Blue Jasmine (2013)
Streetcar ripoff!
Truly pathetic Woody. A poor rendition, or better said rip off, of a classic film. Cate was decent and a pleasure seeing Dice, the only two high points. Don't waste your time, watch the original for film mastery.
Horace and Pete (2016)
Best show in 30 years!
Simply brilliant! Louis C.K. does it again but notches up from his previous projects. The writing is excellent and conveyed in the style of a play. It's brutally honest, straight to the point and very raw with dialog and subject matter. Its no holds barred approach hits you directly without any reservations or pretensions. And the character portrayals are real and believable. Each social commentary in every episode is poignant and timeless. It makes you think about yourself, your surroundings and the world in general. Almost every aspect of life is covered in this series. I wish all shows were given such attention and depth as this. I haven't enjoyed a production as much in 30 years. I truly hope Louis C.K. continues this line and follows up with a similar endeavor soon. I cannot get enough of this kind of presentation.
It's Alive (1974)
Simply Awful!
I was too young to see this when it came out but vividly remember the ads and was very intrigued at the time. I'm so glad it was R-Rated and had to wait to see it. It's one of the worst horror movies ever! The acting was truly awful. The story is pathetic in every way, from the characters, to the plot development and especially the thrill factor. There's zero suspense, very little gore and even the attack scenes didn't raise my pulse one beat. It also completely lacked the proper amount of "cheese" for a good 'B' Film. Don't waste the 91 minutes of your life on this piece of junk. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities about this movie whatsoever!
No Country for Old Men (2007)
One of the most overrated movies ever
I watched it twice just to make sure my opinion was valid from the first time. This is by far one of the most overrated movies of all time. The plot was thin to say the least. The acting was sub-par and sterile. There was nothing compelling about the characters at all, besides maybe the cocky brash cowboy hit-man played by Woody Harrelson. Even Tommy Lee Jones usual solid acting became blasé and boring half way through. Why and how this picture won any awards is beyond me. It just shows how bias and unauthentic the academy voting is. Don't waste your time watching this unless you find a senior citizen shuffleboard contest exciting.
