Bones and All (2022)
Very well done
I think the movie was great in Cinematography and Editing. Although I am a big fan of Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross I think there was too much music in the film. Some scenes could have been simply quiet like the talking between Maren and Sully after the eating. It is weird that the filmmaker thought dreamy music all over the place could do any good.
Otherwise at other scenes the music was quiet wonderful.
In some parts the movie was intense, for instance the scene witch Chloe Sevigny, in other parts it was a rather quite Road Movie.
There was a lot cult-movie-material all around but somehow it only turned out to be okay, probably because the story itself is pretty thin.
Halloween Ends (2022)
More about Haddonfield than about Michael Myers
This one was more about Haddonfield than about Michael Myers. And I actually liked it in some way, I enjoyed the ride with its pretty good cinematography.
Some might say the ending wasnt spectacular enough, I think it was because Michael Myers is an old man by now, this has to be his last appearance. I am not fond of any further sequels.
Since I wasn't left in awe with the other David Gordon Green-Films neither I think this isn't much worse than the others. "Halloween kills" was a bit more Gore though. Rob Zombie's approach was a bit more radical than this.
I think Michael Myers should go to rest now because there isn't really much left to say.
Devs (2020)
It goes nowhere
Sadly "Devs" feels like a waste of time. The story never goes anywhere interesting, the plot remains to be lofty nonsense, the characters are soon to be forgotten. Good work by the actors though.
The Lodge (2019)
Blew me away
A very intense cinematic experience. Other reviewers said there was not enough depth to it and I agree there could have been 10 minutes with more insight into the cult Grace had been into or a little more screentime of the father who really seemed nothing but absent and ignorant. Maybe it would have been possible to make the twist a little bit more believable. But all in all it has been the best horror-movie I've seen in quite a while. And I mean horror not in terms of genre-routine. The less you know about the movie the harder it hits you. Don't read any further, just watch it, with lights out, quiet at your couch or in your bed.
The Recruit (2003)
cia ole´!
saw that film yesterday in a sneak preview and it became a boring evening. the movie tells me that the cia is a honourable society and that you have to be very smart to work with the elite. the rest is very predictible and boring as a tv-"movie of the week".
The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Kawoom!
Everything what "Reloaded" has been is getting increased to its ultimate climax. After Revolutions something ended. I don´t think Spiderman or X-Men can touch it with their next sequels. It is a blast with some self-irony.
