Dylda (2019)
Simply Stunning
Truly something i will seek out and watch again. There are scenes where the audience holds its breath and begins to breathe again when the characters move beyond the constraint. The actions and reactions are so informed by the preceding involvement of women in wartime. None of the relationships can be restarted without having been shifted by violence and uncertainty. But the players are trying to reframe the conventions of life outside conflict. The range of emotions that flow across their faces is astounding. Brilliant performances against a palette of red and green where each scene is a painting.
Plastic Man: The Artful Life of Jerry Ross Barrish (2014)
Art is a Part of this Story
The art of Jerry Barrish is a focal point for the movie and it is so interesting & complex in ways I wasn't expecting. But so is the life and careers of the artist. It unfolds in a smart path that builds to a perfect place. You will be wondering what more could be behind such seemingly simple works of expression. It incorporates many pieces from the collection (although I suspect there are thousands more waiting for a chance to be revealed.) And you will also take a journey through history as the biography of Jerry Barrish is told. If you like documentaries, art, biography, and tales well told, you will enjoy Plastic Man.
