The Outwaters (2022)
Bomb with a capital "B"
1 March 2023
A relentless collection of bloody murky sequences which have no rhyme or reason, and whose only saving grace must be in one of the black screen shots over which I had eagerly fast-forwarded! Overlapping grisly images coupled with reverse screenshots whilst bizarre vocalizations furnished the backdrop .all the while a repeated humming of a melancholic lullaby only served to make this movie utterly disappointing. To compare this to Blair Witch Project is laughable. It started out promising enough by fleshing out the characters in a naturalistic enough manner but quickly descended into a chaotic bombardment of graphic self-serving blood and gore all the while throwing in bits of a puzzle which are never fully resolved but leaves the viewer quite perplexed and unsatisfied as to their relevance . Best acting would be from the 5 donkeys appearing at the beginning and end.

Ad Astra (2019)
Much ado about nothing
23 June 2020
This has got to be one of the most boring movies, I've seen aside from Night of the Lepus.Wooden performances, agonizingly slow pace, and just an overall disappointment on all fronts. Brad Pitt had no real stage presence and the lack of fleshing out the characters did little to create any empathy for the characters' deaths, or for Brad himself for that matter. An underwhelming greeting for his newly discovered dad, no voice inflection just a matter of fact "Hi Dad", was almost laughable! Donald Sutherland was the only interesting character but he was allotted a only a short couple of scenes. My advice, avoid this movie at all costs!

Bad Ben (2016 TV Movie)
dark horse that should have remained dark
28 June 2018
I can't believe all the good reviews this movie got. They must all be relatives of the actor/director. I've rarely seen such an amateur production. Bad stilted acting, bargain basement budget re special effects, predictable and highschoolish. Dodge a bullet and skip this clunker!!! 2/10 and that's being generous.

Bleak Night (2010)
Tour de Force
4 March 2017
This film is nothing less than a Tour de Force. From the exquisite acting skills, tight editing, melancholic atmosphere, it is the embodiment of what an excellent film is all about. It truly illustrates the expression, "less is more." No, it was not abounding in action, thrills, car races, and the like but requires the viewer to actually engage his intellect as he observes the gradual self-destruction of the so called leader of the pack. The film carries you along effortlessly as it envelopes you with deep resentments, guilt, jealousies, and low self-esteem issues. All this angst is interwoven with a realism rarely experienced in other films. I give it a resounding 10/10!!
