Buried Alive (2007)
Takes Place in an Alternate Stupid Person Dimension
If you find yourself owning this movie then go ahead and just throw it in the trash. This movie is an absolute waste of time. It's as if a middle school student wrote this. The acting is on par with an elementary school play, the story is more predictable then the tides and the story is just stupid. These characters do not act like human beings. "Oh I just saw my friend kidnapped via our web cam, but I'm not going to call the cops I'm going to do a web cast about how I'm not sure why she wont return my phone calls" YOU WATCHED THE KIDNAPPING!!!!! CALL THE FREAKING COPS!!!!!! Seriously she never calls the cops she just keeps wandering around acting like a whack job. Lets not also forget the brother who thinks she is crazy despite the evidence showing the kidnappings. Do not ever watch this movie. If I could rate this any lower I would.
The Deaths of Ian Stone (2007)
A Cheesy Good Time
As far as the 8 films to die for series goes this one rates among the better ones. It has it's story and sticks to it. The acting is actually very good and the story kept me interested. The movie does get a wee bit on the cheesy side towards the end and I fee like there was some missed potential with this concept but it was definitely well worth the watch. My biggest complaint is how stupid the monsters look. I really feel like they could have done a whole bunch more with them if they had taken to time. But if my only complaint is that the monsters are stupid then I think the movie did a pretty good job especially for a low budget film. If you get the chance to see this I don't think you will be disappointed.
El orfanato (2007)
How Horror Needs To Be Done
This movie was absolutely fantastic. The acting was top notch, the set ups for the scary parts was almost torture in how slow and meticulous it set everything up. It even had a couple jump scares that actually worked as well. The ending was also heart wrenching and overall satisfying. The problems I hear people having are that it's to slow and that it turns into a drama at the end rather then a horror movie. To me these complaints are just from people who probably like the slasher kill them all movies as opposed to horror movies that take their time and let you try to figure out what's happening and why. The ending again is very emotional and is very dramatic. If you like the slower paced movies then this is definitely worth checking out if you haven't you will not be disappointed.
The Hitcher (2007)
Nothing Special in a world of morons
This movie could have been a lot better if there weren't so many what in the hell moments. I understand that it's a movie and I need to suspend my disbelief but some of it was just to much. Seriously the cops in this must have been the dumbest on the planet. Also our main characters make some very stupid decisions. I mean I guess if they made good decisions they wouldn't have picked up a hitchhiker in the first place, but running away from the cops even though the evidence will show you didn't kill the people. The soundtrack also didn't fit in a couple spots either. One thing that deserves credit is the acting was actually pretty good. Usually horror movies are not packed with actors that make you go wow, but this one was actually very respectable. Overall the movie isn't anything great but it a lot better then some. http://moviegrabbag.blogspot.com/
