Paul Chowdhry: Live Innit (2019)
Funny as hell
Me and my mrs laughed from start to finish. Some bits were edgy but showed nothing was taboo to him and that's what you want in a comedian.
Los ojos de Julia (2010)
nice one
The leading lady Belen Rueda is gorgeous....this is what captured my attention to begin with. She is a pretty good actress, very expressive and convincing and the supporting cast is very good too. The movie is set in a small village in Spain and the visuals are very believable and the lighting decor etc is natural and free of gaudy colours as usually seeing in Hollywood flicks. The first half of the movie has palpable tension, there are many scary moments in the movie. Alas the last 20 minutes were not up to the mark...it was as if the rest was so majestic that there was no good way to end it all. In short a Spanish original film(subtitled),not the typical puerile slasher type Hollywood teen nonsense. Either watch and enjoy the original or wait for Hollywood to bring out a dumbed out version in a year.
Blitz (2011)
guy flick
Jason statham as a gritty grumpy bad ass cop who bends the rules to serve justice.Does this sound good to you? well it did to me so I pitched up for the movie. Statham does a very convincing job as the police officer,he carries on in serious earnest throughout and there are many laugh out loud moments in the movie. The supporting cast is also good, there are a few typical queer British characters thrown in which enhance the believability of the story. There aren't hard gritty action scnenes, special effects are minimal/none. But the macho factor and testosterone factor are high. And one last thing Zawe Ashton is smoking hot, phew!
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
The best outing
I watched the movie today in 3D. There are moments of magic in the movie that simply take your breath away. Was the 3d worth it and good- answer is yes...there are many scenes in which the effects are enhanced by use of 3D technology.
Geoffrey rush(barbosa) is superb as usual. Johnny Depp is his usual quirky self and Jack sparrow rocks. Penelope adds some freshness and feminity to the franchise(though I hear that she was pregnant while the movie was being filmed). There are many sub plots and little love stories within the main storyline which keep us interested.
I cannot understand why the critics and other pedestrian review sites(RT) are giving the movie a mauling and ? were they paid or were they in love with skinny lizzy or orlando blooper
Enthiran (2010)
The soul of India and the body of Hollywood
I had to make a journey three times to the cinema hall as on two occasions I reached there only to see the 'sold out' message on the LCD screen, and this was in the UK mind you. The movie is subtitled in English and my better half who doesn't understand Tamil was able to enjoy it too. The first half was full of character development, this was done in a light hearted manner and there are many laugh out loud moments The second half has more action scenes and CGI stunts than you can count on your fingers and toes. On the whole Rajini carried off the movie in impeccable style and you are left gasping for breath as you witness one death defying stunt after another. There is a lot of ingenuity in the action sequences, many are unlike any I have seen in Hollywood movies. On the hole I would say that regardless of whether you are a south Indian or north Indian or not an Indian go and watch the movie ...it wont disappoint.Even an hour of the movie is worth the admission price
Robin Hood (2010)
a great entertainer
I went to the cinema hoping to see the 'Robin Hood' that we all know about who takes from the rich and gives to the poor. Instead I saw a cinematic experience and a storyline that I have not seen recently.Ridley Scott is a master film maker and this film was pure class. I am usually a fan of Russell Crowe but was surprised to see him sleepwalking his role.Inspite of this the movie works beautifully.this says volumes about the strength of character development and depth of story as Scott pulls off another good movie. My girlfriend who usually does not like such movies thoroughly enjoyed it too.It is a 140minute movie and I was worried it may be too long, but I was so entertained that it felt more like 90 minutes.
Kick-Ass (2010)
how could they?
This was easily the worst movie of 2010.What made me very annoyed was the sight of Child actors some of whom could be as young as 7yrs spewing obscenities. There were so many Garish costumes and over the top scenes signified a lack of thought and a complete inability to direct a movie on the director's part. with such an amount of Strange storyline and Poor direction and Hideous acting I could not for the life of me understand
understand how someone could find this entertaining I also cant understand how review sites have given this drivel a good rating. I went to watch the movie in spite of my gut instinct telling me to avoid it,I did this because of the ratings on rottentomatoes,I wont make this mistake again.
