Fright Night (2011)
GARBAGE
This movie is another lousy "remake" that Hollywood is known for now. They can't make decent movies anymore so they revert to making lousy remakes. I did not like anything about this. I don't understand how this gets the rating it does on here, you people must really love movies to like this. The original was a classic. This was just another cheap attempt to make money off a classic from the past. It had none of the memorable characters the original did . Please do yourself a favor and get the original from 1985 and don't waste your time with this piece of junk. I wish movie makers would stop using formulas, stop with the CGI crap, and get back to making decent pictures.
The Kids Are All Right (2010)
Hollywood trash
Another one of those Hollywood trash movies that tries to masquerade itself as high art. It has all the usual things you would expect from tinsletown. Hollywood can't make movies anymore. Everything has to be disturbing subject matter. Everything has to be shocking and unconventional. They have to load everything up with dysfunctional relationships, CGI, or overacted, over-the-top ridiculous nonsense. Today's movie makers should go into the past and study what made the older movies great. Loading a movie up with bizarre sex/relationship drama crap doesn't do it. Neither does CGI. It goes to prove when it comes to money actors will do anything. No wonder this world is screwed up.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Two hours of my life I can't get back...
So, finally, after 30 years, I finally got around to watching this movie. No, this movie did not live up to the hype for me. I enjoy movies in this vein, but did not care for this. I think Anthony Hopkins did a good job on his character, that's the only credit I can give it. Jodie Foster's fake southern accent, (which seemed to come and go at times), was just plain annoying. Sometimes I found the movie difficult to follow. How the hell did Lector steal the pen? I get that no movie is ever really perfect and you have to suspend your disbelief, but too much ridiculous things happening in this. Then he escapes a place crawling with police, cuts off a policeman's face to disguise himself and escapes... a little too much for me... I don't get how this is revered as such a classic.... Maybe it was shocking at the time it came out and that's why it had such an impact on people... Not for me, no thanks.
Bordello of Blood (1996)
A Fun Horror/Comedy Flick!
I don't understand the low rating for this movie! I loved it the first time I saw it when I rented it on VHS. Now I own the dvd. It's a fun, cozy little horror/comedy romp if you are into vampires. Yes it's campy and over-the-top, but that was what the "Tales From The Crypt" show was known for. Instead of the usual half hour episode, this is a full length movie. It does have that 90's camp charm, but that's what I love about it.
I've read where some of the actors were not happy doing this movie, I don't get it...
I would definitely give this movie a shot. It's not supposed to be "Citizen Kane", or "Casablanca", but I was not expecting it to be. If you want a fun horror/comedy flick, this is it! Break out the popcorn and enjoy!
Clash of the Titans (1981)
Classic movie!!!
Fantasy is not normally my thing, but this is one of my all time favorite movies! I remember watching this as a kid whenever it was on HBO in the early 80's. Ray Harryhausen's creations were terrific and I will take his stop-motion animation any day over CGI effects. The characters are all very memorable, as are the creatures. There is a beauty in simplicity, and that's what I enjoy about the older movies so much. Seems there were better craftsman years ago that actually knew how to make movies which didn't have to rely on profanity, cliché dialog, and computerized special effects for 90 minutes. This movie is pure joy to watch and features a lineup of all-time great actors who knew how to act.
Don't waste your time with the remake, go check out the original which I'm sure you will want to add to your movie collection!
Seinfeld (1989)
NOT funny at all....
Never understood the appeal of this show AT ALL. Shows like this prove once again just how dysfunctional society has become. None of the characters on this show were funny. This has to be the most overrated show of all-time. I remember watching an episode at a friend's house, and this show was annoying as hell. I guess it becomes the "in" thing to say you're a fan. People will watch and enjoy whatever the network decides to put on. Only reason junk like this becomes a hit is because some rich business people with a lot of money see to it that this crap gets heavily hyped. People mindlessly follow whatever the trend is and will but whatever is out there. Not funny, not even a chuckle.
Married with Children (1987)
Trash television makes me sick....
When this show came out, the times sure were a changin'! Shows like "Married With Children" and "Roseanne" were a far cry from "Andy Griffith" and "The Brady Bunch". How times change for the worse! Basically the format changed sometime in the late 80's to where it was decided that low class, insulting, embarrassing garbage would be the type of TV shows created and aired, and apparently there was an audience for it. Make it and they will come. Tells you a lot about society, doesn't it? Repetitive, low class garbage gets old VERY fast, as does this show. It was junk shows like this which set the stage for the trash that's on TV today. No wonder people have no respect for themselves or others.
Freeway (1996)
I'd give it a minus 10 if I could...
This was an awful, horrible, stinker of a movie. Bad acting on the part of all involved. Completely RIDICULOUS characters and situations. I felt insulted watching this. When I first turned it on, I thought it might be a spooky stalker style movie, then it just got worse and worse. I thought I was watching a movie written by a bunch of high school people. One thing I can't stand are totally ridiculous scenes that would never come close to happening in real life. I also can't stand clichéd moments and fake acting. I thought Reese Witherspoon's character was laughable as were the rest. Do yourself a favor and avoid this piece of junk.
Encounter with the Unknown (1972)
Terrific 70's style spook-fest!!
I love these old gems from the past! No computer special effects or anything fancy, just simple, creepy tales done in sort of a 70's documentary style. This fits in with other classics like "Legend Of Bogey Creek". The great Rod Serling narrates three weird tales of the supernatural. Making it even spookier is that the stories told are supposedly based on real life accounts. Fact or not, I'm into this sort of thing so this was right up my alley! TV can't make creepy shows like this anymore. The old style grainy picture creates a real mood with these old shows, something that isn't captured with the new digital. This is the type of show the would air late at night that would scare the life out of me growing up! If you're nostalgic, and enjoy classic horror from the past, I definitely recommend trying to find this on VHS, you will enjoy it!
