This was a very good movie. I enjoyed it a lot and I would gladly watch it again at some point. What a lovely movie!

Prometheus

The right movie but the wrong time and too much stuffing.

Prometheus is lacking. That much is obvious. This is the movie that should have been made instead of Aliens (I love Aliens but it makes little sense as a sequel to Alien) but 30 years earlier. Ridley quite obviously wanted to make an Ancient Astronauts film and he obviously had quite a few ideas better realized in the Blade Runner universe stuck in his mind when making this film. It really shows. The main crime committed in Prometheus is the lack of focus. It's packed with great ideas and concepts. Ideas and concepts that would have been much better served as their own movies.
I was quite satisfied with not knowing why the Engineers went back to kill us. What did bother me was how uninterested in getting that answer I was. The film is asking too many questions. We're asked to care about more things than the films running time has to potential to explore while also being an adventure/horror film. So the problem isn't with not getting any answers, the problem is not receiving the full questions.
Sure, Ridley, explore the mind an AI, explore ancient ruins of an alien race, explore the mysterious effects of the black goo, explore the complicated family relations of the Wayland family, explore the meaning of life and the origins of man but please don't try to do it in the same damned movie.
I want to like Prometheus and in many ways I really do. To put it simply; Prometheus is the kind of movie you enjoy thinking about a lot more than you enjoy watching. It should have been at least three separate movies with not more than one of them set in the Alien universe.
And don't get me started on how the Space Jockey from Alien is clearly way more alien than the Engineers...

I went into this movie with low expectations. They were not met. Finding the right words to describe this movie is rather difficult, since I really don't like these "worst movie ever" kind of reviews. But I don't know what else to say. This movie is horrible, quite frankly.
It tries it's best at being deep but ends up being nothing but boring and absurd. The actors do a poor job at bringing the one dimensional characters to life, in a terribly boring story.
It is obvious that the makers wanted to create an emotional ride for the viewers to enjoy. This is painfully obvious. Every piece of dialog is written with this in mind. "Tell her... That I...". We have seen and heard all this before. It has already been done. But never have it been done this badly.
I find this movie to be in extremely bad taste. It tries to combine all kind of heavy topics, war, unfaithfulness, abortion, needless deaths on the battlefield. But it's all done in such a poor way that it is almost offending.
Don't watch this movie. You will dread every minute of it and it wont pay off because the ending sucks.

I don't really know where to start... At first I didn't know what to think. There are so many nasty, nasty scenes in this film. So it took quite a while to really "digest" it. It truly is a nasty film. I didn't think it was possible to make such a film and get away with it!
But there's more to it. It's not JUST a nasty film. It's a nasty film with something to say. It's got something to say about money, about art, about family and about life in the "not-as- rich" parts of the "civilized" world. I think this movie is a part of a cleansing. A cry to the world; don't let sick stuff happen. It might just be me, but I thought I could see all that through out the film.
It is a very well made movie. The acting is solid to the end. The camera-work is just superb. Lighting, sets and costumes are just delicious! It's got texture. A look of it's own. The gore effects are also unbelievably well made. That is why this film is so hard to watch. It all seems a little too real to be entertaining. I love gore film, I do. But I prefer the campy ones with obviously fake gore. It's just too real to be comfortable.
So I'll give this movie a solid 7 out of 10.

This is the only movie I've ever come across that actually do not deserve more than one star, out of ten. But don't let that fool you, it's the worst star ever. it's completely unmotivated to speak for the quality of the film.
I have now viewed this film on several occasions, hoping to make some sense out of it. But no, I still do not know what my eyes has just seen.
It baffles me.
This movie is the film adaptation of the question mark. Upon viewing this, you will find yourself wondering; "Who would say that?!", "Why did you do that?!", "What did that have to do with anything?!", "Where are you?!", "How big is this house?!", "Where did that zombie come from?!", "Why did he just catch fire?!", "Why is it brighter than the sun if it's in the middle of the night?!", "where are all the birds?!".
Almost every scene and every piece of dialogue gives birth to a set of questions that will forever be without answers. No actions taken by the characters makes any kind of sense. No words spoken makes any kind of sense. I'm still not sure about the plot! What the hell is this movie about, why are they so dumb and why would they do the things they do? And where are all the murdering birds?!
I want to understand this movie, I really do. I've got so many questions! Where did the zombie/zombies (still not sure if there's actually more than one) come from? What did the intro "flashback" got to do with the rest of the film? Why are they just aimlessly running around in this house, committing random acts of stupidity? Where does all the smoke come from? And the lights?! The lights?! Oh God!
Who green lighted this?! Somebody along the production line must have noticed how bad it was?
Take this as a warning. I do not enjoy to bitch about movies, I am a huge fan of B-movies and euro trash and there's always SOMETHING good about a film. But I can't find anything that works here. The camera works, the audio, the plot, the acting, the effects... It's just not good. There is nothing good about it. I do not lie.
This film has a negative entertainment value. You loose previous fun you've had when you watch this. It leaves you with an empty feeling inside and enough questions to last you a life time.

In all honesty, this is the most exciting zombiefilm I have ever seen. It's not the best zombiefilm but it's the best action-zombiefilm.
They did not spend too much time on the things that you don't really want to see in a zombiefilm, like partying teens and such. They introduced the threat, the characters and then went straight to the action.
The location is perfect. There's really nothing there but snow, which puts the focus on the important things; blood, guts and nazi zombies. The only thing I wasn't pleased with was the music. It seems out of place in some scenes and its really quite obvious that it was pre-made and not written for the scene, but the volume is low so it can easily be overlooked.
I still give this movie a 10. It's one of the best zombiefilms ever made.
If you loved Shaun of the Dead, put it in the attic and forget about it. This will be your new favorite, I promise.
Also consider that I'm Swedish, it pains me to give a norwegian film a good review, but this... This was awesome.
