Jupiter's Legacy (2021)
Total waste of time
Just watch the first episode and the last one, or even better first 15 mins and last 15 minutes and still you wouldn't have missed a thing...because nothing worthwhile happens in between. It is totally repetitive, same things happening again, same discussions over and over, that will even put a sloth to sleep and too much of talking for things that should be shown.
Yatra (2018)
How come this movie has a 8+ rating
This movie was like listening to a bad party propaganda. YSR solves all the issues of all the people in the movie..worst movie
Ainsley Eats the Streets (2014)
Doesn't make any sense
Street food is all about trying new cuisine not typically found in a 5 star restaurant, and youtubers are doing a great job here. In the midst of this a snobbish gentleman who is sensitive to most of the foods going around the world, making salads and calling it cooking is just not there. Good that this series was released in 2014, if it is 2019, it would have been a disaster.
Cinderella (2015)
Ella Ella Ella
It is a tough bet to retell a story which has already been told not once but many number of times. We all know what happens in Cinderella, but it would take Disney to make an already known story to be interesting. The way this version of Cinderella has been told makes all the difference. Disney and Fairy tales are made for each other so much, that no matter how many times they tell the same story, it is still as interesting as watching it for the first time. Throw in some top class CGI to the fairy tale, and voila you have a stunning movie, and yes the movie was stunning, be it the palace, which i believe was CGI, the performances by the artists and above all the screenplay had been extremely well written all over the movie. Thankfully this one is not a musical like its predecessor, from Disney. So full marks to the director Kenneth Branagh, and full scores to Lily James for portraying the most loved character of all times. Also a special mention to the characterization of the prince, played by Madden, that rather than being portrayed as the lover boy Prince Charming, who just falls in love over Cinderella, in this version he shows his character by standing up for his love.
Great work Disney, no matter how many times you retell a story, it is always as fresh as the first time.
O Kadhal Kanmani (2015)
Crisp - Clear - Fresh - Movie
I do wonder what is that in Maniratnam movies, which makes them a hit. It is the ability to portray subtle moments of life, and this time in OK Kanmani, Maniratnam does it again. It is easy to bring action or sentiments or masala into a movie, but to bring subtlety of emotions is a tough task, but it is the task that pours abundance of life into the characters etched into OK Kanmani.
AR Rahman's music feels fresh throughout the movie, be it the BGM or the songs and Vairamuthu's lyrics add much needed poetic touch to the love story, taking it one notch higher.
Salman, Nitya menon, Prakash Raj and Leela samson bring in life to their characters and it is always a joy to see Prakash Raj on screen, especially in characters that you know he can essay with flamboyance.
The good thing about OKK is dialogs, for there are no lengthy dialogs, but the weak point of OKK is also its dialogs. Sometimes it seems to be artificial, unrealistic, lifeless but definitely poetic. Mani needs to concentrate more on this department and i personally believe that was the reason why his earlier movies did not do well.
Whenever you see an elderly pair or characters on screen, they portray a typical stereotyped uncle-aunties who are full of jokes in the first half and full of advices to the younger generation in the second half. But OKK breaks the stereotype in the well etched roles of Ganapathy uncle and Bhavani Aunty. Hats off to Maniratnam for braking this stereotype.
One more great thing which cannot go unnoticed is the usage of lights and cinematography. Maniratnam and lights is a clichéd joke, but OKK is colorful and bright visual treat.
Overall the movie is fresh, Crisp and easy fare.
Avatar (2009)
A Series of impossible events
1) There is a planet called Pandora - OK agreed, Every sci-fi movie should have some other planet where life exists.
2) There is a alien tribe called Navi, which exists in that planet - What fun is a planet in a sci-fi movie which does not have aliens in it...Agreed too 3) There is a 5 months hyper sleep which a person needs to go through to reach Pandora from Earth - I have seen Aliens, so the concept of hyper sleep is not new...after all this is a Cameroon movie.
4) There is a Human camp in Pandora, with all the equipments mind can think of - This is fetching the story a little far away...But still agreed 5) There is a Mineral called unobtainium - OMG,,,wait let me digest this information 6) There is a project called Avatar - OK the title suggests that 7) You can get into the Avatar by getting into a jelly mass bed an closing your own coffin shaped stuff - Wait did i hear it right...What kind of technology is that ...Should This movie be retitled - A series of impossible events.
8) Things does not stop there - There is Eywa to come in the picture, there is a Ikran, There is a Horse which you connect to and there is all supernatural stuff the mind cannot imagine...
With all these impossibilities, revealed one after the another...the movie unfolds with dramatic technology usage and a storyline which is perfect till the end.
Only Cameroon could pull such series of impossibilities and spun them into a story without affecting the storyline in anyway. Hats Off...This is the Holy grail of all Sci-fi movies.
The Hangover Part II (2011)
Reasons why Hangover 2 is terribly funny
1) It is terribly funny, that a whole movie can be a spoiler. Had you seen part 1, this is a carbon copy of that...except the tiger is replaced by a monkey and Vegas is replaced by Bangkok....and hey hold on...Allen also gets his head shaved...how F%%%g amazing and different.
2) It is terribly funny, that the movie was able to pull off with a Thai cast, that did not know the basics of acting...especially Mason Lee (Teddy) looked like he was having a vacation with a smile on his face always. Very polite of him that even after losing his finger he was happily smiling and exchanging niceties with his fellow hooligans.
3) It is terribly funny, that the movie makes you puke...the glitz and glamor of Vegas is replaced with the slums of Bangkok, the Sl%%y beautiful chicks of Vegas are replaced by a bunch of Trannies, and of course the tiger is replaced by a monkey that can smoke....How funny.
4) It is terribly funny, that the entire movie can be a harassment and goofy, slapstick so called comedies which make one grunt than laugh....Monks are harassed, under aged kids harassed and even the spectators get harassed.
5) It is terribly funny, that we chose this movie over Kung Fu panda 2 over the memorial weekend on the very first day.
