The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: Coming Home (2023)
It's got it all
I haven't had this much fun with a Walking Dead series since the early days of the main show. This episode truly had it all: suspense, cool zombies, emotional scenes, love, the most amazing cinematography, the most perfect song to end the show ever! And, of course, a nice surprise at the end.
Everything about this series is near perfection. The costuming is appropriate & cool & sexy. The set design is stunning. The locations they used are incredibly gorgeous. Everything about the cinematography is well thought out and breathtaking. The lighting they use & weather they utilize or fabricate really adds to the story.
This episode's storyline included a piece of our history with France, and that was very moving and touching. An excellent, special acknowledgment. The connection with Daryl's family and our history with France was nice to see.
The characters & actors are interesting & so talented. Walking Dead has always had a knack for getting us to invest in characters, whether we love them or hate them.
The icing on the cake in this episode for me was the song it ended on. I am a huge old U2 fan and the lyrics and the song they used could not have been any more perfect! (I'm going to go listen to their War album again.) It was a very nice and fun surprise!
I am very excited about the next season and I really hope it doesn't take too long for them to air it. But I wouldn't be surprised if we would have to wait a year!
Love, Antosha (2019)
One of a kind
I had been such a big fan of his & following his work, so excited to see what his future would hold. Someone at that age accomplishing SO much & who was SO respected! To learn of his death on that tragic day, especially in those freak circumstances, was almost too much to bare. I don't usually feel such loss from celebrities I've never met, but this one I did. And then to learn he had battled cystic fibrosis through it all?!?! Wow! I'm so glad this film was made. I will forever search for all the work he did & view as much of it as I can. Definitely one of a kind actor, son & friend. I sure wish I'd been lucky enough to know him personally.
The Walking Dead: Silence the Whisperers (2019)
So impressed with Michael Cudlitz's direction!
I had to see who directed this episode because the direction was superb! The cinematography and the shots that were taken were very impressive. I believe this episode had everything: romance, unbelievable suspense, conflict, moments of cheering and sadness. Definitely left me wondering what is next to come in many storylines!
The Handmaid's Tale: Unknown Caller (2019)
Grrrrrl Power!! & U2?! Awesome
The actresses who plays Serena and June are the most amazing actresses, I don't have words to describe their quality! Plus the writers and honestly everything having to do with this show just makes it one of the best series that have ever been on TV.
And then they add to the quality by including U2's song "Sunday Bloody Sunday", perfect! 🙂
The heartbreak in this episode brought me to tears, and that usually happens with many of these episodes. The raw emotion comes through so clearly. But they always manage to also keep me in suspense and waiting eagerly for the next weeks episode!
Black Summer (2019)
Organize the grocery store before you evacuate I guess LOL
After the first 10 minutes I couldn't stand the bad acting, especially by the blonde mother. But I threw in the towel after the man was in the grocery store & every single item on the shelves was neat and organized like no one had ever shopped there ever before. And no one thought to go in there when they were evacuating to take necessary supplies. Really?!?!??
Such incredibly lazy writing. And bad acting
Grey's Anatomy: Silent All These Years (2019)
Excellent, perfect portrayal of what all women/girls. fear almost every day!
Wow! The writers and actors portrayed a rape victim so tenderly and real. The actress who played the victim was the most amazing. I bawled.
Even if you are never willing to amidt it, as a woman, from the moment we learn these things can happen, we do fear them almost daily. We may not dwell on the possibility, but we definitely have it in the back of our mind. The decisions we make, the doubts we can have, It just becomes a way of life.
It's not right. Society needs to change their stinkin' thinkin'. These last couple years with such a strong women's movement going on, we are closer than ever. But men need to be more involved. Like the scene between father & son, as the boy is about to have his first relationship.
The second story about her adoption wasn't done as well, but as a person that was put up for adoption who found her birth mother and found out that she was a product of date rape as well, I have a bit more understanding about a story such as this. I'd rate that story an 8. It will be interesting to see if and when she is able to talk about what she found out.
