The Outcast (2015)
10/10
The good old BBC has done it again...
25 July 2015
The good old BBC has done it again... what a magnificent series, I cant think of any other 2 part series that was this gloomy, and yet beautiful and perfect in every sense of the word..., from the very beginning to the end, I cannot recollect even one misstep. George MacKay kills it as the protagonist, Lewis Aldridge. Im sure this guy is going to make it big... the range of emotions that he portrays is mind- boggling, he portrayed them all, each and every one of them. And once again manages to drive home the point why the brits are way better actors than their American counterparts. If I had to sum it all up in a sentence; Watching 'The Outcast', I didn't even blink once. PS: Not for people who don't like dark and gloomy dramas. PPS: If you are broken, then this is probably one of the best series that you will ever come across in your life.

Jack Bauer is Back, & frankly thats the only thing that matters!!! :D
5 May 2014
Loved it.., but something felt off... it wasn't as great as I hoped it to be, at times it didn't even feel like 24, the tinkering with the ticker color & font didn't help either..., I wish Heller wasn't the President..., even Stephen Fry didn't impress... & thats where the main problem lies, even with a stellar supporting cast, its only Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub & Benjamin Bratt who look like they belong in the show/story..., the rest are just stuck, lost in between..., Michelle Fairley was great, but we only got to see her for some seconds..., hoping she saves the show. Not that it needs to be saved per se, but its unfair to have a show rest on one mans shoulders..., however f#@$ing good he may be, he cant be in every other frame... Gbenga Akinnagbe & Yvonne Strahovski are horrible, especially the former. Coming back to Bauer/Kiefer Sutherland, he certainly looks a bit aged, but at the same time he looks angrier & grumpier than ever, not in the mood for anything, well, other than saving the world for the nth time... As for the background score, it felt a bit wanting, in the first two episodes there was only one moment where the score was great, at other times it didn't feel like Sean Callery. And may be, its just the whole setting, there were times when I wished they were back in America. So was it worth the wait, totally if you are a fan of 24 like me, who loves Bauer, but if you are someone who just likes the show, then you will be disappointed.

The Blacklist: The Stewmaker (No. 161) (2013)
Season 1, Episode 4
1/10
I wish there was a zero option
16 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The Blacklist: S01E04, The Stewmaker: 0/10 Against better judgement, I decided to give this show one more try, after all, how bad could it be, well, guess what, it can be really really bad. In the pilot they made FBI look like complete idiots, in this episode, they decided to make the Marshals looks worse than the FBI. I don't have any love towards the US Marshal Service, but their record with WITSEC is commendable, making them look completely useless & in such a manner was a disgrace to watch. At this point I was still OK to go along, I honestly thought this was the lowest the show could fall to. Then came the Indian in the show, the one who was equally appalling in Alcatraz, at first I thought she too was FBI (I had not watched ep 2 & 3), after a bit of googling I came to know she's CIA, so now, not only do we have a dumb FBI, inefficient Marshall service, we even have the FBI & CIA playing all buddy buddy, how creative & real, so all that rivalry between the two agencies was just a smokescreen to fool the rest of the world & Americans, lets forget for the time being that CIA is now operating on US soil, right out in the open for everybody to see, why stop there, they are even into interrogating suspects like any other law enforcement agency. The worst part, apparently even the CIA are a bunch of useless dumbf$#@s as they too have no idea of all these hit men, who Reddington knows of, again, so believable. Now lets come to the episode in question, it starts of with unbelievable poor dialogue, goes chugging along the crazy train for some time, then hops onto the crazy train, here an FBI agent whose handing over a suspect to Homeland Security gets abducted, what happens to the Homeland Security agents you ask?? well like all law enforcements agencies in this show, they too are a bunch of useless dumbf$#@s, who not only get their agents killed, they EVEN don't make an effort to go after the people who killed their agents, like the US Marshal Service earlier in the episode, apparently agents getting killed is just another normal day in the USA & their agencies will do nothing to avenge that. So, where was I, the abduction, lets skip to the end, nothing really happens in between, other than complete hogwash, no point wasting time writing abt it. So now we have Reddington who gets the address of the cabin in the woods through a dog service company, impersonating the Stewmaker, never mind the fact that earlier in the episode he had no idea of the Stewmaker's name, but like everything on this show, how & from where he gets the name too is not explained, skipping through more of the bullshit, Reddington does what he has to do, which is kill the hit-man, I mean why keep him alive, when you can get a b$#tload of intel from the man, killing makes total sense. Here comes the most hilarious part, he kills the man just in time & kneels in a surrendering position just a second before the useless FBI with an equally CIA officer break through the door of the cabin, so not only is he a criminal mastermind, he is a psychic too, otherwise how on earth can you explain the timing, & the name of the hit-man he had impersonated earlier over the phone in the episode, who he had just heard of, never seen or knew his name.

So is there anything else they could do worse, they sure can, haven't you heard of the Secret Service, no no, not the agents who protect the President, they even look after the treasury, Im sure one of these days they will be an attempt to rob the treasury, & going by the standard of writing seen so far, Im sure its going to be a successful robbery.

Breathtakingly Awesome
25 June 2012
It feels so good to write this, especially after all those bad reviews I read before watching the pilot. First off, its way off HBO's platter.... that said, its a very welcome & needed addition. So here goes, In all the shows or rather all the pilots that I have watched so far, mind you I have watched a hell lot of those, at least a minimum of 500, nothing comes close to this, Aaron Sorkin, a genius by all counts just shows why he is called one, if u thought he was great in The West Wing(Im talking of its good days), The Social Network, The American President, then he's in outstanding form here, its like the years never rolled by, its like 'A Few Good Men' for the small screen. It makes u feel alive, its as if u are part of the show, & once ur sucked ie less than a minute in, u just never come out till the end. Moffat can now take a back seat, he's no longer the best on the small screen, Sorkin's back to take his crown. If u thrive on awesome awesome writing then this is the show u need to watch, It takes u back to the good old days of dramatic television without even making u feel like its a soap, not even for a second. The cinematography & the editing need a bit of work done, but hey its only a pilot. Be warned, its not ur Breaking Bad's, 24's, Lost's, The Wire's, The Sopranos's, GOT's etc., its that other genre of television, the one which leaves a sweet pleasant taste in your mouth after the episode. It was as if I was watching one of those political movies, though this show still hasn't been political per se, whats its been is a complete opposite, picking up/mocking on everyone. The pilot left me content & still wanting for more, how often does that happen, never! Its always been wanting for more & never content. What would have made this show even more great, or rather epic from the word go would have been casting George Clooney in the place of Jeff Daniels for the role of Will McAvoy, but hey, thats just me & my wishful thinking. Anyways Its Sorkins show all the way, u can feel he's the soul of the show, if the writing continues to be anything like this, then its a sure shot for many Emmy nominations & wins. I rate it 9.5 out of 10, I would have given it a 10 if Will McAvoy(Jeff Daniels) had kissed Mackenzie MacHale(Emily Mortimer) by the end of the episode...., so yeah its that good, stop listening to the critics & watch this one, calling it a gem is an understatement.
