What a sham. The MTV-version is much more entertaining.
21 February 2003
This cinematic version has no added value or entertainment whatsoever over the regular episodes on MTV. They had an opportunity here to make an unprecented reality-film but they kept it at a mere montage of some uninspiring and bland clips to cash in on the Jackass-concept.

Had they continued the film in the style of the first 10 minutes and added something like a plot or story, this could have been a lot more fun.

Razzle Dazzle Me!
21 February 2003
I thoroughly enjoyed this film/musical. Good directing. Good acting. Good sets and tight editing.

I am not a big musical fan, but this changed my opinion. I would have liked to see some wider shots on the dancing scenes in the end: it was very unbelievable that Renee actually danced herself.

Nonetheless: this film will razzle dazzle the Academy as well!

Lovely Swedish film!
21 February 2003
After having lived in Sweden for half a year, I truly appreciated this look into modern Swedish living. Schlager is to the Swedish what the ocean is to lemmings. They are all drawn to it instinctively.

A full-time nurse with three kids and an unemployed husband gets her lucky break and breaks through as a Swedish superstar.

A lot of laughs and frustration. Good acting, nice photography and above all a compelling story. 9/10.

The best Dutch film in years. If not ever.
21 February 2003
This film, based on a novel, made a deep and lasting impression on me. The acting, photography and editing were all top notch and it was very refreshing to see that the film was shot on location rather than in a stuffy lot in Los Angeles.

If you don't want to read the 900+ page book, watch this film!

Three hour film with 90 minute story.
21 February 2003
The film had much more potential. I was rather disappointed to see a bland film even though the cast and director are top-notch.

The editing, sets and film stock seemed awkward and inconsistent throughout the film.

It was entertaining enough though to give it a 6/10.

Go watch Beck, this movie is awful.
21 February 2003
If you take Jean-Claude van Damme and mix him with a bad adult film, you end up with "Zero Tolerance" (Noll Tolerans).

The most fundamental thing of a film is its story. This story is flawed and the acting uninspired. I suggest a Beck episode or Jägarna if you wish to see a good Swedish thriller.

Tongue-in-cheek Action!
21 February 2003
If you are looking for a tongue-in-cheek action film, this is a good choice. With nice driving scenes and a waferthin plot, this film serves its purpose: to entertain without increasing your heart rate. Nevertheless, the pace is good and the film does not portray itself as the greatest action film since Terminator.

The love story with Emma Sjöberg is actually the only part of the story which degrades this film to a near B-movie status. If they had replaced that with more serious action, it could move closer to Ronin.
