Joker (I) (2019)

SOLID! But don't believe the hype...
14 October 2019
Joaquin Phoenix's performance is excellent, but the film is flawed, the main offenders being a second act twist that's visible a mile away and a small scene during the ending that feels tacked on.

However, you should see this film at least once.

Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
Season 8, Episode 4

Currently at 6.9. Why? It's not even a bad episode!

It seems a GoT episode is either 1 star or 10 stars. This is a solid 80 mins worth a solid 8 stars. I actually prefer it to Episode 03 of Season 8. There are scenes of scheming, plotting and some great tension in the last 10 mins, like the early seasons of GoT.

Upgrade (2018)
10/10
SAW meets Black Mirror

Does what it says on the tin. There was a bit more of a plot than I expected which was great, but what I'll remember most about Upgrade is the awesome fight scenes. I highly recommend this movie!

Best I've Seen in a Long Time
5 May 2011
I haven't seen the original Troma film of which this is based, but I've been looking forward to this one and it was worth the wait! The movie is very well paced, were thrown straight into the horror in the first 10 Min's (and this being a film by Darren Lynn Bousman (saw 2,3,4), there is plenty of horror on show)! Were barely introduced to the characters when the blood starts pouring, but i still found myself caring for each of them! With no sense of what was going to happen next or who was going to die, i was permanently on the edge of my seat! The show belongs to De Mornay, her performance as Mother is as chilling as Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, cool and calm on second but deadly the next. With some memorable deaths, each totally unexpected, and a few twists along the way, i found this film a real surprise and one every horror fan especially should check out!

Alien 3 (1992)

Not that bad, Not that good...
2 January 2011
The first time i saw Alien 3 I was more than a little disappointed, but a few years have passed and having watched it again (and the 'Assembly Cut' from the Box Set) it has actually grown on me! Its dark, bleak, depressing stuff. Looking more like a proper sequel to Alien than Aliens! The film has flaws all over, but it also has its moments, not to mention the best tag-line for an Alien film, 'THE BITCH IS BACK'! For me the series went downhill from Alien: Resurrection, with Alien 3 holding its own up against two classic films. Its not my favourite, but after Cameron's sequel, I think Alien 3 is up there with the original. Dismiss it, but don't miss it!
