A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
Not so bad...until the end
I was OK with the movie right up until the end.
I don't know what the writers were thinking! He straight up MURDERED someone. He threw an unarmed man off a building. Is this a sign of our times that if someone feels threatened by a criminal, once he is unarmed you're allowed to MURDER them?
This one action was TOTALLY out of character for the John McClain character. He was a Good Guy, but this one action may have tainted the entire series.
I'm not a hippy-liberal, I shoot guns and hunt and fish, and actually am a State Officer. You don't kill unarmed criminals, that is NOT for YOU to decide, and you ESPECIALLY do NOT put it on film as a good thing to do because then the hot-heads in your department will take that as a sign that it's open season on every 16 year who speeds or runs a red light.
The writers violated the John McClain Character and in one scene threw into question the entire movie.
The Last Stand (2013)
Sadly, Utter Garbage
I watched this movie out of respect for the two main actors, but even they could not carry the writing of this utterly bland overly-long car commercial.
This is the type of movie made for ignorant cube-workers who have nothing better to do with a Sunday afternoon. There was nothing new or original about this movie. At least with the Fast & Furious series you see ridiculous antics, comedy, and get to learn about new parts of the world.
The story line is so ludicrous it is like a made-for-TV movie. A few police officer out-gunning military trained ex-mercenaries? A rookie cop out-sniping a trained tactical sniper? A drug lord with only ONE option for getting out of the country? The AIRFIELDS are closed?! Any pilot will tell you planes can take-off and land in fields, highways, lakes, and even rivers.
The two main actors were decent, but other than that what was good about this movie? The war on drugs has been lost for the last 20 years and only Hollywood and the government don't seem to know it.
Zombieland (2009)
Remember the Rules!
To really enjoy the movie, you have to put yourself in his shoes. First off, if the girl next-door who you've been secretly in-love with for over 3 years turns into a Zombie. Could you put her down? I don't know if I could do it. Restrain her, tie her up, break her arms and legs maybe, but put her down like he does? I'm just not sure I could do it.
So right off the bat the movie exposes (and here's a key to the people who don't enjoy the movie) a thinking person, yes I said it exposes a 'thinking person' to a nightmare scenario.
What instead of that girl you like it was your child? What if your 5 year old had suddenly become a tiny zombie who wanted nothing more than to eat your flesh? You can try to restrain him, but one bite and you'll end up a zombie and then the rest of your family will have to face the same choice you have and that's the big danger of the Z scenario.
There are a lot of people who hate on this movie, but the negativity should stop because what should be taken away from this are the 10 or more rules, such as Double-Tap, Exercise Running, and the rest.
When World War Z occurs, the people who hated on this movie will be happy they watched it.
Still, with the shambling zombies, I don't believe world-war Z could occur. With the fast-moving human-eaters in those Return of the Night of the Living dead movies...we'd all be screwed with or without the rules...
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Christian, Muslim, or Pagan this movie will touch you...
Whether you're a Christian, a Muslim, or a Pagan this movie will touch you.
Even if you don't know the story, the intensity of the scenes will grip you so strongly that you will forget.
I would not recommend this movie to someone with a heart condition as you may go from seeing Jesus on the big screen to seeing Him in the afterlife.
For History buffs, I would recommend this movie because of the painstaking detail to accurately portray what happened in the Roman Empire.
But note, it is not for the faint or heart. Even if you hate God this movie will leave you short of breathe.
The A-Team (2010)
Favorite Quote "There seems to be an error on this Report. It says they were flying a tank...?"
I grew up watching the A Team, have seen every episode, and am extremely picky when it comes to movies, TV, clothes, etc.
A Team hit ALL the marks. From the first scene to the last the A Team keeps you guessing and through scene mis-direction the Directors and Writers draw your attention Away from what they are going to do next.
Usually Writers and Directors attempt to push your attention along with the story, but in this movie they would focus your attention soley on the actors and the scene that is taking place before you until BLAM, they wreck the scene and it's on to the next.
The A Team is like a Michael Bay movie, but with an actual story-line, that Michael Bay then blows up. HA!
Falang: Behind Bangkok's Smile (2005)
International Deception
It's always interesting to meet people just passing through Thailand doing a documentary. Their conclusions are almost always wrong and their evidence is almost always suspect at best.
As one who has lived and worked in Thailand I can tell you that any documentary that does not include a LONG HARDlook at the role of the Police, the Politicians, and the King is leaving out the primary motivation for Thai prostitution in the first place.
Without the Top-Down Hierarchy in Thailand essentially Stealing the money via the Banking systems (the same way it is now being done in the US)Thai people would be some of the richest in the world.
So any slice of life documentary like this one, fails completely because Thailand is like an onion (or an Ogre), it has many layers, and some of those layers can't be exposed without brining tears to your eyes...
