The Dilemma (2011)

Laugh out loud comedy Vince Vaughn is hilarious as usual
20 January 2011
There is nothing quite like the lines Vince Vaughn comes up with in his movies. Like usual he had me laughing hard through the whole movie. Not his best I have ever seen, but still worth it if you are a fan of his style and quick-witted humor. The film also features Jennifer Connelly, Winona Rider, Kevin James, Queen Latifah, and Channing Tatum, which have all had their fair share of starring roles in movies and they helped make this one worth seeing as well.

You won't come away thinking this is the best movie you have ever seen, or that it has a complex story, but it is entertaining and will provide you with a lot of good laughs. Laughing is important in life, at least I think so. I would watch this movie few more times, because sometimes you just need something simple and to have a good laugh.

It's not Old School or Wedding Crashers but not many are, give this one a go.

Funny action, but not going to blow you away
16 January 2011
What I expected from a Seth Rogen film. I enjoyed the goofy humor mixed in with very cool weapons, and kick butt martial arts action. I would have to say this movie targets guys and people under the age of 30 or so. You have to take the movie for what it is worth, if you are a serious person looking for A+ acting with a top-notch storyline then you should skip this movie. However, if you still have a kid inside you that enjoys laughing, not taking things to seriously, and comic's/super hero action then you will enjoy this film. The villain Christoph Waltz who also starred in Inglourious Basterds also helped make the film worth seeing in my opinion, and he had one of the sweetest gun's I've seen in a movie. Other big actors in the film include Cameron Diaz & Tom Wilkinson.

Even though I liked this movie, I think most people would not feel liked they missed out on anything too special if they waited for DVD. It's a fun movie, with good special effects, fight scenes, and a laid back attitude, but nothing that will blow you away.

Surprisingly better than expected
13 January 2011
Surprisingly better than expected. I did not think that I would like this movie at all, and probably would have skipped it had Shannon (my wife) not wanted to see it so much.

The acting was pretty good, I usually like Gwyneth Paltrow and she made the movie. All of the songs in the movie were very good, and I usually do not even like Country music. However, if you are not that into music or movies that have lots of singing then you should probably skip this movie because over a third of it involves singing.

Overall I was pleased with the movie. Good music as well as lyrics and I enjoyed watching Gwyneth and the two younger stars, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester, perform their songs through the movie. I thought the theater helped create a good atmosphere for the movie, kind of like you were at their concerts. Keep in mind though that the movie is a drama so it is slower, and has serious issues going on with a sort of deep life message tied into the story as well, which I liked.

The story of the man who became King George VI
30 December 2010
My pick for this years best picture Oscar award, and probably my favorite movie of the year. The movie is simply remarkable. A heroic story that inspires, and pulls you right in. Colin Firth, and Geoffrey Rush were perfect, and I was surprised with how many funny lines were in the movie.

On a side note, I did find it slightly humorous that there were at least three Harry Potter actors in the movie, Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) who plays Queen Elizabeth had the largest role of the three and did a fantastic job. See if you can figure out the other two, and let me know if you need any help.

An interesting part of our history, this movie is a must see if you enjoy great acting. If you cannot handle a slower pace movie it might not be for you.
