Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Nostalgia Overload
I was 10 years old when the original Ghostbusters was released and I have seen it probably over a 100 times, and pretty much know it verbatim. The second one had its moments but didn't even come close. The 2016 version I won't even discuss as it was abysmal. Fast forward to 2021 and we have Ghostbusters Afterlife. I loved every single minute of this film and to me it was a love letter to the original. Jason Reitman the son of the original director Ivan Reitman has made for me one of the best films I've seen for a long time. So many nods and Easter eggs to the original that I was constantly smiling throughout. Afterlife has the same score as Ghostbusters and you can hear it throughout. The characters are flawless and all bring something to the movie especially Egons grandaughter. Paul Rudd as always is hilarious and brings a fair amount of comedy to the role. The last half of the film was so nostalgic and reminded me of when I was a kid and saw the original for the first time. I cried more than once watching this movie as it made me so happy and if you love the original then you will adore Afterlife. It was a very touching goodbye to Egon aka Harold Ramis. Bravo Jason Reitman bravo.
Alien³ (1992)
A different take on the same beast..
I saw this at the cinema upon release going into the cinema with no expectations.. Coming from David Fincher who I'd not known of at the time I didn't know what to expect.. It has a very mixed cast with the best of British including the amazing Charles Dance and Pete Postlethwaite and Ralph Brown and Paul McGann.. With Lance Henriksen and Charles S Dutton from the States. Personally I loved this movie it has everything you could possibly want from an Alien movie. The films tension is always first and foremost and keeps you on your toes. I mean you know what to expect but this movie does it all on its own and stands out from the Alien franchise. The script is very good and the fact that it's pretty much lead by an English cast makes it that much better. For me it has everything you could want from an Alien movie and I'd like to point out that the films soundtrack is amazing by Elliot Goldenthal and it was his first mainstream score and it really stands out. I think that the franchise should of finished with this movie but unfortunately we have Alien Resurrection to follow this..To finish I have very fond memories of this movie and always watch it when it's on. I used to have the whole film on tape cassette which I listened to over and over as a teenager. Probably why I know the film word for word.. Absolutely love it..
Johnny Gruesome (2018)
Gruesome?? When?
I didnt expect a great deal from this before watching it and that's exactly what I got nothing.. It was laughable to the extent of diresome...If you are thinking of watching this I wouldn't bother. Nobody in it can act and the effects for this generation are really bad. If this was made in the early 90s it would of been passable.
