MaveriX (2022)
Great for family.
Watched this with my 9 year old. Forced her to watch the first episode to try something new (break from Disney kids shows) and she loved it.
This is family friendly, interesting and fresh. Great for boys, girls and this dad. Music is pretty decent as well.
Acting is good, straight forward plot but engaging. All the actors have some depth to their characters and have growth . Liked that it's teens playing teens and is believable. (Not 20 somethings playing roles)
Really surprised that this is a 6 on the ratings, because all the episodes get an 8 or higher. I'd give this an 8-9 because it's what I need - something I can enjoy with my daughter.
Hope for second season.
Scaredy Cats (2021)
Perfect for my 6 year old
My 6-7 daughter loved it. Perfect amount of scares, humour and magic.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Absolutely great! Glad I ignored the bad reviews
I grew up on the original and had all the toys and grayskull castle.
This watches like the first movie in a trilogy. Meaning it sets up a story arc.
I was okay with Teela being the lead as there is a reason for this in the story telling. Each character was given depth.
Really not sure why the hate. I almost did not watch because of the reviews - that would have been my loss. Binged it this weekend and looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
The pacing was great, while there was more talking (akaplot development) than fighting, there was no lack of action.
Having a young daughter, I may rewatch with her, so we both can enjoy heroes we can identify with.
The Princess Switch (2018)
Simple, safe and perfect!
Wanted a family movie to watch with a Christmas theme with my wife and 6year old daughter after decorating the Christmas tree.
This was perfect! Was it predictable, perhaps. Was it family friendly with no-unwanted surprises, yup. Cute story, yup. Decent acting, yup. Just what I needed. Looking forward to the sequel.
Sometimes you just want a film that ticks all these boxes.
Endlings (2020)
Great first episode! Looking forward to the next!
Great cast and story set up. I'm hooked.
CGI is well done, but you can clearly tell what is CGI. That may be a good thing with younger viewers - think dinosaur animation in Dino Dan. I can overlook CGI, if the scripts stay solid. Looks promising.
Nice find, looking to share this with my younger daughter.

Joker (2019)
Awesome movie! The most disturbing thing was....
The story was great, acting was suburb! Great depth to the character and arc to becoming the iconic joker!
The most disturbing thing was the mother who brought there 7yr old. This is not a kids movie. Disturbing content, that made me (42yr old) winch - even more with knowing a child was there.
Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures (2018)
Great family viewing
As a father of a 4 year old girl I really appreciate this version of Barbie. They focus on family and the episodes center around an adventure as the name suggests. The interactions between Barbie and her sisters, parents and friends are always positive and if they argue it's because that's a plot point. I can sit through episodes with my daughter and actually enjoy it, with no concern about the content. It doesn't focus on materialistic aspects that Barbie is known for. I was actually happy to see the second season added to Netflix, because we had watched every episode of season 1 multiple times (yes, it's that re-watchable). When you compare this Barbie "Dreamhouse adventures", it far more positive content for younger viewers than the other Barbie "life in the dreamhouse" version (it's funny in its own way, but focuses on the materialistic side of Barbie. That show also does not reflect positive/Healthy conversations between friends or include any parent interactions - kids model what they see!!)
Travelers (2016)
Awesome series!
Originally I didn't watch the full first episode when this aired on TV. My mistake! Rematches in Netflix and Loved every episode, from the first to the final.
You have to watch the first first episodes to the end then 'what???!! You've got my attention " I was hooked. Great cast, with interesting storylines for each character that move quickly as does the main story. Without spoiling anything the 3 seasons stand complete, now that the series is cancelled. Very disappointed that there will not be a 4th, but worth watching the 3 that exist.
Ponysitters Club (2017)
Safe for younger kids
My 4 year old loves it. The plot lines are simple, interactions between kids and adults are respectful. It's safe for her to watch, which is hard to find these days. I like that I don't have to worry about the content and it holds her attention.
