Not a masterpiece
21 February 2015
This will be a short review because, after all, I have not a lot of things to say about this movie. N°1 movie on IMDb, Amercian Film Institute 72nd best film of all time, 91% on rottentomatoes, I had to see this "masterpiece". Well, this is in no case worthy of the name, it's an excellent movie, but not to the point of deserving such a worship. The story is very beautiful and the characters are very touching but, from a purely cinematographic point of view, there's nothing amazing about it. Any movie from Kubrick, for instance, deserve way more the first place on IMDb than The Shawshank Redemption because it really marked film history (I'm talking about Kubrick because it's the first name that popped into my head, but it's not the only one obviously). I still recommend this very beautiful movie, of course, but if I had to do a list of the best films of all time according to me, it would never be in it.
