Hall Pass (2011)

weekend pass would be enough
9 July 2011
Bobby and Peter Farrelly came up big with hit-comedy There's Something About Mary back in the 90's. Although they have kept hold of their niche, they have gone backwards after that. I mean, Hall Pass was a funny movie. I laughed several times. Especially when there was girl who took a sneeze and a fart at a same time. But still, there was something missing. At that something is crucial for those kind of movies. I think it achieved its point because I was watching it together with ten friends. I think seeing it lonely or with girlfriend couldn't be that enjoyable. But that's my opinion.

Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are themselves, which means a friendly guys with positive attitudes and sense of humour. They have some interesting side-characters, most notably Nicky Whelan who is pretty darn sexy.

The last part of the movie was quite stupid, but I liked the film had a point. One week for these kind of guys is too much, but it certainly isn't for me. At the moment.

Sanctum (2011)

enjoy nature
9 July 2011
Hey, you're not the only one who saw the movie and later was confused why this picture is marketed with the name of James Cameron. Cause it's how I see things. James Cameron has worldwide name which has a great reputation of developing an extraordinary big projects. Sanctum is definitely not one of them. It seemed like it was done quickly, the script was not original and you knew what was going to happen. I thought that they had just installed James Cameron's name on the poster so it sells better and James himself had nothing to do with the film. But I don't want to sound that bloody negative. The movie was still fun sometimes. Quite some intense scenes, but I didn't find them catchy enough. I liked the chick who played Victoria though.

Most of all, what I enjoyed the most was nature. In the beginning there are few incredible overview scenes of the worlds biggest cave. Unfortunately, that's probably the only reason I suggest you to see this movie.

In America (2002)

no stars but lots of stardom
23 June 2011
First of all, I'd like to say that I was hugely impressed. Mostly because of the work Jim Sheridan has done here. An excellent Irish director who has his own unique way to create very good movies. As I understand this movie is quite personal to him and dedicated to his family. It's easy to see why. The movie is all about family. It shows what a great influence a family has for its members. What it means to stick together and to climb over all the obstacles life throws on the road. But the most important note the movie points is the power of overcoming a loss of a family member. Very lovely and inspirational movie. It has its tragic and heartfelt scenes which make In America a wonderful movie. Recommended for all the families.

Great job by Jim Sheridan because of creating an atmosphere where there is no first-class movie stars, but still cast is one the strongest part of the movie. It shows you the worth of this movie.

Buried (2010)

oh my god
18 June 2011
Got to tell you, this is one the best one man shows I have ever seen. The fact that we only see Ryan Reynolds on the screen mixed with a fact that the movie is extremely intense, makes it pretty inviting, don't you think? I think you do, and you have right. Buried is just so thrilling. I haven't seen such a good thriller for some time. I loved it, because it gave you several clues and directions where to head to, but in the end it really surprises you. It's very original movie. I highly recommend it for everyone who'd like to have something tasty for midnight movie. Oh, you get the feeling and you probably gonna like it too.

Ryan Reynold's greatest performance by a clear mile. He shows something different and I think he has brought home an appreciation for that. In overall, I'd just like to add that go see the movie. You might use the phrase from my title.

Kelso won the heart of my golden girl
18 June 2011
First of all, I have to say that this movie is sexy and funny. But these are not the main reasons why you should see this. Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman are the reason. Especially the latter. For me, Natalie Portman is the best actress around. I absolutely love her. Ashton Kutcher is one the best comedian and charismatic actors around. He is confident, good-looking and -talking, so it's a near perfect match. Although the subject in the movie is very much about sex, we actually see few scenes of actual sex on screen. But it doesn't decrease the value of the movie. What can I say is that, if there would be any other two stars on the screen, the movie would get a lower rating from me, but as I said, they have picked the best bits.

Ashton Kutcher will almost certainly be remembered as Michael Kelso from the famous TV-series. A great character. And it's nice to see that he has an excellent taste for women.

Stop-Loss (2008)

i see talent
5 June 2011
Stop-Loss is quite a controversial movie. It's not your regular war movie. It has few scenes which the story happens in Iraq, but mainly it goes in US where the soldiers have returned from the mission. They are trying to conflate back to civilian life which actually seems harder than going through battles back in the far east. It's intriguing because the movie has a point against the government system which has a fail spot. But for me, what I really enjoyed, was the story more important than the vital factor for which the movie wanted to point the finger to.

I liked the cast. Young and talented actors such as Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt give all good performances. And also we got good-looking Abbie Cornish. Stand-out performance - Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I suggest to see the movie because of its talent. You see the future and probably you like it.

The Bank Job (2008)

following Guy's path
30 May 2011
I can honestly say, this movie is worth seeing. I like British stuff, especially if its good British stuff. The Bank Job that is. I must admit, I didn't love it as much as Guy Ritchie's two famous cult movies, but I really liked it still though. There are some truly intense scenes mixed with a brilliant British slang. I think the screenplay was very original and well written. There were many open ropes and that is the basic of an interesting movie. So it's my recommendation.

We all know Jason Statham and what he is capable of. He doesn't disappoint here as well. Perfect for the role and he has some fantastic supporting actresses too.

I haven't seen such a story told before in a movie. Maybe only read in Mickey Mouse comics book where The Beagle Boys were thinking about pulling off such an idea.

the royal voice that shakes
18 May 2011
Tom Hooper has delivered a masterful display here. There's no questions that this piece of art is worth for all these Oscars and other accommodations that it has won. Made just for under 20 million, it became a worldwide hit. And that's a big achievement for purely British movie. I have to admit, my expectations were sky-high and it didn't live up to that hype, but I still enjoyed it though. I wasn't aware of King George VI's life that he was a stammer which gave the basic to that a good inspiring story. Now I know that and I suggest others to be known about that too.

Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are the best part of the movie. Perfect for the roles and they are worth their nominations. It's hard to realize that Firth is not actually a stammerer. An Oscar for that is what I call job well done.

I think almost everyone has had a moment when they are to speak in front of some size of audience and then they just can't say the words. That's called out of words. Welcome to King George VI's world.

Lord of War (2005)

the businessman
16 May 2011
A really intense and exciting movie. I was thoroughly caught in the moment. Once I pushed the play button, I wanted it to play till the end. I think it's going to be almost with everyone. Because this one here is totally something different. Director Andrew Niccol is a newcomer and he has come with a bang. Terrific script and unique story. I mean, this is quality stuff. Highly recommended. Guys find it more interesting though. I can even say that you are not a guy if this one leaves you with nothing.

A great cast is another big plus of LOW. Nicolas Cage has done many stupid films, but in this, he really is who we are used to see on the screen. A good-talking, confident and skillful guy. Very good supporting roles from the great Jared Leto and Ethan Hawke. Bridget Moynahan as Ava Fontaine gives us something extremely beautiful to see. So it's not only guns and bullets, there's a very good-looking woman too on the screen.

Although it is not a true story, there is material in which this picture has got some key points. Leaving everything on one side, you get actually a great story how one simple guy became an extraordinary businessman. That's combination of confidence and intelligence. And it's awesome to see.

bale got rescued
16 May 2011
War movies are one of my favorites. This one here is not an average war movie. It's more like an inspiring story which happened during the Vietnam War. But it's still very catchy and gives you that grippy feeling that you are in the battle. Men would be the audience for the movie, but I suggest it to women who want to get a motivational boost as well.

Christian Bale gives a really good appearance. It seems to me the more movies I see from the guy, the more I like him. Very versatile and boy, he can survive. Some nice guest appearances too.

Although it is pretty clear what is the outcome of this movie, but I can assure, the road is trippy and exciting. Title says what happens, but still take a look. It's probably worth it.

makes you horny
11 May 2011
Incredible stuff. I didn't think laugh and sex can work together so well in the same movie. This film proves the other way. There was so much fun. I almost laughed my head off on some scenes. Very intimate movie, but extremely enjoyable. The way movie follows 5 couples who try to have a casual sex or on the other hand try to do something totally kinky is very catchy. Once you have started to see the movie, you know you have to see it till the end. Otherwise it's like having sex without an orgasm - you were having it, but it wasn't that. I'm sure you get the point. In addition, I have to mention there are some gorgeous women too.

I suggest this movie for couples or people who want to get laid, but aren't conclusive enough. Terrific choice for the movie night. Its humorous situations and funny dialogs relax and make you smile. The more towards the end, the more horny it makes you. So there's a good shout to score.

one of the real gems
2 May 2011
Ohh, this one here really amazes you. Of course if you have passion for great dramas which have a thrilling edge. What I mean is that you gotta have a taste. This movie is a real peach I tell you. I didn't know what to expect. But what I got, was so creepy and intense. I got into it quickly and the more on, the more harder was to take my eyes off the screen. I haven't seen such a good suspenseful drama for a while.

Jennifer Lawrence is a pearl here. I don't know why I haven't heard of her before, but now I honestly gotta see when she comes up again. She's very talented and very pretty.

I don't have a clue how I missed it from the Oscar nominations. It's a shame it took me several months before I saw it. It is totally worth it to invest your time now. Don't miss this tasty movie.

a stands for amazing
27 April 2011
It is a really nice movie for young people. It has many compulsory- elements which should be in this kind of movie. For example an huge high school party at some geek's home with colorful drinking cups, an entertainment show in the gym with school mascots, a scene in the headmaster's office, one really cool teacher etc. What I mean is that, you kinda know what you get, but it's awesome. I thought the humour wasn't lame. It was truly funny. I enjoyed the movie pretty much. Can't see any reason why you can't do the same.

I gotta tell you, I love Emma Stone. I liked her personality and her sense of humour. It seemed like she didn't act. Like she is exactly like Olive in real life too. Easily amazing performance.

green screen wannabe heroes
26 April 2011
It's hard to say anything good about this movie. One thing I find awesome is a nice car our self-claimed superheroes Hornet and Kato drive. Actually, I have to admit, some cool lines brought a nice grin on my face. Couple of times I laughed too. The beginning was auspicious, but the more onward, I found it silly and didn't enjoy it as I would've hoped. Seth Rogen may be a funny guy, but he surely isn't fascinating here. And I don't have no idea what was Cameron Diaz doing here.

The Green Hornet might have been a good comics. I haven't read it. All I saw on the screen was some average guys who turned to be some sort of heroes in society which just didn't work. Maybe it's me who doesn't fancy this kind of stuff.

in the world of business
20 April 2011
First of all, this is an extremely underrated movie. C'mon, so few votes. I love dramas, especially very realistic ones. This movie here represents that. The worldwide recession had a depressing affect for almost everyone. The story here centers around a group of three executives who have used to earn lots of money working for a big company. After they got fired, they face a situation they haven't been in before - unemployment. The film has a point.

If the story is accommodate you, I still think you should see this one for the actors. Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, Rosemarie DeWitt - one word - awesome.

When the movie makes you think about the theme, then it has achieved its goal. In that world, everything can change any second. See it yourself.

Tarantino's point of view
20 April 2011
Quentin Tarantino is truly one of a kind. His well-known earmarks are always fun to watch. I think it's phenomenal how he can make films which are so full of personality and quality - brilliant performances, epic quotes, satisfaction. Inglorious Basterds had been waited for some time and I gotta tell you, it absolutely delivered. I thought it might be good, a real shooter. What I didn't think was that it would make a list to my elite films. It was a surprise at times, but when I think now, it isn't. Why? Because it's Tarantino's. You just know you get great stuff.

Obviously, it is Christoph Waltz in the role of Col. Hans Landa, to whom all the applauds are going to. His performance is second to none. But I wouldn't underrate Brad Pitt's role as Lt. Aldo Raine. Terrific actor, extremely versatile.

Believe me, Quentin Tarantino gives a new look to the WWII. It may like you, it may not. It probably does. In the end, it's your call. I arrant enjoy it. I thought it was a work by a genius. Well done.

attitude is the key
16 April 2011
I can honestly say that there are very few better movies in its genre. A pure inspiration. I absolutely loved it. The way this film affects you can't be underestimated. Everybody who believe in good things happen to good people get something for their soul. This is Will Smith's greatest acting by a clear mile. He delivers so well. His powerful emotions and character development are amazing. He nails the role of Chris Gardner, a story of a salesman with ongoing contraries in life to achieve success through determination and attitude. In addition, he has his own son Jaden playing his son in the movie, so it's a natural match.

People need those kind of movies. They need something to keep them going. Many people are facing problems like Chris every single day. The movie not only gives inspiration, but it reminds us the most important factors to achieve success which are determination and attitude. The latter, in my opinion, is the key. Once you got it, impossible is nothing. The movie is in my elite list. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Serendipity (2001)

lucky man
19 March 2011
It's a very pleasing story. Terrific choice for the movie night with your dear one. The movie has many aspects. It makes you laugh several times. But at the same time keeps that aww-element which is crucial in romantic comedies. Serendipity is a nice way how to spend an evening.

What it takes to be a lucky man? There are many correct answers. One for sure is a great woman. John Cusack is definitely one of the luckiest man in the world. In Serendipity his muse is Kate Beckinsale. She's young and so cute. An extremely hot woman. They match very well. John makes jokes and is blunt-spoken. Kate shows some character and is so lovely that if you are a single man, you must fall for her. Of course, if you are straight.

A Good Year (2006)
9/10
brings back memories
18 March 2011
It's nice when you see a movie which is going to affect you emotionally. Well, A Good Year is exactly this kind of movie. It tells a story of a man who goes back to a peaceful château where he spent his childhood. He discovers new laid-back lifestyle which leads him to the woman he loves. It shows perfectly how something unexpected can change your life. The film totally delivers. It's a touchy and romantic tale which has a bit drama and comedy. In my opinion, underrated.

Russell Crowe shows his versatility. His character, Max Skinner, develops throughout the movie and it's satisfying to see. And I give my word, Marion Cotillard doesn't leave you cold. She's very likable. Brilliant Albert Finney cameos too.

The movie has several flashbacks to Max's childhood. I think many people, who have seen the movie, thought about their childhood afterwards. At least for a while. It's great. A Good Year is A Good Film.

limitless
10 March 2011
Firstly, I must say wow. This is really something you won't expect. Picture this, two guys sitting in an apartment and are having a discussion. They are talking about life and death, believing and unbelieving. And they go on for an hour and a half. What's your first thought? Not so interesting? Well, I suggest you think again. Because this one is a winner here. It totally delivers. If you are focused and you think along, you'll get the point and believe me, you are surprised in the end and maybe even you say wow. The movie has a power to open some eyes.

Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson are mesmerizing together. Very good performances by those great actors. Text is impressive. I mean, all this stuff just works man. There are no limits whether to see or when to see it. I just say it may make some good to someone.

crew is back
9 March 2011
Unfortunately I didn't see the movie in 3D. I'm sure I didn't lose much. Some tricks were still specially made for 3D though. But it's OK. I still laughed my socks off. It was extremely pleasing to see the crew back in action. Although I must admit, they have gone older. Fortunately not much wiser which means they still make you laugh so hard that you are going to pee into your pants. They are still disgusting, they get hurt, yet they enjoy all this merry-go-round. And why not? They are not just a group of people who came together to make some pranks and stunts, they are friends who like each others company and revel collective time.

Everybody has some kind of specialty. Johnny Knoxville likes bulls. Bam hates snakes. Dunn gets hurt. Dave England shits. Preston is stupid. Chris Pontius likes to play with his dick. Wee Man does pranks. Steve-O pukes and is just insane. What a fruit they are together.

dr. House is king in the hospital, not in the street
9 March 2011
In this movie you find lots of killing, blood, dirty language, tough guys etc. Almost everything you look from a good action film. But I must admit, it fell short. The story about a veteran cop who doesn't hesitate to put the bullet into the gangster's body and his corrupted detectives and chiefs, is quite interesting to follow. You can still foresense the ending though. Hey, but if you still wanna see a good cop movie, where a tough guy owns everybody, then go ahead. You get what you expect.

There are lots of interesting actors here. Rappers and other subject fields representatives. Keanu Reeves plays a tough veteran cop I was talking about earlier. He is pretty good. He has similar characters before and these roles suit him well. The greatest cameo is from Common, who leaves the impression that he actually is and hard-ass gangster is real life too. Forest Whitaker is a police chief. dr. House, I mean Hugh Laurie, is not. It was weird to see such a charismatic British actor who'll always be remembered as dr. House, playing a statement-making police chief in a Hollywood movie. Just look how he is in hospital scene and in anywhere else. He feels like at home.

revolutionary road is a street
9 March 2011
I like dramas. Good dramas make me smile because obviously they're so fascinating to see. But this one here, I don't know. It didn't achieve its purpose. It was like a tragedy. The more to the ending, the more story got depressing. But when I shun that, the movie itself was built really well. Storytelling was quite good one. This picture takes place in 50's, so the art-direction for the movie is very auspicious. There have been done some remarkable job.

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of my favorite actors. Leo and Kate Winslet haven't been in a same movie since Titanic back in 97'. Their reunion for this frustrating movie is the best outcome from it. They both give good performances, but as you could guess, there's no great destiny here for them too. Some couples just look good, but it doesn't mean they last forever.

Leo and Kate live in a nice white house which is located in Revolutionary Road. At first, I thought the title means the 'road' a young couple are going through, but I was way wrong. It's actually just a street name. But revolutionary for sure.

makes my name proud
28 February 2011
The Confession is only 26 minute long. It's really thrilling. I imagine that the script is so good that you can triple that time and make a full- length movie. I still liked the short film though.

Tanel Toom is unknown in film industry. Until now. Nominated for Oscar in short film category. This is a massive achievement for a young guy like Tanel. I assume this gives him a gigantic boost for the future. Well, he didn't win, but actually it doesn't matter that much. The best thing about this nomination is that his name is much better known now. And it can open many doors to him which were closed prior to nomination. He seems a bright fella. Maybe a future face of Estonian film business, who knows. Anyway, I'm glad for him.

True Grit (2010)
6/10
something's missing
21 February 2011
The Coen Brothers movies are always worth a look. True Grit was anticipated long time ago. It's a remake of John Wayne's famous western hit with the same name from the 60's. I must admit, there was more hype than delivery. Don't get me wrong here, I still enjoyed it. I loved the accents. Style was awesome. But yet I felt there was something missing. It's true, expectations were high, but they weren't sky-high. I guess all the Coen Brothers movies have been that good and I just didn't find it up to that level. My call however.

The cast is okay. Jeff Bridges is a great actor with a nice smokey voice. He is doing a fine job here. Unfortunately, Matt Damon is not for westerns. At least, I found it out to be a little mismatch. But on the other hand, Hailee Steinfeld was powerful. So pretty and so confy. Very likable and stole the show for me.

I don't know, maybe die-hard Coen Brothers' fans find it extremely good. Well, I'm not one of them, so I rate it average with a little plus.
