Tedious
8 September 2023
This is one of the most tedious movies I've seen in a while. Is it Possession movie, a zombie movie and demonic, but not too great on either of those. This is what happens when you just don't know what you're making so you slam any "scary scene" into it. It has subplots that simply aren't needed as they come to nothing. The first 50/60 minutes is meant to be character building but it could have been in 20 minutes. It's runtime is just ridiculous. "Ceremonies" are seemingly the answer to everything according to the director and take up a good portion of time. The main girl is quite good as the possessed character but that doesn't matter when you're already bored. I can't believe some of the reviewers on here comparing it to The Wailing, it is NOWHERE near the standard of that masterpiece. Ultimately I was disappointed and underwhelmed. It's a 5 for me and that's generous.

Impractical Jokers: John Mayer (2023)
Season 10, Episode 4
Hollow 😔
9 March 2023
I don't know whose uprating these episodes because the are definitely not 7s,8s,9s or 10s but I can sorta understand, but you gotta let it go. Sure there are rare laughs and even rarer lol moments. I'm no for on instance saying Joey was the glue but it was more the 4 held their own. Love the guys to bits and thank them for 10 years of hilarity.

And for a little kicker there should have been plenty of possible challenges, not just a season opener done on a whif that has been done (and failed miserably beforehand)

And the number of challenges should SURELY be more than 2 now that there's less jokers and more time.

Love these guys, but it's the end of the road "fellas". I'll follow you on your future endeavours and wish you guys the best.

Underrated
5 January 2023
This is by far the most faithful movie to the original PlayStation games and if you're pissed off with that then stick to playing Resident Evil 7 ,8, 9....god knows how many bad instalments have been brought to screen over the years. If you miss Alice & Co then go back to your Paul Anderson and Milla Jovovic movies and stop trying to educate the people who PLAYED Resident Evil 1 & 2. You weren't around, and by the way, neither was "Alice" in the first game. This has the mansion, the police station, the Redfields, Wesker and crew and Leon. PROPER Resident Evil characters from the original and best games of the series. Do your homework and stop whining about a movie that is actually like the games.

Unique, but.....
5 January 2023
.......ultimately boring. This movie tries and thinks that it's intelligent and thought provoking but it's nowhere near as good as it thinks.

The cast are all really good but the storyline has been done before and this never punches above its weight as the director/writers obviously thought they were telling a rework of a well received novel. No. It's not that easy. I say this about every movie as it's the simplest, easiest way to think. "Was it entertaining?". The answer here is no. It just wasn't.

Oh, what could have been! You only had to copy the source material and you would have been on to a winner, Noah!

Highly Recommended.....

.....to people I hate, and I don't hate anyone! Let's have a go at dissecting some of the higher rated "reviews". There are a good few that mention A24 picking up on this. Yep, they're on crack. One review says "It's what it was like waking up when they were in the late 90s early 2000s" What??! What kind of a s#+y upbringing did you have?! I don't understand why there are reviews saying there is spoilers in this as at 13 minutes you see feet. Around 30 mins you see a toilet appear then disappear. At 58 mins you see a face.

That's it!

I'm doing the director a huge favour in not even giving this a rating. I'm not the hardest critic on movies by any stretch. Just look at my reviews on certain "terrible" movies and you'll see I always try to put at least a good spin on some quite badly rated films but this took the piss.

If I recommended this move to any friends I would expect a serious phone call straight after asking what I'd ever done to them.

I see this was Crowdfunded as well....sorry folks. I don't know why I'm apologising, but someone should. The ending is just an unclearer picture of the grisly finding on the mobile phone in the mockumentary Lake Mungo.

An absolutely shocking attempt at a movie. If this was an art project the film maker must have been pretty embarrassed when handing this in.

So, all in all, if I had to say how I felt about this piece of garbage I'd say: if I had done something terrible and was given the death penalty or to watch this, just ONCE a day for the rest of my life, I'd say "bring on the steak, medium rare, thanks. I'm outta here".

No Surprise
11 November 2022
This documentary has dropped unfortunately too late for any effect on the upcoming, completely rigged World Cup in Qatar. This oil-rich country, who had no international football team when the "decision" was made is an absolute joke of a country. Completely sports-washed and voted for by a bunch of old men looking for a last ditch payday. Their lack of anything notable in sports, let alone football is STILL not even the main story, but their lack of human rights and terrible working conditions that have resulted in deaths of some people IS. These Arab princes should just stay away from the beautiful game and concentrate on their own issues. Stop trying to barge in to a market where you're not wanted. No wonder EA Sports have dropped the name FIFA from its own branding next year. They've definitely known this documentary was coming and want nothing to do with them.

Great Documentary
4 November 2022
Have to admit I didn't know there was a documentary being made about my favourite sub-genre of all time so was pleasantly surprised when I seen this pop up on Shudder. It has most of the main people from the right movies in it, especially the guys from "The Last Broadcast" and "Ghostwatch". I think that this documentary could actually work as a real eye-opener for horror fans who have issues with Found Footage and how misunderstood it can be. Most of these movies ,(taking out a few like Cloverfield, End of Watch, As Above, So Below), are worked on by people who have a story to tell but don't have the money to do a "real" movie. That's one of the things I love about FF. The followers don't judge a movie by its looks, but by how good the story is, and isn't that the main thing? Surely everyone who watches movies are after entertainment, if not then why? And that's the real beauty of it. Sure I'll admit that 95 out of 100 are terrible and not just terrible to people who don't like FF, but everyone. The barrel needs to be scraped to find a good one, but when you do it's brilliant. Recent movies like Hell House LLC, Horror in the High Desert and Deadstream prove that there's still life in the old dog yet.

Highly recommended documentary!

Not bad!
29 October 2022
I first watched this a year or so back and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting shoddy work but the writer has obviously done his homework (disregard the new trilogy, it follows the original franchise). The "actors" were adequate and it's kinda cool how the bring in a good few of the characters from the original who tell us their own personal opinion and point-of-view on the night that unfolded on 31st of October 1978. I honestly don't understand one reviewer who has given it a 3 because they were led to believe that this was an actual documentary 🙄 I mean REALLY? Yeah, so Michael Myers is real and these are real people who've went to hell and back, but they'll talk to a documentarian?! Geezo!

Anyway, go into this blind and don't have too high expectations, it's fan made, and you might enjoy it.

Not the full story
14 October 2022
First of all I want to say that Evan Peters and Richard Perkins absolutely knock it out the park in this series, and to be honest, all the actors are great. There's things missed out on though which are maybe too heavy for the series but it's already heavy enough so why not if they're in the actual accounts confirmed. Why they made Tony's friend black is pointless as he is an actual bigger part of the story than shown. He was a big suspect in the disappearance of Tony and was realy given a tough time from the police. It also didn't tell the full details of what Dahmer done with his victims after killing them. The clarity of the timeline isn't great either. I have no problem jumping from 1989 to 78 then 91 for instance, but it's only shown what year it's bounced to a few times in this whole series and could be confusing to some.

All in all I'd recommend it to friends but anyone who has seen "Dahmer on Dahmer" will know more details than given in this 50 hour series.

The Godfather of Found Footage
13 October 2022
I've had a 10 rating on this for years but never reviewed it. I've read some of the reviews on here and felt I had to step in. People who've actually just watched this for the first time (I find this crazy, have you been living on Mars?) have to realise that this is TWENTY THREE years old! If you've seen the likes of the Paranormal Activity franchise, Cloverfield, End Of Watch (3 different genre's there) then you have to thank the Blair Witch crew. If you've seen others but find this a bit lame then remember, those movies you're comparing this to, thank the Blair Witch crew. If you've ever enjoyed ANY Found Footage movies, thank the Blair Witch crew. It's simple in its premise, it blew the horror genre right up to peoples faces and ended what was a pretty lean decade for horror (90's) and kicked the 2000s into horror overdrive. If you weren't old enough to get totally hyped up because this "major story", which was all over the tv and the internet and was realistic enough for IMDb to have the 3 main characters listed that their whereabouts were "unknown" then you'll see it was a pretty huge stunt which pissed a good few people off. Even Roger Ebert has it down as 10/10 and he was always pretty damning on horror movies in general. This movie changed an entire industry and created thousands upon thousands of people's perception about making a story they'd written be brought to a cinema, vod and direct to sale.

I'll end saying this. I guarantee there's at least one movie that you as an individual like that was inspired by the Blair Witch Project.

10/10.

Misunderstood & Mislabelled
11 October 2022
Just finished watching and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think that Mr Harrington's Phone would be a good enough storyline to be brought to the big-screen but, evidently, it has. The people moaning about it not being scary are way off. The short novella was really good but it was more of a drama like the movie. The movie does differ on some aspects of the source material and I don't know why it did as it worked perfectly fine in the writing. All I'll say is, don't expect horror. You'll not at one single point be scared, but the book never tried to be. It's just down simply as horror as that description goes down well with movie descriptions and Stephen King.

Brilliant!
10 October 2022
We found footage fans are a rare breed. We all fully admit that we have to trawl through many, many terrible attempts to find a good one. This is not a good one, but a great one! Shawn, ("Joseph Winter" who is also the director), is absolutely hilarious! The film centres on a disgraced YouTube influencer who's finally allowed back on social media after a six month ban for paying a bum to fight him and hospitalising him. His next endeavour is to go into a "supposed" haunted house for the night on his own with hilarious and sometimes scary scenarios. That's all I'll say because it's better off going into this one blind. It's a sure-fire cult status movie in the making and deserves any awards it hopefully receives. It's original and fresh in a saturated market of meh type movies. Fun and entertaining. Highly recommended!

Great FF
2 October 2022
It took me an age to find this. It's a Mexican FF horror. Highly recommended for FF fans. It's set in 1974 and a grainy camera is used to give more authenticity. It starts off pretty basic but by halfway through you can tell it's going to get better. It's definitely worth a watch if you can find it. I don't want to give anything away as it's better going in blind. As I said, it took a lot of digging to find this and you'll need to seek out the subtitles on your own. All in all, I highly recommend this to Found Footage, it's definitely one of the better in this sub-genre. If you can find it. 8/10.

Good Documentary
2 October 2022
I had never heard of this story beforehand, but it was a really well put together documentary. It literally takes you down the road from a seemingly eccentric guy who's actually done a "TED Talks" episode on his adventures, to a well and truly snapped person. There are a few characters who recall in hindsight some startlingly strange conversations and text messages on the days leading up to the event and there is guilt felt from a few, but there's no way in hell they could have imagined in their wildest dreams that this crime would go down. I cannot imagine how scared the reporter Kim Wall must have felt when the s#*t hit the fan.

Once again.....
15 September 2022
Another documentary about cults and "religious" groups showing that a mothers love can be shattered by these weirdo's. How can people be so gullible?! I'm an atheist but I truly respect other people who believe in a god as long as they don't try to preach to me, but these groups take it too far. So sad that there are people out there who feel so much of a void in their own life that they get hooked in by these nutters. A decent documentary but once again Netflix feel the need to chop up what could have been an hour and a half documentary, not two 50 minute episodes and the last 39 minutes. I guess they just want to have the words "true crime series".

Finally! IT's here!
15 August 2022
I've been waiting on this documentary for an age. I don't know why it took so long, but boy, it was worth the wait! I've seen many photos of behind the scenes but never any film so this was a treat. I much preferred the kids' stories in the first part (Tommy Lee Wallace) but I think that the second (Larry Cohen) suffered more for some reason even though in its day it was much easier to get away with adults being harmed. There's also a great section on John Ritter but not much of a mention of Harry Anderson but that's probably down to him sadly passing away a couple of years ago so around halfway through this production. All in all I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has an affinity to the 1990 mini-series. A great watch!

A Proper Ghost Story Mockumentary
6 August 2022
My rating of 10 has been on the database for a while and it's great to see the IMDb rating going up after years of being 5.7-5.8. Lake Mungo is an absolute masterpiece of a mockumentary. It often falls under the Found Footage formula which I'm a huge fan of, but it really isn't until the final act where (without spoilers), there's a truly chilling scene taken from a found mobile phone. The acting in this is astounding. It really feels like a documentary which I actually forgive some of the younger generation questioning if it's real or not. There is so many layers to this that just after you've got over a creepy as hell scene you only have to wait 10 minutes or so for the next one. Forget jump-scares if that's your cup of tea, this is all psychological. Many scenes have the "thing" you're meant to be looking at but if you look closer to the right or left of camera you'll often see something far more eerie. Overall I'd say to anyone who hasn't seen it and isn't put off by a slow-burning pace that leads to a full-on wtf! Last 15-20 minutes then go for it. You won't regret it!

Some of my favourite psychological horror movies from the last 2 decades are Session 9, Noroi: The Curse and Hell House LLC. So if you're into any of them then this should suffice.

Tremendous!

Impractical Jokers (2011– )

10 stars for 9 and a half seasons.
15 July 2022
This show has brought me sooo much fun over the years and I'm so thankful to the guys for making crap days fun just by chucking a few episodes on, but, let's not beat about the bush, it's not working without Joe. He was the glue and was the only one who could change a whole challenge on a whim. He could make us, and the guys, laugh just by staring at the camera. It's a real shame that the actors are not working out. I don't understand why they tried that way. I thought they could have brought in Cole or even Rob Emmer as a replacement but even that probably wouldn't have worked. I think season 10 may be the last, but I'll still follow all the guys in their respective future adventures.

Best episode since.....
15 July 2022
..... You know what's coming.

Since Joe left. It really isn't working with the special guests. I actually hate to say it because I love the guys but it's like it's back to the days of them when they b-roll filled 4-5 minutes between challenges by walking the streets and saying mostly unfunny stuff. Joe was the glue and the one who was by far the quickest on his feet to alter a challenge completely on a whim.

I can see Season 10 being the end unfortunately for the guys, but I'll still look out for them and whatever they go on to do.

Decent watch
14 June 2022
Firstly I have to state that many, many people just aren't getting the fact Annie's character is written to be this obnoxious idiot and plays the role to perfection because it's doing it's job. Maybe too well going by some reviews. It's a skill being able to make an audience hate you deliberately and you have to be able to differentiate between good acting doing it's job like this movie or because someone is just a crap actor. I think the younger audience are being (using their diction here) "triggered". Like the the little kid in the Babadook. Brilliantly done.

Anyway, onto the movie. I see a lot of people saying it's "disgusting". Well guys, that's called practical effects which have been worked on by actual people and not CGI and it affects viewers much more, for example, John Carpenters "The Thing" (I'm in no way saying this is anywhere near as good as that masterpiece). I found it entertaining which is obviously what I want from a movie, and at just 82 minutes, it's not too taxing. So it is gory, and I'm not a fan of too much gore in movies unless it adds to the story and isn't just for shock value or to make it horror.

The acting is fine and there's also a good few cameos from the cast of the directors first movie "Host" which I highly recommend.

Overall I would recommend this to friends and think it's a decent movie, especially for only a 2nd attempt at a movie. I'll definitely will be following this director in the future and look forward to more projects.

The synopsis for this movie was right up my street. It sounded brilliant. Yet unfortunately the movie is a total dud. There was such an opportunity missed on this one and I wouldn't even mind if someone else sorta stole the synopsis and made a better 80s type horror.

20 February 2022
Louis Theroux is without a doubt one of the best documentarian's in the world, but just leave these idiots be.

Within near enough every conversation he has the subject tries to explain their views, but go on talking and completely contradict what they've said in the space of minutes.

This Nick guy obviously has his own agenda and it's simply to become famous and rich whether it be through a good or bad way. The guys a pup and simply another Alex Jones wannabe.

The Alaska guy is just a wind up merchant whose found friends through gaming!

They're all the same and it's been done to the hilt and is becoming boring. A couple of reviewers have stated that it's only one side of the story, and whereas that's true, it's because the far-right just can't shut up and want screen time.

Just let the country burn, Louis. Let it burn.

A crazy storyline that even the synopsis makes you wonder why these women would think that a billionaire was out to find love on Tinder. An exiting story that takes you from one end of the world to the other, but there must have been so many red flags for each of them but they've been blindsided by the lavish lifestyle and money.
