God Forbid (2022)
Badly edited and executed
The editing, sound mix and general pacing of this documentary makes it an absolute ordeal to watch. The pacing of the cutting, the selection of shots and relentless crappy music make it feel like they just cut a 90 min sync cut and just wallpapered shots and music over it and said "that'll do". The visuals are really lazy and horribly filmed, I don't know if a lot of the footage was generic stock footage, but it certainly looks that way. I imagine this had a big budget, but because of the way it's been quite amateurishly executed it ends up looking pretty cheap and low-end. I'm a massive fan of Adam McKay and I was drawn to this film because he was an exec producer and I'd love to know how much input he had in this because there's no resemblance to anything he's done before. Absolutely awful, sorry.
Sex/Life (2021)
Woefully bad. Appalling writing and directing!
I assume this show is written for women, but as a man I found this actually embarrassingly bad. The writing is cringeworthy, the sex is so laughably un-sexy. The male dialogue is so unrealistic it actually annoyed me. A lot of people on here have thrown the show a bone by saying the acting is good. It's not, the Aussie guy is more wooden than Pinocchio, the rest of the cast are the sort that are better suited to soaps, I didn't believe any of the performances. The Netflix execs that commissioned this must realise how badly they have messed up.
When Calls the Heart (2014)
Atrocious
I had the misfortune of being in the same room as my wife when she was watching this guff. I'm genuinely embarrassed that she watches it.
The acting is bloody terrible, the direction, editing and music are boring as hell. However the most atrocious element is the costume and hair design - laughable and so incorrect for a period piece. Christ this is an awful show
