Give me a break
29 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The intercut scenes with the boy who has black makeup on and the scenes with the black 'figure' who is, I'm guessing, supposed to be a demon plus the scenes with the black painted arm and long nails are all unnecessary for the investigation. The only reason they are there, in my opinion, is to stretch the length of the show. It's one thing to show the surroundings, share the history of the house and talk about how one feels as they are doing the investigation, but these interjected scenes are ludicrous and definitely not entertaining.

Give me a break
5 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What we have in this episode is a 15 minute story stretched out to fill an hour. The woman telling the story is not believable. With her speech patterns, she is difficult to listen to. I have a hard time believing she never talked to her friends about the issues she had or that her mother did not tell her about the 'curse'. If I could ask Roth for anything is that he vets the people whose story he is televising much more thoroughly. I've watched a great deal of paranormal documentaries and this one just doesn't cut it.

Good Show
2 April 2022
To the producers of this show, please lose the flashing lights, strobing and other editing effects that can trigger seizures and migraines (from which I suffer).

I like Cindy and sense she is the real deal. Her way of reading a site is wonderful. Shawn, please don't be the 'Zak Bagans' of the series. The less drama, the better.

Were it not for the editing, I would have rated the show a 10.

I liked this film
20 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have read many reviews on this movie, but prefer to ignore the ones which are highly critical. I am a fan of H. G. Wells, I've read his 'War of the Worlds'. I 've learned over the decades that when I like the book, I don't like a film adaptation and visa verse.

The main theme I like in the future is the population all share the same skin colour. This seems feasible, especially if there has been hundreds of thousands of years for intermarriage. It projects, to me anyway, a community which survives together or dies apart. I especially love the organic design of their city. That it is built on the sides of cliffs shows it is designed for protection of the population. However, the acceptance by the Eloi of their fates, and the lack of determination to fight back, don't really ring true to me. Neither does the 'language' of the Eloi. It lacks finesse as does the explanation of how they learn English.

I do love the movie score, especially the sounds of the children's voices singing.

I disagree with one of the 'goofs' listed that it would be impossible for the kind of climate changes that happen whilst Alexander is vaulting into the future. As we are experiencing now, climate changes can happen very slowly or have sudden jumps as we have had the past couple of years.

I would recommend one watch this at least once.

Short review but I hope helpful
14 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not the biggest fan of Stallone but I adore Sandra Bullock and Benjamin Bratt so this a movie I enjoy, especially on Netflix or Amazon Prime, where there aren't a lot of scenes from the original version cut.

Bullock's character has an in depth knowledge of the 20th century, especially the parts that are censored in her 21st century society. It is hard to swallow that the police in her society are so clueless and not really trained to deal with 'bad guys'. That said, I do enjoy how her character and Bratt's work with Stallone to stop Snipe's character, a true sociopath.

A pet peeve (I live in the UK) is how they have changed the name from Taco Bell to Pizza Hut. The dubbing over of the name Taco Bell is poorly done and as far as I know, there is no reason given in the credits. That may seem silly to some, but Taco Bell is a common fast food restaurant in California.

I love the scene where, driving in a cruiser with Bullock, Stallone's character learns of Schwarzenegger being elected as President. Although this has not come true, Arnie was governor of Calif. Rather prophetic.

Brilliant Documentary
24 September 2021
I love the film 'Galaxy Quest' and watch it whenever I have a chance. I understand the 'theme' behind it. However, this documentary brilliantly explains how the movie, the actors, the writers, the director and the fans made the movie what it is today. The movie brought tears to my eyes as I watched each of the actors remember Alan Rickman, a lovely man and great actor.

It is my hope that this film will be part of Science Fiction history in the way it explains the love of the fans for the creators.

Disgusting show of animal cruelty
8 September 2021
I caught only 10 minutes of tonight's episode and that was 8 minutes too much. Celebrating the slaughter of an animal who has been on this earth millions of years is not my idea of good television. I have had the misfortune to cross paths with people whose ignorance is way over the top and it is not at all entertaining to see people who could take part in life by learning a trade that creates such as building homes for those who are homeless.

Meemaw rings true.
7 September 2021
Having watched 'Young Sheldon', I feel that Meemaw is portrayed true to form. She reminds me a lot of my paternal grandmother, full of honesty and sometimes that honesty has barbs.

Sheldon, as usual, is uncomfortable with the way Amy and Meemaw confront each other. I like how Amy's character is maturing and growing, with the help of Penny and Bernadette, into someone who has, not only a sharp mind, but also emotions. All in all, I really enjoyed the episode.

Big Bang is a show I can always count on to bring laughter.

Doc Martin: All My Trials (2017)
Season 8, Episode 8

Doc hasn't cleared the woods.....yet.
20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
An excellent episode. The doc still has some hurtles to clear, but due to quick thinking and unexpected opportunities, he has managed to at least continue practicing in Port Wen.

The American played by Sigourney Weaver has a run in with Mrs. Tishell and learns she doesn't have the disease she thought she had.

PC Penhale is still the inept, clueless dolt. He has a bust made of himself when he learns he is the longest serving PC in the village.

Kudos for the writing and direction!

Doc Martin: Faith (2017)
Season 8, Episode 4
8/10
Parents return, boy returns and a dog finds a new home.
6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was lovely. Despite PC Penhale's ineptness. Morwena's parents arrive and surprise her first thing in the morning after returning from Kenya. Mum discloses she has liver cancer, a diagnosis by another doctor. Two break ins, one at the school and one where rescue boats turn out to be related. Although neither entailed thefts of items, both had photos torn up and a face ripped out. Dan, the son of a villager, returns home from uni and visits the pharmacy for medication which Mrs. Tinshell will not give him until he gets a diagnosis from Doc. He goes to the surgery, is told he has shingles, that he has put on a significant amount of weight, and that he needs to bathe. Bob, the canine pal of Buddy, insists on joining the family. When Doc finds out Bob's owner had been dead for a while, he gives Bob to an elderly lady whose own dog has passed away. Bert is not happy staying in the tiny room at his employer's store so tries to get Al to house him either at Al's home or in a room at the pub. Bravo to Al who tells him he has made his bed and now has to lie in it.

All in all, Morwena's mum and Dan both get new diagnoses from Doc.

Plastic Surgery Nightmares: Episode #1.3 (2020)
Season 1, Episode 3

This episode seemed more about Laura Alesia Summers.
5 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After introducing Laura, there were only three persons whose surgery/filler party/hair transplant fiascos were presented. Those segments were extremely short compared to the coverage of Laura. The rest of the hour centered around the narcissistic 30 something woman who has had more procedures than half of the UK women. Watching her overfilled lips and hearing her droning voice talk all about her was nauseating. 500,000 pounds spent on 'perfection' is criminal. Now she says she wants to be a wife and a mother. Laura as a mother is simply a horrid idea. I don't think I will watch this program again.

Penhale is an idiot
23 July 2021
I love this series for the most part as it reminds me a bit of Northern Exposure with the quirky characters. However, PC Penhale's character is getting dafter and is definitely coming across as someone who was absent with G-D was giving out intelligence. I believe in reincarnation and I just can't fathom a real person holding the job he does yet he never seems to get anything right. Except for him, I would not have any complaints about the series.

One of the best....
17 July 2021
I am a believer in the paranormal/supernatural. I love to watch programs which deal in 'is this fast or fiction'. An annoying aspect of many programs is the way the scenes are edited with anxiety-causing sounds as part of the transition. This show does not play any of those tricks with sound and/or using strobing. The best part of the show is watching them present the photo/video//sounds then they have respected specialists look at them using their tools to do their analysis. Great job! I hope this show continues to a second season.

An enjoyable watch
13 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not a fan of reality shows, but this one (as well as one other which will not be named) is brilliant. A little confusing at first as all the celebrity contestants and chef helpers are present which leads one to wonder how in the world will they be able to do the competition in an hour's time. Turns out it is a tournament format. All four of the first round celeb contestants were engaging, did well when their chef guide taught them the meal they would be making and although mistakes were made (Johnny Vegas made the same mistake he almost made when being trained-poured about 2 cups of oil into his pan instead of the stock), their finished meals were close if not quite spot on. Seeing Shirley and Johnny's reactions when the chefs doing the judging chose them was a delight. The two losing celebs have to make a dessert to see who stays and who leaves. 8 chefs have to judge the desserts in a different room so they do not know who made which. They choose the colour of the plates which contain the dessert they liked best. The celeb who stays (Naughty Boy) goes back into the 'celeb pool' for the next show.

Rehash of the same old stuff
11 July 2021
This show is difficult to focus on. The 'woosh' sound they have between photographs is annoying and seems designed to create anxiety in the watcher. This as well as the fast cuts between people interviewed, video and photos keeps one from concentrating on what could be information that is important to understand.

This ex-Navy spouse loves this movie
5 June 2021
How would the Navy of today respond to the alien attack scenario presented in this movie? With this in mind, I thought the actors did a good job maintaining Navy protocols.

The movie score can be over the top in places, but generally lets you know when the action is stepping up.

What I really love about the movie is the interaction of the younger Hopper with his subordinates. His reluctance to accept he is the officer in charge once his CO is killed and the way the enlisted people urge him into command is believable. I like the integration of his girlfriend Sam into the storyline as well as the retirees on the Missouri when they are called into the battle. The movie does a great job with suspending belief as well.

The concept and execution of the aliens themselves is some of the best special effects I have seen. Giving them a vulnerability to bright light and the helmets they wear help the sailors understand they are not superbeings. The attacks on the island's military resources as well as the infrastructures of the island yet sparing the boy on the baseball field show they are not interested at that point in killing unarmed civilians directly, though some are casualties when the highway is destroyed.

While there is confusion for a while, the cast show that it is possible to defeat the seemingly undefeatable when you work in tandem and have the same goals.

Personally, this is, for me, a fun movie to put on when I don't find anything else interesting to watch.
