Don't Let Go (2019)
Suspenseful, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat entertainment
I've been wanting to watch a movie like this for a while. But I was a bit thrown off by the bad reviews and almost didn't see it. The plot was twisting and turning so much that I was caught off guard at the end. There was no gratuitous sex or violence which primarily left the actors to make this movie work and work it they did - the actors were superb. The director was superb. It was so good and entertaining to me that I walked away completely satisfied and was talking about the plot with my friends for a while afterwards. If you want a twist and turn suspense thriller - watch this movie.
Happy 40th (2015)
A definite must see.
I was hesitant about watching this movie after I read the summary only because I was feeling down and wanted more of a pick-me-up theme. I was so glad I went ahead decided to view it as it not only picked me up, but took me down and around and back up again. The acting was amazing - pure, electric, emotive, realistic, passionate, convincing, and at times even playful.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie - it made me think and dig through layers of what my expectations would be for myself, my spouse and friends were I to encounter the same life- altering challenges the characters in the movie were forced to deal with.
The actors became the characters - their skills were such that, at times I was so immersed in a particular scene, I felt like I was in the same room with them.
Also, the directing was fantastic. (Contrary to what a previous comment stated, I thought the director looked about the same age as the other women in this movie).
I plan on seeing this movie again!
American Sniper (2014)
Incredible Movie
I read Chris Kyle's book "American Sniper." This movie was amazingly true to the book.
Clint Eastwood proves what a great director he is.
He created a poignant, amazing and suspenseful movie.
Bradley Cooper proves what a gifted actor he as he transformed himself into Chris Kyle - he became Chris Kyle.
Not only in physical appearance (as he bulked up, grew a beard and spoke with a Southern accent), but he captured this American Hero's very essence - his love for his family, brothers-in-arms, and his country, his expertise as one of the best US military snipers in US history and a Navy Seal.
Sienna Miller was wonderful too as Taya Kyle.
Go see it! You won't be disappointed.
The Dilemma (2011)
We loved it! Great Movie for a Rainy Day
My husband and I watched this movie with no high expectations and really enjoyed it.
It reminded me of a Woody Allen movie, but not as intense.
It was comical:
There were times when I was laughing so hard, I couldn't hear myself (you know those times). The comedic nuances are what make this script so good.
It was dramatic:
The issues highlighted are what we all face every day and Ron Howard was excellent in his ability to bring out the actors' strengths in these areas.
The script zig-zagged between funny, sad, emotional, funny haha, somber, touching and poignant.
I imagine if I had paid big bucks to see this in a theater, I would have been a bit disappointed - and the reason for that is, it's not a fast-paced movie, nor does it have any amazing special effects; nor were people being eaten by zombies or blown away by high-powered rifles.
But watching it at home, on a rainy day, with plenty of time to appreciate the subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle humor, as well as the drama, made viewing this movie an enjoyable treat.
All the main actors, Jennifer Connelly, Queen Latifah, Kevin James and Channing Tatum were excellent. Vince Vaughn was outstanding - he showed how gifted he is as an actor in this role.
Expertly directed by Ron Howard.
Not sure if this is a spoiler, but since we own a 2010 Orange Dodge Challenger 6.1 liter w/Hemi (530 hp - modified of course), the classic Dodge Challenger Vince Vaughn's character drove throughout the movie, as well as that "Dodge" was included in the storyline peripherally, was nice.
