I saw this wonderful film when I was 15 in 1940, a local cinema in Barcelona and still love very much as well as the nostalgia that surrounds those days of black and white film that we like so much. talking about the film in its technical, special effects and perfect interpretation; all area perfect. "I don't know why they are doing chariot races - is nothing these races they made already in the Roman Empire" - commentary between the two journalists in the carriage - the interpretation of Anton Walbrook is memorable, as well as the rest of actors and actresses. scenarios are beautiful even in black and white, great staging of the thousands of extras and the Russian cavalry and tartar. Anton Walbrook in the role of Michael Strogoff is great, as well as Akim Tamiroff in the role of Ogareff, Fay Bainter is exquisite and sweet as the hero's mother, Elizabeth Allan as the girlfriend of Michel Strogoff is so beautiful and sweet as the heroines of those times, finally a great movie that I never tire of seeing and seeing.

Jack Buetel (September 5, 1915 – June 27, 1989) was an American film and television actor.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Buetel moved to Los Angeles, California in the late 1930s with the intention of establishing a film career. Unable to find such work, he was employed as an insurance clerk when he was noticed by an agent who was impressed by his looks.

Introduced to Howard Hughes, who was about to begin filming The Outlaw, Buetel was signed to play the lead role as Billy the Kid, with the previously signed David Bacon being dropped from the film. Hughes also signed another newcomer, Jane Russell, for the female lead, and realizing the inexperience of his two stars, also signed veteran actors Thomas Mitchell and Walter Huston.

Buetel was signed to a standard seven-year contract at $150 per week and was assured by Hughes that he would become a major star. Filmed in late 1940 and early 1941, The Outlaw officially premiered in 1943 but was not widely seen until 1946. It was notable for suggesting the act of sexual intercourse, uncommon in mainstream movies of the era, and for allowing characters to "sin on film", without a suitable punishment also being depicted, in violation of the Production Code. Much of the publicity surrounding the release of the film focused on Jane Russell, and she established a solid film career, despite critics giving her performance in The Outlaw poor reviews.

Buetel's performance was also highly criticised, and he languished with Hughes refusing to allow him to work. The director Howard Hawks tried to secure his services for the film Red River (1948), but after Hughes refused to allow Buetel to take part, Montgomery Clift was chosen and Clift went on to an active film career.

In 1951 Buetel appeared in Best of the Badmen, his first film appearance in eleven years. Over the next few years he appeared in five more films, and made infrequent appearances on television. In 1956, he landed the role of 41-year-old Jeff Taggert in Edgar Buchanan's syndication western series, Judge Roy Bean. Others who appeared regularly in the 39-episode series, set in Langtry, Texas, were Jackie Loughery, X Brands, Tristram Coffin, Glenn Strange, and Lash La Rue. Buetel's last acting role was in a 1961 episode of Wagon Train. He also appeared as himself in the 1982 Night of 100 Stars television special.

He died in Portland, Oregon, and was buried at Portland Memorial Park.

The first time I saw this movie was in 1950 in a local cinema in Barcelona,(​​double session). in those days was something daring for a film the scenes between Jack Russell and Jean Beutel, although personally I was impressed mainly by the beauty of Jane Russell. I love the way the plot of the film, especially by the end of the story, unlike some other versions as to the truth of whether it was who killed Pat Garrett Billy the Kid. I prefer this ending for me was a surprise. It was a pity that Howard Hughes thus ruin the career of a good actor like Jack Beutel, but it also happened with other very good players, which ended up being ignored and forgotten. back to the movie I liked a lot. photography is excellent, the normal dialogs, the correct interpretation, since the lack of a good director and best screenplay had yielded better results. definitely a good movie.

I just saw Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, and I must express my total disagreement on how the story is told in the movie. first of all, I find it unfortunate casting, mainly referred to Adonijah, according to 1st Kings chapter 1, verse 6 (1st Kings 1-6), Adonijah was very good-looking, and George Sanders was well on in years and anything beautiful. following the steps in 2nd Samuel, of children born to King David in Hebron, the king's David firstborn was Amnon , Adonijah was the fourth child who has King David in Hebron of Haggith. In the film, Salomon kills Adonias (this fight was when died of a heart attack Tyrone Power, who was the first to embody Salomon), but it was not King Solomon who killed Adonias but according to 1st Kings 2-25, reads: "Then King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who attacked the (Adonias), and died." and so Hollywood producers always changing the stories as always, thinking only about money, how to get higher profits on their investments. personally I find it deplorable. I'm also in total disagreement with the queen Sheba history in the movie.

Today I saw again "The Red Shoes" based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen. I enjoyed watching the ballet "The Red Shoes" and listening to the Royal Philharmonic in London, but especially the wonderful interpretation of Moira Shearer who dances brilliantly a practically floating in the air like a bird, but also its cinematic interpretation is pride. Anton Walbrook splendid that made me remember his memorable performance in the version of "Michael Strogoff" 1936, I was a child then, but I have not forgotten the golden age of cinema, made us forget about everyday problems. returning to the film, the choreography is splendid, the scenery sublime and divine dresses. the direction of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger very successful and with them the rest of the actors involved. today no longer make films like this, now only the sound raw, showy effects and the absurd and grotesque with bad taste and free speech. I therefore highlight this unforgettable film that one never tires of seeing and seeing again and again. I'm very gratefully to have been born in this wonderful era and could seen this and others marvellous movies.

I'have seen this movie many years ago. the movie is very good mainly for the acting of beautiful Rita Hayworth, but as always Hollywood producers have the bad habit of change stories.The original story is written by Manuel Pinella and the title is "El gato montes", opera in three acts. in 1917 was presented in Madrid and 13 September 1922 in Park Theatre, New York. the opera (story) is based in rivaltry between the toreador and the bandit Juanillo for the love of gypsy Solea, her loves really the bandit, who become an outlaw for defender the honor of Solea, but she fells atach to the toreador in gratitude for him assist her when she was in some difficulties when was wandering in the streets. The two rivals confront in a duel with knife but Solea spare them. then the next Sunday Rafael the toreador (bullfighter), is catch in a corrida and dies. Juanillo the bandit kidnap Solea and take her to the sierra refuge, but he is porsuit till there, because he is afraid to be taken for the civil guards he prefers to die and ask one of his friend to shot him to death and so he lies dead in the arms of Solea. I agree that the cast of Glen Ford was a mistake in the role of civil guard after becomes the bandit. I should prefer for this role Douglas Fairbanks who has more the type of Latin and who can act much better, remember him in "The corsican brothers" and his father in the "The mark of zorro", among others.

was God in the Old Testament racist? why Israel have slaves in the Old Testament? the people from the Old Southern were racist? dint they become racist after the end of the war between states? what was the cause of the creation of the KU-KLUX-KAN? well I think the movie "The birth of a nation" explain perfectly well the reason of first the war between states, and second the KU-KLX-KAN move. is a fantastic movie from the beginning to the end, and if I was American citizen I will not be ashame but for one reason, that the war never resolves nothing but dead of million of people, and the human been and the history of humanity shows perfectly well, that humans will never learn for their mistakes. one more question, why the hell!!! ,they were blacks only in the African continent???, of course before the USA, the British, the french and the Spanish start with the traffic of slaves from Africa to America. its very curiously that the black people were only in the African continent, isn't it?

I liked this movie, but would prefer in black&white of course. colours movies are not real like b/w. I have seen this movie in 1954 at the time was 30 years old, and always remember the glorious years of Hollywood movies in b/w. even now that I have 87 old, I still prefer B/W movies in the old times. The cast maybe is not the appropriate and the dialogues are not reach enough, but all this is eclipsed with the always fantastic performance of one my favourite actors James Cagney. Raoul Walsh also one of my favourites directors do his best, considering the imposition of the producer always regarding more for the money that for art. nevertheless I have enjoy again very much this OK movie.

I like this movie "THE LAST DAYS OF SODOM AND GHOMORRA", (all the actors are good enough), but not the way is told, because there are many mistakes in the sequences related in the movie, far apart from the book "Genesis" if you read chapters 13 till 19, you will see what I mean. the techniques and effects they employed are magnificent, considering the year the movie was done, but we must remark that God send fire from heaven to destroy the two cities like is related in Genesis. the two cities were discovered in 1973, near the Salt sea (Dead sea). Stewart Granger one of my favorite actors is well done his performance as Lot and credible, also Stanley Baker is very good in his role of Astaroth. Pier Angeli is here very charm and sweet as Ildith and Rossana Podesta as Shuah. I think that this kind of movie would do best for Cecil B.deMille expert in epic movies like "The ten commandments" Sansom and Delilah, Cleopatra, The sign of the cross, The greatest show on earth, etc.

I have seen this movie in 1958, and now I have seen it again after 53 years, and I have liked it the same as before. the only thing I was disgusted was the party they made after the bridge is finished, I found this ridiculous for soldiers, I say this because I serve for 7 years in the Legion, and we never will do this sort of ridiculous fiesta. the real history is nothing to do with the movie. of course I understand the producers that looks very much for the money, instead of the reallity, and I disagree totally with this matter, I prefer movies made accordingly with the true history, and the Hollywood movies they are plenty of this fiction movies, but not reality and you become very disappointed when you take acquaintance of the real history.
