Man of Steel (2013)
Man of Steel does a Batman Begins
Like every other recantation of Superman's beginning, is probably Man of Steel who creates the most compassion for the character. It is a sad but action-packed introduction which tells the father Jor-El's motives and villain Zods opposite willingness of those reasons. Superman aka Kal-El, aka Clark Kent, we meet 33 years later when the hand is a single adult man ion the operation around the world to find its origin, we get to see his childhood in flashbacks that talks about the difficulties he has had to adapt and follows his adoptive father's advice on what his fate might be. Everything becomes a clash when Zod coming to earth to take back was Jor-El stole from the dying home planet.
Kal-El must now choice side to defend those who fear him or help Zod to destroy the Earth and from the ashes left Krypton reappear. Love and no man to be a man filled with heavy fighting and shaky cameras plus the ever popular lens flare making a comeback. The first 90 minutes are good, a good story to tell, it's a shame that the film's climax is a full hour of blurry effects and rock concert loud bass sounds and noise mixed with music sound effects house and screams that seems to never end.
"My father believed That if the world found out who I really was, they'd reject me ... out of fear. He was convinced That the world was not ready. What do you think?"
Zack Snyder (who previously made "300," "Watchmen" and "Sucker Punch") has a unique style and a dark tone. He knows how to use effects, and it shows in Man of Steel. very few scenes that do not have special effects is incredibly beautiful. But when the action gear is ii fiver becomes overdrive and it gets more Michael Bay's Transformers. Music is good it is very boom-boom but new Superman theme is very fitting, again, it's Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight) makes the music. What can one say it is? Is it a bad movie with good effects? Is it a good film for over use of effects that it becomes blurry? Maybe it's a mixture of both.
The film has its good moments and its right silly moments, but it has something that previous Superman movies alluring had and it is mythology. It is better explained here than on Wikipedia and story follow Kal-El more like an alien and it makes the movie, trot or not, more soil close. It has reduced talk and more action in this than what it was in Brian Singer's "Superman Returns" from 2006. The costumes and settings feels more like something from "Star Trek" mixed with "Pitch Black" and "Mad Max".
"You will give the people an ideal to Strive towards. They will race behind you, They will stumble, They will anyway. But in time, They will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders."
Man of Steel makes a Batman Begins, it goes back to the foundation who Kal-El is and why he's here. Christopher Nolan has left its imprint on the story, which is evident mainly in the dialog and character building has been posted. Now it only remains to be seen whether the future is holding up without him backstage. Henry Cavill is a very good Kal-El, but also Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner plays good father roles in the movie moral debate. While Michael Shannon makes probably one of his best and funniest role so far.
