Alien (1979)
Finally got the theatrical experience
Went tonight to see the 45th anniversary re-release of Alien in theaters tonight and it was quite a treat. It had a cool little interview before the movie with Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez (the director of the upcoming Alien: Romulus) which I'm looking forward to seeing. I liked that Ridley Scott referred to the movie as a horror film a few times. Many people on the Internet classify it as sci-fi action, but I definitely think it's more of a horror film. I had never experienced Alien in the theater before and there were more than a few times that I was genuinely scared and totally creeped out with the atmosphere. And the jump scares actually worked (unlike many horror movies made these days). Had a great time and was pleasantly surprised to have the theater mostly full at about 85%. At least I wasn't the only one screaming out during those jump scares. So glad I got to see it on the big screen.
The Terminal List: Disruption (2022)
I understand the complaints of darkness.
So if you watch this show on a 4k Ultra HD TV, the lighting seems to not be a problem, however, I tried watching an episode on my phone, and yes it was like pitch black. I had to go in the settings on my phone and manually turn the display lighting to almost max. It was fine after that. I have had this issue with man Prime Video shows/movies if I'm not watching on my TV. I don't pretend to understand why it's fine on my TV and dark as hell on my phone, but I've learned to take the 3 seconds to switch my settings on my phone to almost display lighting "max" when I'm watching Prime Video content. It really takes a couple seconds and then you can see everything that was dark before. I don't know why it's Prime content that is like this. I think it's because many of us have our settings for brightness on display as automatic, but need to manually change the settings to bright. Just my opinion.
Barry: crazytimesh*tshow (2022)
Did anyone else notice the homage to Thief?
Love this show. It gets better and better. This is the episode we needed to get this season on track. Bonus: If you've ever seen the movie "Thief" directed my Michael Mann, you might understand the nod to the movie when Barry shows the photograph of "what he is about." Please tell me I'm not the only one that noticed this. Hint: Willie Nelson.
Hypnotic (2021)
A rip off of a book by Dean Koontz written in the 90's
So yeah it's not exactly the same, but the premise of a hypnotherapist being able to call someone and say a couple words that would hypnotize the person and basically put that person in a trance was explored in the book False Memory by Dean Koontz. I hope Koontz watches this and sues ha ha. Not a very good movie.
Reservation Dogs: Hunting (2021)
What did I just watch?
So I love this show. This episode was needed. As we delve more in the mystery of Daniel and what happened to him and how it impacted his family and friends, we get a whole episode with the best character on the show (come on we all love Willie Jack) and her father on a hunting trip. No spoilers here, however there is a scene where you might need some tissues close by, but in a good way. Best episode so far this season. A+.
