to connect with another mother who understands what it is like to lose a child. So he has his meetings, she got an elephant. What more do you want from an ending? Want to see if they let her adopt the kid? If she went back to teaching? She still is going to need a LOT of work, either years of therapy or group, an elephant can't fix broken. But anyway, who cares? That would be the boring part. May as well leave it on a high note.
